When you're in the line of work that I am, there are certain rules you have to remember. If you want to live and continue to live in something besides a jail cell.

1.} Never quite till the job is done because if you do, you don't get paid.

2.} Always have enough money in the bank for bail because you can't depend on others to do it for you.

Lex is a trained killer for the Knights of Eden, a gang of rough housers and outcasts that you never want to come in contact with. Lex is a woman of bigger size in a man's line of work and constantly has to prove herself to show people she is good enough. Jericho stumbles upon a black, gloss coated card and needs some issues to be taken care of. Jericho is also a doctor who has too much at risk if things go south. What happens when Lex and Jericho cross paths and start to become apart of each other's lives more and more. Will this relationship stay strictly business or will things begin to get hot and heavy?

Chapter One
Jericho's POV I glance at the card in my hand and twist it's smooth varnish around in my hands. I never thought I would need to resort to this but I am a man in desperate times. I wanted action and this was the place you went for that to happen. All the voice at the end of the line said was "Meet me at The Mad Bean Cafe tomorrow at noon. Wear something casual. Sit in the far right corner and wait." Then they ended the call. The words sounded so bored and dull that I couldn't tell if it was a secretary or a man with a tenor voice. So here I sit, at The Mad Bean Cafe. Wearing something casual and waiting impatiently for the man to walk through the door. As I get lost in thought of the reason I am doing this I hear the familiar chime of the front door. I look up and in walks a large man with broad shoulders and a mean look. His attire looks completely different from his expression, a happy looking Hawaiian shirt paired with a pair of jeans and sneakers. He looks around the room and gives me a nod and I stand up and walk to the counter along with him. I stand behind him waiting for him to acknowledge me or maybe even turn around but he doesn't. I mean, am I supposed to wait for him to talk to me or does he even know who I am. Maybe that nod was just friendly, but he looked anything but. I raise my hand to tap him on the shoulder but feel a hand snake around my waist and turn me around. I go to speak but my face is brought between two soft hands and all of a sudden I have a pair of full lips against mine. I was beyond confused but this woman had my full attention as she ran a hand through my hair and tugged me down to reach her height. I wrap a hand around her waist and feel a good amount of cushion leaving me to believe that she was on the bigger side. God, I hope she isn't ugly. I pull away at that thought and open my eyes that I hadn't even realized I had closed and try and focus on the women before me but she is all too quick to pull me into a hug. "Jericho it's been the too long baby." She gushes out and leans into my ear as my face connects to the crook of my neck. "That man is a cop and you almost blew my cover." She whispers harshly in my ear and pulls away. A smile is stretched across her face and I realize what a pretty smile it is. Perfect white teeth with lips that are full at stretch. "Sir?" The lady behind the counter asks and I stop looking at the women before me and turn my head. "Um. Yeah uh- strawberry smoothie for me and um..." I turn to look back at the girl and she steps forward getting exactly what I'm asking with my eyes. "A coffee. Black." She says and I take in everything that I can see with the naked eyes. She's tall for most of the women I've seen, maybe 5'10 or so, with long thick legs. Connected to those legs was undoubtedly a nice ass but I wouldn't dare look in public. Her waist is thick and connected to a large chest that is currently covered with her long dark brown hair. My eyes finally make my way to her chest and she's looking at me like she asked a question. "Um. Sorry, what?" I ask. And she rolls her eyes giggles more towards the lady than me. "Sorry, I guess he forgot how I look." She says and places a 10 dollar bill on the counter and smiles my way. "You go sit down. I'll get these babe." She tells me and I am beyond confused, I have never met this woman in my life, I know I would have remembered. I walk back to my seat and my eyes trail over her behind and my assumption was true. Her backside was... plump, clad in light jeans and on display. She wore a dressy shirt that left her massive amount of cleave on display and had a small pocketbook on her hip. Wait, was I really looking at what she was wearing. Who the hell was she and where the hell did that kiss come from. 'You almost blew my cover' Surely she couldn't be who I was supposed to meet with. Maybe she was the secretary like I thought on the phone because there is no way that this woman was a killer. She turned around with the cups in her hand and walked my may with a sway in her hip. She set mine down and leaned down to give a kiss to my cheek, which again surprised me, and sat down as I smelt a bit of her vanilla perfume. "You know I usually like to know a person's name before I kiss them." I say sipping on my drink with a smirk, trying to start up a conversation. "Well then aren't you lucky that I kissed you." She says in a smooth voice as she pulls her bag off and curses something along the lines of f*****g bag under her breath. "Do I know you?" I ask and she raises an eyebrow at me and leans forward. "Don't you think if you knew me you would know my name?" She says and I quirk a brow at her immense wit and coy attitude. "Then might I ask why you kissed me?" I challenge her as my confusion takes over her motive. "That guy you were about to give my card to was a cop. I'd rather not have to change my number, or kill a cop today." She says in such a calm voice that I choke on my drink. I start to cough and pat on my chest and raise a brow at her. "You're a knight?" I ask, making sure to use the business pseudo name instead of just saying it. "Yes, you know, I thought sexism would have died with all those women walking around in v****a hats. I guess I was wrong. " She says in a sarcastic voice and I shake my head. "No, I'm sorry it's not that you're a woman it's just you're not what I imagined." She chuckles and glances behind her at the cop in the Hawaiian shirt who is currently drinking tea and eating grapefruit with a spoon. "And you thought Boris the Hawaiian was?" She asks and I shake my head and chuckle. I couldn't do this, I would have to call again and get a different knight. I wouldn't put this women's life in danger. Not for my own stupidity. "Shall we discuss business or would you rather finish your drink?" She asks as she sets her empty cup down. I sigh and shake my head standing up. "I'm sorry but I can't do this, not in good mind. I refuse to put women in this situation." I say and walk off to the bathroom hoping she would leave. When I stepped back out after a couple of minutes of standing in there cause I'm a coward, I glance to see that she is gone and I feel one weight being lifted off my chest but the other is still there. That weight is heavier than any other because the burden hung around me all the time. If I hadn't been fighting with my mother she wouldn't have been subjected to that. I walk out the door and groan when I notice that the mystery girl threw away my drink since it wasn't there anymore. I walk into the alley and get in my car and groan as I lay my head against the steering wheel. "You know you really should lock your doors. We live in a dangerous world." I lift my head as I jump in my seat and see the girl sitting there. She takes a sip of my smoothie in her hand and gags and scrunches her face. "Ew this is nasty, I can taste banana." She hands me the drink and I shake my head at her like she's crazy. "No thanks, I don't drink after people." She rolls her eyes and rolls down my window and throws the cup out. "It's not like our mouths haven't been acquainted before anyways." I groan and stick my keys in and turn my body towards her. "Can I ask what you are doing in my car?" She opens her pocketbook and hands me a large envelope. "This is my contract. It has blanks for you to fill in. My address is on the contract. Text the number on the card when you're ready to meet. I'll give you the access code. We can discuss your terms and we can discuss mine. You can give me your target and we can discuss conditions-" I cut her off by giving her the envelope and shaking my head. "I told you this wasn't going to work out. I'm not putting a woman in danger on my behalf." She nods simply and cracks her neck. Her hand all of a sudden comes to my throat and she's in my face, almost in my lap. In her other hand is and knife and a rather big one at that. "I don't meet people who change their minds. You may not have paid me yet but I am already under your contract by being here. If you're so worried for my well being I'll just have to show you I'm more than capable of taking care of myself." She pulls away and puts her knife back in her pocket and I am frozen in the spot. "Is this how you treat people you are under contract with?" I ask and she gives me a sly smile and winks. "Only the cute ones." She opens the door and steps out the door. She leans down smiles at me. "Follow the black Torino across the street. I'll show you what you're paying for." She says to me and I can't help but let my eyes fall to her breasts which were falling out her top. She turns around and stops before closing the door. "Oh and by the way, stop looking at my ass. I can feel you undressing me." And with that, she closes the door and walks across the road. I roll my eyes at her comment and shake my head. I wasn't undressing her. I was just... admiring the view. I look down at the way her large hips move and watch her stick her middle finger up behind her back. How did she know... I guess when you kill people for a living you have eyes in the back of your head.
