Chapter 1
“Finally Fixing Broken” Coming Summer of 2021 to Dreame If you haven't read abused and broken and still broken you may want to this is the 3rd book in the series. Chapter 1 *Ember* Standing in the kitchen, looking out through the window, I think back over the past few years. All of the events that have happened, all of the war, the love, the horror. For the first time ever, I feel like we may finally be done with the bad. I feel like, for once, I can pick up the shattered pieces of my broken life and, with help, I can put them back together. I once told Blaze something, and I finally believe that it’s true. I can finally fix being broken. Dante, Lysa, and Vance are getting ready to go school. It's hard for me to believe the twins were born only a little over two years ago. I am still upset that I have missed so much of their lives, and I refuse to miss anymore. I refuse to miss it, even when I thought that I was alone during that terrible time after the Underworld, where I shut everyone out. Where I thought that Blaze was going to leave me. I was so sure that he was going to leave after finding out what happened in the Underworld, but I was wrong. He meant every word at our wedding when he said it. Forever. And after that, I refused to miss anything else, even after that crazy Annabelle woman poisoned us and I almost lost Blaze, and the twins almost lost us both… I shudder at the thought. Hades and Persephone saved us. They went back to the Underworld to make up for the lost time and to hunt down the coven. We haven't heard from them since. Even though Hades was forced to do an unspeakable act, which I am still healing from, I'm glad he got back his Queen. He spent so long thinking she was, not only dead, but that her soul was lost to him. After the battle, we learned about Annabelle's game. She was flying straight from the very beginning, a game that she thought only she could win. Hades learned about how her coven wanted to use her to gain more power for them. How her own mother took the life of her true love, explaining her very last word before she burned to ash, Marcus. And no, not even in her death would she be able to be with him. My black fire burns everything, including the soul. I can't pretend not to care. She was manipulated, and in return she manipulated Hades and everyone else that came into her life. To be honest, I don't know what I would do if I lost Blaze. But that doesn't mean that I could ever do what she did. “Mom?” Lysa yells from upstairs, breaking into my thoughts. She's a nervous wreck. “Yes?” I throw right back at the stairs, with a giggle in my voice. “Have you seen my baby-pink crop top?” She yells back down, pure panic in her voice. “It's in your closet! And hurry up so that you can eat.” The boys are already set to go, sitting downstairs, and now they're laughing at Lysa’s nervousness. “You two, stop it!” I whisper yell at them. Vance doesn't have to go to school, but he wants to. Ever since Lysa was there when he almost died, he won't leave her. Blaze and I are almost a thousand percent sure that they will be mates when she shifts, which could be any day now. Dante is kind of jealous. With everything going on, he hasn't had the chance to meet anybody, not even the girls his age in the pack. I think that's why he was up at five in the morning, sneaking around, getting ready, trying to look like he just crawled out of bed, but I knew the truth, though I won't dare tell him that. However, he managed to pull off what he wanted to. He looks so handsome in his dark denim jeans and black t-shirts, showing off his muscles, hair just tassel so it looks like it has that just-got-out-of-bed look, and the girls will eat him up. Lysa pounds down the stairs, finally gracing us with her presence. “Ah, finally.” Dante says with a smart-alecky tone. Vance stares, dropping his fork from his mouth, leaving it wide open. I turn to see what he is looking at. She is in a pair of light-wash jeans with holes in the front that make them look like they're bound for the trash can. Oh, I don't get it at all, but she likes them, so that’s all that matters. Then, of course, she's wearing her baby-pink crop top with a jean jacket. “Are you sure you want to wear that?” He says. I can tell that he isn't happy about what other boys will think of her, dressing like that. She looks down at her clothes, doing a little turn. “Well duh, I've only been getting ready for the last hour.” She laughs. Oh Vance, you have your hands full. “Sit down and eat. Do you know you only have, like, fifteen minutes?” She starts shoveling food in her mouth at an alarming rate. Sure enough, she manages to finish all of her food in record time. “Hey guys, let's go!” The excitement in her voice cannot be mistaken. I hope high school is better for them than it was for me. *Dante* We climb into the car, Mom and Dad are letting us use one of theirs, but Lysa and I aren't allowed to drive, even though we are kind of old enough to do so, Mom just isn't ready for that. So, Vance drives. Lysa is super excited, so am I. I hear Mom and Dad talking about how Lysa may have found her mate and that makes me a bit jealous. I haven't even got to make a friend in my life, but yet she has a mate. I'm hoping that I can at least make a friend today. I heard Dad and his friend talking about us starting school, so I know that my pack mates know we are starting, and from what I heard Mark tell Dad, they are excited to meet us after knowing what all that we have been through. And the fact they never thought, in a million years, they would be going to school with the alpha’s kids. I mean, technically, we should just be entering daycare. Not high school. Just like many other packs, they've never met the Fae before, and now they have two hybrids to meet. When we pull up to the school, I can see that we haven’t missed the bell waiting on Lysa to get ready, and to eat. Thank the Goddess, while I didn't want to be early, I also didn't want to be late to the point we miss the morning hang out time. While we look for a parking space, I look around and I can see all the different groups hanging out. It's just like high school on TV; you have the jocks, the goths, the nerds, the outcasts, and the popular girls all in their designated areas. I’m sure that I am forgetting a few different group titles out there, all the while, I wonder where I will fit in. “You must be the alpha’s kids.” I look at the guy standing in front of me. I hate that right now we are known as the alpha’s kids. “I am Dante.” I say in my biggest voice, trying to show that I am a single person, not just a twin. “And this is Lysa.” I hook my thumb over my shoulder, pointing to Lysa. Then I point to Vance, who looks like a lost puppy with his chest bowed up next to Lysa, he is hopelessly in love already and she is oblivious to it. “And that is Vance.” “I'm Mike, Mark's youngest brother. Welcome to Hell.” He says, with a sincere smile on his face.
