Meeting Again

THE BEGINNING   *DEVON MCKNIGHT* "Mom I'm gonna be late again!" I said impatiently. "Yes dear I'm coming." This is day is my thirteenth birthday, and the first day of school. Well I don't really want to go there because I might see the most hideous creature I ever met. That's Brandon Walter! Ever since the day we met in kindergarten, my life became hell. He is mean and he is so uncool. He likes to break things. He likes to make girls cry! I don't really know about this boy. Oh did I mention that he hates me. He always...always starts a fight between the two of us. "Ok honey we’re here. Be good okay?" My mom said and kissed me in the forehead. "Bye mom." I walked out of the car, and went inside the school. I was making my way to the classroom, hoping to see my friends and wishing that Brandon's dad got a job destined to the other state or better yet, to other planet. My hopes were all shattered. "Hello there Miss curly." he said. "Speaking of the devil himself." I muttered. "What did you say?" his eyes got wider with what i said. "Oh haven't you heard that people who pretends to be deaf will be thrown to the other planet?" I said sarcastically. "Look who's talking, the witch who made poisonous apples." He always use that dark past of mine as blackmail. Back when we were eight years old, I tried to cook for the both of us and it turns out…well it's not that bad. He’s just exaggerating. ..Fine it's bad! Our parents are friends by the way. How unfortunate of me. "Whatever Walter!" I walked pass him, now I'm really hoping all my friends are here. Thank God they are. "Hi guys!" I waved at them. "Hi Devon." They said in unison. My friends are Edhen, Mizzy, and Patricia. "Did you meet him again?" Mizzy asked, while Edhen is giggling. "How did you know, are you stalking me?" I teasingly said to her. "Duh every time you have that frowning face of yours means one thing." Patricia said. "BRANDON WALTER!!" They said, and then giggled. "Oh really, are you really that happy that first thing in the morning and the first day of class I encountered my worst enemy?" I said with my hands on my waist, raising my eyebrows at them. "Haven't you noticed that ever since we’re kids he picks on you and only you?" Edhen said. "So? What are you saying? That I'm the girl who is cursed by the gods and punished me by meeting him?” "No silly, it means he likes you." She rolled her eyes. I was dumbfounded. "Wow! You've been watching some comedies now a days huh...good one though." I said and forced a laugh. "Yeah its true Dev, he is." Mizzy said. I glared at her. "What? I'm just saying." She threw her hands in the air. "Let's just not talk about that guy anymore." "Haven't you notice that Brandon is growing up beautifully?" Patricia said while looking at Brandon in a day dream position. "Are you kidding me?" I looked at her gaze,I saw the boy that I hated for so long playing the guitar with his friends, 'The JERKS' as I call them. He has long eye lashes, killer smile, beautiful hair... SNAP! Did I just ...cut it off DEVON MCKNIGHT! You are just hungry. Trying to compose myself again to face my friends, they were all waiting for my reply. "I..." I didn't finish. ‘RRRIIIIIINNNGGGG’ Saved by the bell. Lessons in the morning passed by and before we knew it, we were having lunch. "Look who’s coming." Edhen blurted out in the blue, looking behind me. I looked back, Brandon is heading his way towards us. "Oh my gosh Renz is there..."Mizzy said, She fixed her hair."Do I look okay?" I knew she had a crush on Renz. I rolled my eyes. "Hi ladies." "Hi... Brandon." The three of them said. I glared at them trying to say 'are you crazy? Get him out in here!' But I failed because all of their crushes were friends with Brandon. "What do you want Walter." I said ready for a fight. "What? Well I want to eat with you guys." He smirked and went on sitting in our table. "Brandon is leaving tomorrow for..." Renz didn't finish his words, Brandon kicked his feet trying to say 'Shut up'. "What did you say?" I asked trying to clarify with Renz. He smiled innocently, "Ahh haha forget about that, I was just messing up with you." "Really." I said with unbelief, I know he was trying to say something about Brandon leaving. Brandon and Renz looked at each other. "Well I just want to see your reaction when I say 'What if' Brandon left." All eyes were on me. I was shocked. "We'll that would be good. I can finally live my life in peace!" I looked at him with a smirk on my face. I thought he would be mad or throw something on me, but he didn't. He's facing his plate. "Really... you will?" He asked. I was confused. What is he trying to do now? "I see, May I please excuse myself? He walked out. Renz was trying to follow him, but I knew something is not right so I grabbed him back. "What are you trying to pull?" I can see that Renz got nervous. "Tell me or else I will tell Mizzy that you have foul feet." Yep, He likes her too. "What? You’re so harsh!" "Then tell me." "Fine. Brandon didn't want me to tell you this...His father got a call from his company and said that they will be assigned to work in another state." What did he said? Brandon Walter my worst enemy will be moving out?! I am supposed to be happy but I don't know I am feeling right now. "He said he wanted to tell you this himself." He continued. "Why?" I was so confused. "Duh? Isn’t it obvious? He likes you." Renz blurted it out. I went home that day so confused. Why is he being like that? I am so not used to this. When I arrived at home, I saw his parents and mine talking to the kitchen. "Oh hi honey, your home." Mom said but with a sad face. "The Walter's are here to say good bye to us honey." I looked at them. "So it's true?" "Yup Jonathan here got assigned in another place so we have to move out." Mrs. Walters said. I looked around, I don't see him. "Where is Brandon?" I can tell that their expressions changed. "Well he doesn't want to come. Maybe it's too painful for him to say goodbye to you." Jonathan patted my head. "Where is he now?" "In his room." Clair said with a wink. I walked to their house it was just two houses away from ours. I went to his room. I saw him playing with his ball. "What are you doing?" I said, my hands on my waist. "Get out, I don't want to see you!" "Huh! After What you said to Renz your still going to act that way?" He got up "What did he say?" "He said,..amm that.,,,you...ammm.." "What?!" "He said you like me." I felt blood on my cheeks. There was silence...then he laughed. "What kind of joke is that? Are you kidding me? Why would I like someone like you?" "What do you mean by 'someone like me'? "Duh? look at you? You don't even look like a girl to me. You’re a tomboy. I don't even like your hair." He said straight to my face all those words. "You know what just forget it! I'm leaving." I ran downstairs crying. I can't believe I just swallowed my pride just to see him, and then he insults me like that? What a true blooded jerk he is. I will never forgive him! I will remember this day. I went to my room and wept. I passed out. Mom woke me up in the morning. "Honey, are you coming with us? "Where?" My eyes are swollen “The airport. The Walters are heading out. Oh yeah this is the day that my worst enemy is going away. At last, but I feel so down. "I won't come. Just say i had head ache. Just say my good byes to them." "Are you sure?" "Yes mom." She walked out the house. I heard the engine start...then they left. I can feel that there is this feeling inside me that is sad....why would I even feel this way? I mean I should be happy right? An hour later I saw an airplane went off, and I felt tears running down to my face.
