#lovestorycontest - Queen's comeback

All her life, Calla Harlow had been an outcast. Being an Omega with a traitor for a father, and a mentally deranged patient as her mother, it was obvious that she had suffered more than enough in the hands of fate. When all she wants is to have a mate who will encourage her in the pursuit of her dreams to be a doctor and help save lives, the universe shows once again that it is not on her side, when she finds out to her greatest dismay, that she has been mated to the Pack’s ruthless brat.

Born as the only son of one of the noblest and most respected families in Golden Crest Pack, Adan Bradford grows up to be pampered, arrogant, and pompous. His wish is to have a submissive mate, who agrees with every decision he makes and lives only to serve and please him. When the moon goddess mates him to a nerd from the lowest rank in his pack, he is sure that there has been foul play, as there was no way someone like him could have anything whatsoever to do with someone like her.

Would Calla be able to tame the wild Alpha, or will her dreams of being a doctor be destroyed? Can two opposite souls find peace with each other?

POV: Calla Harlow If I was asked to describe myself in one word, it would be Loner. I just wanted to live peacefully, avoid the company of other people, especially the other members of the Golden Crest Pack, to which I belonged, and focus on my dreams and aspirations in life. There was more to life than being a member of a pack of werewolves, and it wasn’t easy, especially because I was an Omega, a lone wolf, who was treated in the shittiest manner ever. No one cared about me at all, and they all treated me like dirt because I was a member of the lowest rank in my pack, but I was less concerned about how they treated me. Someday, I was going to surf beyond being a werewolf, become a doctor, which was inevitable since I had perfect grades, and do my possible best to save lives, so I never had to mourn the loss of anyone ever again. There was only one period left before school came to an end for today, and I really couldn’t wait to get back home, not because I had spa appointments like most girls who were turning 17 soon, but because I had to study for the next week’s tests. Speaking about turning 17, my birthday was in a week, and unlike most teenagers who felt excited about their birthdays, I was indifferent about it. I didn’t think birthdays were worth making a big deal about; birthdays only signified that one was getting closer and closer to their death. Aside from that, turning seventeen only meant that I was going to be saddled with a mate soon by the Moon goddess. Lately, my only prayer had just been to be blessed with a mate who was understanding, caring, and encouraging. I didn’t want to be one of those narcissistic male idiots who felt that the world revolved around them. I just wanted someone who would understand me and encourage me to pursue my dreams. If wishes were horses... The bell was soon going to be heard for the last period of today, and instead of daydreaming, as usual, I just needed to get my books from my locker and be on my way. “Hey, loser,” a voice called. I looked up to see it was no other person than the Pack’s brat, Adan Bradford, a narcissistic controlling bastard, who only did things as long as they were beneficial to him. “Hey, d**k face,” I responded, forcing a smile I could tell obviously looked weird. “Coming from someone that looks like what a dog spat out, that sounds like a compliment. Thanks, Catherine,” he said, throwing a folded piece of paper in my face. I caught it, and clenched my fists, getting worked up as usual. “For the umpteenth time, my name is Calla,” I said. “If you think I give a hoot about what your name is, you must be slowly losing your mind, like your mother,” he said. I opened my mouth to speak, but just then, the bell for the next class rang. “Later, loser,” he said, turned around, and walked down the hallway. “My mother isn’t out of her mind,” I said to myself, feeling a little bit sad about what he had said, as I watched him leave. I looked at a picture of my mum and I, which was pinned to my locker, and I managed to wear a smile on my face after seeing it. Closing the locker, I ran all the way to class, with my hair bouncing up and down. We were having Biology, and I was very much aware that if Miss Andrea got to class before anyone, that person wouldn’t be allowed in. So, it didn’t bother me that people were pointing fingers at the school’s biggest nerd, which was me, by the way. People’s stares and gossip didn’t matter, as long as I got to class early, and understood all that was going to be taught today. I got to the classroom and discovered that Miss Andrea wasn’t in the class yet. Heaving a sigh of relief, I took the only empty seat, which was the first seat in the third row, and sat down, after making sure that it wasn’t dusty. In her usual fashion, Miss Andrea cat-walked into the class, making clinking sounds with her silhouette heels. I admired her a lot. Not only was she a beautiful brunette, but she also had a great fashion sense, and was very smart and good at her job. “I’m guessing you all did the assignment I gave in my last class?” She inquired, with her eyes fixated on the class representative. There were low murmurs in the classroom, and with my werewolf super sense of hearing, I heard that a lot of people hadn’t even known that there was an assignment given to us. Why was I even surprised? A lot of people being in class didn’t signify that a lot of people were actually paying attention to what was going on. To my greatest surprise, Adan walked into the classroom, dragging his feet along. I had never seen him in our Biology class before now, and I wondered what he was doing here. I adjusted my glasses to make sure I wasn’t dreaming, and I realized that I wasn’t. Adan Bradford was in my Biology class, in flesh and blood. “Mr. Bradford, what a pleasant surprise,” Miss Andrea said. Adan stopped right in his tracks and acknowledged her with just a nod of his head. “Are you sure you’re in the right class?” She asked. “Yeah. At least, that’s what the guidance counselor said, after convincing me that I needed Biology. I’m only here to prove her wrong,” he replied. “I sincerely hope you do, because I don’t want anyone to be forced to take my class. Do have your seat, but be rest assured that this is the first and last time that I’m ever going to let you into my class when I’m present already,” She warned him, in a stern manner. “Yeah, thanks,” he muttered, and looked around, apparently searching for an empty seat. Seeing that he had no option, he walked towards where I sat, told me to adjust, and sat down beside me, dumping his books on the desk. “So, back to what I was saying, is there anyone in this class who takes my assignment seriously?” Miss Andrea asked, looking around. I brought out the assignment which I had done and was about to raise my hand, in order to signify that I had taken her assignment seriously, and had done it correctly. Adan held my hand midway, and our eyes met. A smirk played around his lips, and he slowly put my hand back on the desk. My heart skipped, and I didn’t even try to resist him. I didn’t want to, but I liked the way his hand felt against mine. It was warm, and as much as I hated to admit it, it was very soothing. “Calla Harlow,” Miss Andrea called. I jolted from my thoughts as soon as I heard Miss Andrea call my name, and looked up at her. “Yes, Miss Andrea?” I responded. “Please, tell me you did the assignment,” she said. I opened my mouth to speak, and Adan, whose hand was still resting upon mine, pricked my wrist with his sharp fingernails, which almost made me wince due to the slight pain it had caused. “I... I forgot that we had an assignment to do,” I stuttered, lying to her for the first time. “Wow. Just wow,” Miss Andrea said, with her voice laced with disappointment. “I gave an assignment and you all failed to do it. What am I doing here? Wasting my time?” She asked no one in particular. “Yes,” Adan responded, in a very low tone, so that only people around us could hear what he had said. “If you choose to play with your future, that’s fine. There won’t be a test next week. Instead, there would be a presentation and an essay, which would take thirty percent of your grade score for this subject. The class representative will be given the topics you are to write on, and you should note that it’s going to be a group assignment. Whoever you’re sitting next to will be your partner. Do you all understand?” Miss Andrea asked, after giving an announcement that was already causing an uproar in the class. There was no definite answer, as everyone was just talking and doing different things. While some preferred a test, some wanted to do their assignments alone, but obviously, Miss Andrea didn’t care. “The essay should be submitted and presented in our next week’s Friday class. If you fail to do the assignment, you’ll lose thirty marks, and there will be no make-up test. Have a good day,” She said, picked up her books, and walked out of the class, while everyone continued to murmur. I sighed, feeling bad for letting my favorite teacher down, and packed my books. “Where are you going to, loser?” Adan asked. “It’s none of your business, d!ck face,” I retorted, shoved the middle finger in his face, and stormed off, with guilt tugging at my heart. Perhaps, Miss Andrea wouldn’t have gotten angry and given us a presentation if only one of us had done the assignment, but like a fool, I had let my emotions cloud my better judgment. I hadn’t acted like a fool; I was a fool.
