Chapter 1
Chapter 1 Raved's point of view THE DRUMS AWAKENED MY SLEPT SPIRIT. It appears that it is 'calling time' once more, and I must act. Even though I was still tired, I forced myself to rise from the wet ground where we were lying. I was with several of my PMA colleagues. Their sleep, like mine, was disrupted. The man and woman are in training together as soldiers. There are no specific considerations; if you are artistic, you will find a home. As a soldier, you will encounter and experience all you have feared; you will experience everything you have not yet experienced. Coles, one of my teammates, muttered, "Our training has started again." During the training, the commanders are divided into two groups: those who train us and those who are aspiring to be soldiers. Each team consists of four people, and I am the only woman in our team. Therefore, Sir Sua designated me as the team leader. I got out of my chair and put on my cargo trousers and combat boots. I was in the same tent as my colleagues, and we were all crammed in together. We can't take a bath now because we'll drown in the mud later. After I put on my combat shoes, I put on my t-shirt. The M16 was fixed, and ammunition was prepared. I watched as Dern attempted to rouse Akey, who was still fast asleep. At that scene, my eyebrows were raised. I shook my head. “You even called Akey, Dern. Perhaps we'll be punished later,” Coles grumbled. We don't like each other; in short, we don't want to work together. We didn't get along, so we were on our own. Coles and Dern are the only people on this team who know each other. I'm not familiar with any of them. I only met them last few weeks ago. My teammates heard the drum and the Company Sargent's shouts again. That was quick! "I'm leaving you all!" That was all I said before rushing out of the tent. I noticed that my teammates were eager to follow me. I roamed my eyes around, the wind welcomed me as it touched my bare skin. I heard some birds nowhere nonstop chirping, which is like music in my ears. The sunrise showed up from the East, telling us that it was another day again. The other soldiers hurried up to go onto the field for our training. As if there’s an important event that we shouldn’t miss out on. “Seriously?! Is that the personality of a team leader? You are incredible.” Coles gave a hard stare as he accompanied me. "I don't want to be in this team if you're my teammates! It's better to be alone than with three idiots!” I yelled at Coles. I ran even faster and then went to the formation of the Bravo Company in the first platoon. Coles, Akey, and Dern went to Alpha Company, which is where their platoon originated. We are a group of more than a hundred aspiring soldiers from various schools, companies, and platoons. But when it comes to responsibility and duty, we are all on the same page. But if those three guys are that weak, nerdy, and cool, I don't want to be with them! I should be alone! I can carry out my responsibilities without them. In any case, I don't need them. "Hand salute!" This is what I am waiting for! . . . I gasped as I sat on a rock when our company drill was over. My male teammates followed me. Later, we will do co-combat training as a team. “Remember, we have one hour to rest. After that, we had combat training! So please, don't be silly.” I ran my hand over my boy's hair annoyingly. This will be a problem later; us in combat training! As a result, my team is always last at the top. That did not go unnoticed by our Commandant. “You are all who consistently put me to shame,” I grumbled again. Coles frowned at me. He’s handsome and cool, but if he doesn’t help those two, in short, if he doesn’t have a good heart, I hope we can get along. But he still helps the two weak nerds on our team, and it irritates me. Even if I’m always ahead, it doesn’t make sense to score because the points are calculated as a team. “I’m sorry, Raved. We, too, are doing our best. However, as a team leader, you should teach us as teammates.” I ignored Dern, the nerd, and just stared at him. While Akey, who was weak, remained silent. And Coles, who is still cool, still looks bad to me. We were in that position when Sir Sua suddenly approached us. We stood up and saluted with our hands. “Proceed to the headquarters by... ” Sir Sua looked down at his military watch. "A hundred times." "Sir, yes, sir!" we exclaimed. Sir Sua's hand saluted us back, and we turned our backs before we could lower our right hands. I took a look at my military watch, which I was also wearing. I was taken aback when I realized we only had fifteen minutes left. “Let's get going, let's have lunch. Be at the headquarters before time!” I gave them a command. We ran quickly and headed to our tent. I only ate biscuits and drank three glasses of water. Water is more important than ever — it's one of the things I've learned about being a survivor. My friends ate far too much rice in a hurry. They ate sandwiches and drank water. We need to run as fast as we can as our headquarters are still far away from where we are. “What? Are you finished? We only have ten minutes!” I dashed over to them. “Can you just wait? Do you want us to die? We just finished eating, you see, ” Coles grumbled to me. I raised an eyebrow at him. “If you weren't fooled and still ate a lot! You see, we only had fifteen minutes! You take care of that.” I quickly exited the tent and dashed to the headquarters. I went to Sir Sua's office first because we were only a few meters apart. They will soon follow me. We reported before being admitted to Sir Sua's office. For the formal interaction with PMA's highest rank, we saluted our hands. Sir's interactions with us resumed normalcy after that. "Perhaps the four of you are wondering why," Sir Sua started. He slammed into the back of his military green pants. “Ms. Cordova and your team will be dispatched on a military mission.” I think I'm going to pay close attention to what Sir Sua said. But I didn't like the fact that I had to be with these three wusses. “Sir? Can I become a part of this group? Sir, I say—,” Sir Sua gave me a serious, authoritative look. “Yes, Ms. Cordova. As a team leader, you must carry and teach your team. You should collaborate as a group; as one. Not a team leader who works alone and leaves his team members behind. That is why I assigned you as a team leader, because I want you to teach and treat them as your brothers or buddies.” It felt like I had been slapped several times at that point. I was embarrassed. I averted my gaze from Sir Sua. My hand clenched in annoyance. That is why I am here, taking a military course, to prove to my father that I am a self-sufficient woman. That I can be like his favorite son — my big brother — that I can be one of the boys and not be weak, as he used to say to me when he was angry. I want to show that I am brave even though I am a woman. “Don't worry, you'll have someone with you on the mission — those who lift you. This mission is also your task, and it is part of your combat battle training. This time, the enemy is real—not a crazed target person.” Sir, explain further. “The four of you have only one month to complete the task with the graduated soldiers. You'll be standing in a dangerous forest full of enemies. Ensure that the four of you are still alive after the mission. Always remember the buddy-buddy system; if everyone works together, no one falls behind. Is that clear?” I just gasped. It appeared that I had no choice but to accept my fate; that I could join these three idiots on a real mission. "Sir, yes, sir!" Sir Sua smiled as he heard our response to him. “Good. I'll send the mission details to my secretary later in your tent. You can rest now, and no more combat training after this. Prepare your belongings and get ready to leave tomorrow.” When we heard what we heard, our jaws dropped. Tomorrow? Immediately? "Tomorrow, sir?" Coles asked again. I rolled my eyes. Isn't he only a conceited jerk, but also deaf? “Yes, Mr. Andrade. Your mission will begin tomorrow.” I just closed my eyes and secretly depreciated. Oh my goodness! This is it!
