Jilted Mate 01
It suddenly rains like cats and dogs in the North. Veronica fixed her hoodie and looked around her surrounding through the window of her car. She was completely drenched in the rain, trying to find a hotel or inn to stay in, but no one accepted her. The news about her attempting to kill the Luna of the Blue Moon pack has spread like wildfire on the entire North region. No one wants to take such a dangerous woman like her.   She took her phone from the dashboard and dialed the numbers of her friends listed on her phone. None of them answered. Veronica smiled bitterly. The friends she thought was true to her, abandoned her in a blink of an eye.   Veronica's stomach grumbled. She hasn't eaten anything at all since she left her home. She looked at the bright neon sign right in front of her, a convenient store. She took her wallet, and a last glanced on her mirror, Veronica went out of her car. She ran to the store as the rain kept pouring in. The wind chimes above created a tinkling sound as she pushed the door of the store.   She hurriedly went to get her items. Most of these are foods and necessities. When she's all done, she put it all down on the counter. The cashier in charge looked at her, slowly scrutinizing her inner being. She raised her eyebrows at her. "What the hell are you looking at?" she said that made the girl gulped. She hastily wrapped all the items and gave them to her while shaking. Veronica took it harshly from her and went out. She quickly drove off, searching for a place to stay for the night. She rubbed her shoulder with her hand and deeply sighed. The cold is killing her. Veronica saw an open inn. She hurriedly parked her car and went inside. The lady from the desk who was reading a thick book looked at her.   "One room, please," she said. She took her wallet to pay, but the lady was just completely staring at her. She waved her hand in front of her to get her attention. "I'm sorry, we don't have vacant room at the moment," she said while stuttering. Veronica blew a loud breath. Veronica already had enough, as she was rejected so many times.   "Come on! I know you have one. Just a night will do," she desperately said. She badly wanted to wash and to sleep in a comfortable bed. The lady called someone from the telephone. Veronica is freezing to death. Again, Veronica rubbed her shoulder and palms. A bulky man appeared, came from one of the inn's rooms. She knew this one, Allen Summer.   "Veronica, we have no room for you in here," he said and crossed his arms. Veronica scoffed.   "Allen, I need a night. I won't stay here for long," she said, putting the cash down the table. Allen stared at her, the Alpha of Summer's pack. Allen took the money and returned it to her. "Leave Veronica. I don't want to bring troubles in my pack," Allen seriously said. Veronica cursed under her breath. This humiliation was worse than death itself. No one would accept her, and now, her crimes were branded on her name wherever she goes. It was like Veronica was entirely banish from the North. Without looking back, she walks away, clutching her hoodie tightly.   She kicked the tire of her car before slamming the door hard. She was furious. They wouldn't understand her. All she ever did was loving a man.   "Where are we going now?" her wolf said to her. She smirked and grabbed a clean set of towels and wiped her wet body. She took off her clothes and change.   "So now you decided to talk to me?" she said while putting a shirt and pants on. Vien whimpered, clearly frustrated about what happened.   "I'll fix this," Veronica said and put her hand on the steering wheel.   "How?" Vien asked and rolled her eyes. Veronica starts the car and drove off. She didn't answer Vien because she already knew where to go. After the exhausting three hour ride, Veronica parked her car to the port's parking lot. She already bought the tickets. Veronica needs to wait for her departure. She took her phone out and tried dialing a number.   "Hello?" A man's voice said.   "Jarvis, it's me," she said. There was a pause in the other line.   "What does the high and mighty Queen Veronica wants in this late at night?" Jarvis asked and chuckled. Veronica met him when she was on vacation in the South. Jarvis Mondragon is a warlock and also the owner of the famous tattoo shop in the South. He did Veronica's crown tattoo on her back.   "I need your help, Jarvis," she said. Jarvis is the only one she knew that could help her miserable self right now because her friends had cast her aside. "I need a place to stay and probably a work," she added and heaved a sigh.   "Can't afford a hotel now?" Jarvis said, earning a laughed from Veronica. She liked Jarvis and enjoyed their platonic relationship. He was like a brother to her. "I was banished," she confessed.   "Holy s**t, for fvcking real?" Jarvis shouted that Veronica has to remove her phone away from her ear. "What the actual fvck happened to you?" Jarvis asked, this time a little more calmed.   "I fvcked up real hard," Veronica said and chuckled. She blinked the tears that were threatening to fall from her eyes and gripped the phone tightly. Again, there was a long pause on the other line. She waited for Jarvis to talk.   "You know where to find me. Stay fvcking safe, V," Jarvis said and ended a call. She breathed a sigh of relief. Veronica almost thought Jarvis would also abandon her like what her other friends did. She put her head in the wheel when someone knocked on her window. She rolled in down and saw an aged man.   "Miss, do you have the ticket?" he asked with an intense gaze. Veronica gave her the ticket and avoided him. She wants to leave in peace.   "You may proceed, Miss. Enjoy your stay," he said and smiled. Veronica nodded and drove inside the ferry. It will take two to three days to arrive in the South, depending on the ocean waves. When she settled in her room, she washed her body. She opened the small window and watched the starry sky.   Veronica tucked her hair around her ear when the cold night wind blew. The rain had already stopped pouring. She glanced at the place where she grew up and couldn't help but feel a surge of emotions. As the ferry started to move, she also moved on but left her heart and soul.
