The Torn Decision

Staring at his assistant, Chich felt nothing but fury and contempt. That blasted woman had been a thorn in his side for far too long and now her antics had made matters even worse. Not only did she get everyone in a 10-mile radius to agree that the location of his condominium project was ill-suited, but she was going even further, circulating a petition and lobbying the city council to veto it as well. Nothing was going his way with this project. Flipping through the reports from his workers he realized he was no closer to achieving his goal. Chich was sitting with his assistant Jonathan to discuss the latest attempt at mediation with Jaime Donald. Turning to his assistant Jonathan, he opened his mouth to speak but the only thing that came out was a strangled growl. “I’m sorry Sir, all attempts to get her to concede have been rejected,” said Jonathan. “She has even gone as far as booby-trapping her door; a can full of red paint fell on the last men we sent to talk with her. I think the woman is out of her mind, Sir.” "Red paint? What the hell is going on! Where is that woman? I think it’s time we had a one on one. If I can convince her that what she’s doing is ridiculous and that the condominiums would be a great addition to the area we’d be golden," Chich asked. “She is usually at home around this time sir. She’s a painter so she doesn’t really leave her house much. Her studio is in the back of her house behind the garage.” Glaring at his assistant, he frowned. How did he know so much about this annoying woman? Why would Chich want to know was the better question? “Uh well sir we were given the task of locating and talking with her, so we had to track her whereabouts and such,” admitted the assistant. "Hmm, well okay, write down the address. I’ll go chat with her before I go watch my boy at his baseball practice. I will not miss that for anything,” Chich replied. His recent divorced taught him what mattered and what didn’t. And his son was #1, even before his company. Thinking about the gangly boy slowly growing into a man always brought a smile to his face. Taking the woman’s address, he nodded to his assistant, grabbed his suitcase, and made his way out of the office to his car. He prepped for the confrontation with the crazy woman. She was slowly becoming his arch nemesis and he was going to bring her down no matter what.
