Blurb

After the death of her grandmother and facing a great debt to pay, she was left with no choice but to put up rooms for rent. She definitely wasn't going to sit around and wait for money to drop from the sky.

But, she also wasn't expecting those two guys to desire renting the rooms from her.

"I'M LOOKING AT ONE, AREN'T I?"
"Dee, I swear to my ancestors, I'll kill you if you don't come out of that house in two minutes." Grey yelled out at me, already annoyed that I'd wasted his time. And no, it wasn't because I was trying to look gorgeous and let jaws drop when I leave the house, if you know what I mean. When I finally stepped outside, I laughed at how his face was all puffed up and I was glad he hadn't left me behind yet. "You think this is funny? You always do this when we want to go to the cinemas." I rolled my eyes, "You know I don't like the idea of going to watch a movie at the cinemas when I can download it or, even better, get a CD." "Let's just go. The guys are already blowing up my phone because of you." I called out to my grandmother that I would be back soon and he slung an arm around my shoulder as we made our way to the bus stop. It was a sunny day and I was glad I didn't wear a black shirt, but I was pretty sure I was going to sweat nonetheless. "Loving the simple clothes though. I just don't understand why you can't wear a dress." Grey voiced out and I groaned. What was wrong with what I wore? I looked at myself as we passed a store and the reflection of a girl wearing shorts and a tank with a vintage shirt thrown over it that greeted my eyes was awesome, if you asked for my opinion. That might also be why I was late. I was deciding on which of the multiple black shirts in my wardrobe to wear, so after a long debate with myself, I ended up picking this outfit. "Because I dress comfortably. Why don't you wear a dress? You've always been into them for a while," I sneered at him and he laughed. "Are you envious I've not been attracted to you?" I rolled my eyes, "I don't even want to have anything to do with you in that area." "Sure," He dragged then bent his head to whisper in my ear. "You know where to find me when you're ready," He licked my ear and ran off. What the..? I ran after him while shouting profanities at the top of my voice. Sure, I got stares from other people, but I was more interested in catching that i***t and shoving my foot up his ass. Or maybe kicking his balls, whichever would give him pain. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "If Dee was going to sleep throughout the movie, why bring her in the first place?" One of my best friends, Andrew, was sulking, "I spent a lot on this." So I may have slept throughout the whole movie but they should have seen it coming. Besides, the movie wasn't something that really drew my attention, so I ended up dozing off after I finished the popcorn. "I told you guys coming to the cinema wasn't my thing, but no, you just had to force me." I licked my spoon clean and dipped it into the cup again. "But at least I get free food, so why not?" "Glutton." He threw at me and I stuck my tongue out. "Asshole." "Guys..." Junior, my other best friend yawned, cutting us off. "Let's just do something else, where should we go to next?" "Let's just go back to my place. I don't think the sun is kind enough today for me to bask in." I suggested, and they nodded. I finished my ice cream and waited for the three of them to finish theirs while they checked out the girls. In the meantime, I took out my phone and started taking selfies and judging, then deleting the ones I was unsatisfied with. "You should stop before your phone camera breaks." I could hear the sarcasm dripping from Grey's voice and I dropped my phone. "Why don't you go back to check the girls out?" I leaned back into my chair while the other two glanced at us. "I'm looking at one, aren't I?" "Please, we both know I'm way out of your league." "Oooh." Junior gave me a fist bump and I smirked triumphantly at Grey. I might not look like all the girls he's hooked up with; with my chocolate skin compared to their light skin or my slim figure compared to their model-like ones, but I didn't care. I had something they didn't: my virginity. Maybe boobs and ass too, but whatever. We both stared at each other, more like glaring, and it didn't look like one of us was going to back down. It was like we were both waiting for each other to say something so that we could retaliate. "Well, it's getting tense. Let's stand up and go." Andrew piped in and Junior hastily agreed before hitting the table to grab both Grey and I's attention. Looking at Grey, I started to wonder why I liked him in the first place. It was two years ago and I was fresh out of high school when I bumped into him when I went out for a jog. First thing that popped into my head was 'who's that fine looking guy?' I wished I was dressed appropriately because I wasn't one to dress for the occasion, but the 2-second locking of eyes we did made my heart jump. I prayed to the gods that I would meet him again and my prayers were answered when I 'bumped' into him another day. I actually planned to bump into him. Long story short; he asked for my number, we got close and all that, to even locking lips on different occasions, especially when I knew the kind of person he was. A fuckboy. I'm pretty sure he saw me the same way he saw other girls. He would even ask me for the number of any girl he saw me with, whether she was my friend or not, and he'd still trap me in a corner to kiss me senseless. At that point, I knew going deeper with him would affect me, so I had to stop any feelings that were brewing in my heart. I'm sure he noticed that I was withdrawing and he's frustrated, but what can I do? But did I like the attention I usually got from him? Yes. "I'm envious of you guys' love-hate relationship," Andrew said. "I didn't see this at the beginning. What happened?" I can't possibly tell Junior and Andrew that I once liked him and we've been intimate. To them, I only met him and was the bridge to the friendship that they have now and I plan to keep it that way. Very soon, he'd find a new toy and forget all about our past lip locking events. "I'm pretty sure it's because Dee can't give Grey what other girls give him. I understand that." Junior laughed and I smiled at him because he was so smart. I never expected less from the smart dude in the group. Grey only grumbled throughout the journey home. I was also pretty quiet while Andrew and Junior were talking about a party that was happening tomorrow. "Don't you guys have lectures?" I spoke up immediately. My brain thought that it was going to be a Monday. "The semester is over, Einstein," Junior rolled his eyes. "We have a month's holiday before another starts." My eyes opened in realization and I muttered my apologies. Ladies and gentlemen, this is what I get for being a drop out.
