Chapter One- Her beginning...
It was the hottest day in June. The hospital had all doors open and fans turned on high. The mother was screaming at the doctor to shut the doors for privacy as she is in labor. The father standing by his wives side not knowing if he should walk away and just close them or stay by her side not letting go of her hand. Doctor says "Keep quite you don't want your baby being born into a stressful environment." Yelling profanity to make it happen the mother screams at the top of her lungs "Close the d*** door!, Are you crazy I have my legs wide open I don't want anyone to see." Looking surprised the nurse just runs to do so. With a brief moment there was silence, taking one last push, a cry made a tear fall from the mothers eye.  The doctor spoke up while handing the cutters to the father, "Cut the umbilical cord." With that the father did so without question and beamed down with happiness at his daughter. Cleaned now by the nurse the mother is finally getting the chance to hold ger for thr first time. "Oh my sweet child, are you ready for this?" The mother softly said. Her husband said "I have the perfect name if I may my dear." Wife nodding, the husband named their second born, "Makayla Joy Heart". Crying now the wife said " It's is wonderful bring in her big brother he is out there woth our parents."  Walking in her brother is not much older only 19 months. He giggles and she coos. They become two peas in a pod immediately. The next day they leave and head home.  As she cries and shows emotions her parents notice her dimples and bright blue eyes. Normally babies have grey eyes for the first six months. That's when her mother started saying "When you were born two angels came down and kissed you, one on each cheek." Makayla never gets tried of hearing that story as she would grow to think she had angels watching over her. 18 months later her baby sister was born and she was the one being brought in to meet her like her brother was when she was born.   After her baby sister was born they moved into her mothers parents house. Marrying young and 3 children while both in college. They were happy and in love. Nothing could stop their family from the bond they share. The Heart's were enjoying family around as their children grew up. Once Makayla turned five her parents decided to move out and get a house of their own. Which so happened to be on the other side of town. Spending the summer hanging out with grandma picking strawberries and raspberries. Never wanting to be away from her they went for a walk just the two of them.  On their walk they went down the curvy dirt road where they then turned around and a tiny kitten followed behind them. Having a jingle ball on a string that was be dragged by the kitten gave Makayla the idea to name the poor thing mister Bell. When they reached home her mother was saying "The only way we keep that kitten is if you clean up and take care of it." Agreeing to her mother she makes mister Bell feel right at home. Over the summer she becomes the best kitty mommy ever. One week til they move and school starts in two weeks. She is beginning kindergarten and has a four legged best friend that follows her everywhere. As she grows older she will forget the little things because one persons mind cannot hold a lifetime of memories that are crystal clear. Sharing a room with her sister and sleeping with the hall light on will become a new thing when they move. Packing stuffed animals and toys while the parents pack the important things. A sad night before the move as Makayla couldn't sleep for she longed to know what would lay ahead.  Sleeping in, her parents know she is not a morning person. They wake her up to eat breakfast that grandma made one last time. She clings to grandpa like she was holding on for dear life. Not realizing the curse that needs be broken comes from his blood line. So her many great grandfathers ago fell in love with someone and was married off to another woman because of blood lines. So the unloved woman bestowed a curse causing their family to forget their reality and stop shifting immediately. No one ever spoke of who they were before but they carried the gene no matter the curse. Once she let go of grandpa they ushered the kids to the car and began the 20 minutes it took to arrive at their first family home just the five of them.  Rushing out of the car she ran for the room she was to share with Hannah, her sister. It was purple and the shade of a lilac bush she would pick her mom for mother's day. The carpet was a deep violet like a stormy midnight sky. She spun in circles round and round until she fell over giggling feeling at home. Hannah came running in falling on top of her and she just continued to laugh until Gabriel entered the room. There older brother liked his silence and if not he wanted to be the one laughing the hardest among us. He was 2 doors down as he was the only boy and got a room to himself. He was excited they had a bathroom between them to drown out the noise he knew they would make.  As time went by the week pasted by and they were settled in their new home. School was starting fomorrow and she again couldn't sleep as she was overly excited and was thinking of almost everything she thought school would be like. If she would make friends, or if she would be alone. The night dragged on and she fell asleep half way falling out of the bed. She woke to the sound of her mother saying "wake up my little one your breakfast will be waiting for you. Hurry up before it gets cold. Get dressed first, dear." Makayla sat up and yawned while saying "Yes mama."  Sotting there for a moment Mister Bell purrs as he jumps on Makayla to make her hurry up because he is going to walk her to the bus. They practiced yesterday and today it's real. She almost falls on the floor puting her pants on because she is rushing to fast her feet are too slow. She giggles and then slows her pace making it to breakfast before the bacon is all gone. Its her favorite thing to eat even though shes a big girl shd feels small at heart. Once done she yells for mister and he comes running jumping on the shelf her parents put by the door she mister would be there instead of at our feet where he could get stepped on. Her parents and Bell walked her to the bus where she said "I can do this on my own. I'm a big girl now." She gave them hugs and kisses and ran on the bus where she told mister to go back him to Hannah. He did and she sat down waving out the window to her parents.  As the day went she made friends and had a blast learning. She went home and spent the afternoon with Hannah and her dad. Weeks were spent like that after school. One day when she got home she thought her dad was sleepy, so they played nap time and the three usually did take a nap until Gabe got home from school. Christmas time and they got a family dog, well puppy she was eight weeks old and loved so much. She took part in the naps as mister Bell was watching over them. Half way through the year she got off the bus and all the doors were locked. She couldn't get inside the house. She knocked on all windows she could reach. She could only hear the puppy barking when she knocked. Crying on the front steps for about 10 minutes her aunt shows up and says "Lets get in the car and go see Hannah, she is at my place. We can have hot coco when we get there." Makayla wipes her face with her jacket sleeve and mumbles "ok". Reaching for her aunt's hand she cries not knowing why her daddy had the floors locked. They have their hot coco within two hours they get in the car and go home. This time mama is yelling at dad and he looks so guilty. That night dad slept on the couch and the only reason I knew was because he is loud when he snores.  From that I day on her father never had the door locked even if Hannah was not there. It was an unspoken rule that us children always had a way inside the house. It was the middle of the country and no one but the 20 houses around us. As the years went by they had fun playing together but as no girls in the neighborhood her and Hannah became the best friends they ever had. Then as Makayla was going into third grade sche had new neighbors with a girl named Makayla in the same grade as her. This is when she thinks she would actually have a friend friend. That summer they became best friends and then the school year started and 5 more Makayla's were in her grade instead of just the one other from the previous years.
