Chapter 1
Cassandra's POV I heaved a sign before heading to the aisle. It's my wedding day, yet the worst day of my life. It never came to my mind to get married at twenty-one and marry a guy I had never met before. However, there is no turning back. I was tied to an agreement my parents made with their business partner. My name is Cassandra Smith, and I am the youngest daughter of my parents. I had three elder sisters, who all had their own families and businesses. My parents are always influential in our family, and we must obey them no matter their decisions. That was the sad reality of my so-cold family history. The loud applause roamed my ear, worsening my nervousness. I felt mixed emotions; fear and excitement. This was the first time I would meet my fiance, and he was now waiting for me in the aisle. I took a deep breath. I didn't expect this! I thought my fiance was the opposite of my dream guy because of his parents' appearance. I couldn't see in him the resemblance of his parents. Or he got his facial features from his grandparents, which is possible. Hell! I was terrified of what I was seeing while stepping slowly toward him. I held my father's left arm firmly as pressure triggered my whole being. Anxiousness ate my confidence so badly! My fiance was drop-dead handsome! He stood six feet and had a robust body that fitted in his cream tuxedo. He's grave; he didn't even show a tiny smile. It seemed he was also unhappy with our marriage. And that impression broke my heart instantly. Although I was not interested in him initially, I didn't want to share my whole life with a man who didn't care about me. People were whispering, yet I focused on the priest, waiting to begin the ceremony. I looked straight into my fiance's dim eyes, and he refused to set his eyes on me; instead, he approached my father. After shaking their hands,' my father left me in the arms of my cold-hearted fiance. He didn't even give me a smile or a single word. He's cold as ice. Even his kiss on my cheek felt cold; he had no emotions. Am I married to a dead person? That was my thought after the marriage ceremony; then, we proceeded to the hotel where the party was held. It's a nightmare to marry an emotionless guy! Jacob was the weirdest guy I had ever met. And his silence kept me asking myself if it was real or maybe he was pretending to make me feel worthless, which might force me to file for a divorce. I wiped out the stupid idea in my mind to calm myself. It's nonsense, though. "Congratulations!" people greeted us as we arrived at the hotel's vast and elegant ballroom. There are thousands of visitors, primarily politicians, celebrities, and businessmen. My parents were elite personalities in California. And their fame ran into our blood as their daughters. Despite that wealth and fame, I still long for a free, peaceful life where I can do whatever my heart desires. Well, it's my reality. After almost three hours of staying at the party, I proceeded to our hotel room. I left Jacob, who was busy entertaining his friends. I undressed to remove the icing on my neck, arms, and face. "This is ridiculous!" I shrieked while facing my nakedness in the mirror and washing my face with water. I went to the shower and finished taking a bath. My mind couldn't stop overthinking, worrying, and asking what life I would have with Jacob. And speaking of Jacob, he arrived. I hurriedly washed up the soap foam in my body and took the towel hanging on the steel bar. "Hey! Are you there?" asked Jacob in a stern voice. He sounded drunk. "Yeah! I just finished taking a bath!" I yelled. I quickly wrapped my body with the towel. "Hurry up! I'm next!" he said. I went out and almost slipped on the floor when I saw Jacob naked, leaning his back on the sink's edge. I threw my gaze at the door and walked away quickly. "Why are you scared?" he asked. I stopped and turned to him. "I-I'm not!" I stared at his serious face. "Why can't you look at my whole body?" "Why should I do that?" My eyes widened in shock. Jacob chuckled. "I'm your husband. Tonight was supposed to be the beginning of our honeymoon." I faced him straight and forgot I hadn't coiled my towel tight. I raised my two hands to fix the towel on my hair. "Oh my gosh!" My towel dropped on the floor, both from my hair and body! Before I recovered my nakedness, Jacob already saw my private part, yet his looks weren't affected. He just looked at me from head to foot. "Not bad," he uttered and went to the shower room. I can't help, but my eyes seem to have their own life. I saw Jacob's colossal armor swaying as he walked. “Oh-My-God!” I shockingly said. "Don't panic. Our first night together won't cause you trauma or bore you. I'm not naive in bed," he said, facing me again. My eyes almost crossed as I set them directly on Jacob's lower body. His masculinity caused my throat to dry as if I hadn't drunk water for a week. I swallowed hard to clear my throat and ignored him. I ran out of the bathroom. I quickly got dressed, wearing my purple nightie and black lingerie inside. I sat in front of the mirror and dried my hair with a towel. Later, I realized that Jacob was just like me. He was obeying his parent's decision; maybe, he didn't have a choice either. He's the only son, so it's not possible that his parents will secure his future as the sole heir. I focused my eyes on my reflection when Jacob came from the bathroom. The towel wrapped his lower body. I looked at him through the mirror. And I remembered what he said about the honeymoon. My mom said our honeymoon would be in the countryside, where Jacob's parents had a villa. "Are you ready?" asked Jacob. I turned to him. "Ready for what?" I asked confusedly. "For the honeymoon." I laughed. "Are you serious? I think we aren't obliged to do that," I protested. "Or you're just scared." He sat on the edge of the bed. "Of course not!" I chuckled. "I thought you were not interested in me, so why do we need to follow the newly-wed traditions?" Jacob darted his sharp gaze at me. "This is not about tradition, Cassandra. We are obliged to do this as part of marriage." "Yeah, but this is just an arranged marriage. We don't have to deal with the usual activities. We can live together without s*x!" I stood up. "You're not listening to your parents, are you?" "I did. Did I miss something?" I panicked. My mother and I have recently argued about the marriage agreement's inclusion. Jacob stood and stepped towards me, staring straight into my eyes. His intent stares made me feel anxious. I moved backward as he moved closer to me, but the table's edge trapped me. I was close to Jacob, an inch away, yet I didn't dare look at his face. I lowered my gaze to his masculine chest. "Our parents want a grandchild after our marriage," he whispered. I could smell his warm and fresh breath. "My mom didn't tell me that." I raised my gaze at Jacob's blue eyes. "Yes, because you didn't listen to her. Last night, we talked, and she asked a favor." "What favor?" My heart couldn't stop pounding. "She asked me to take care of you. I don't want to disappoint our parents, so I need to handle this relationship until you agree to have a child after marriage," he said. "What if I don't?" I raised my left eyebrow. "You have to." He leaned his hands on the table's edge, each side of me, so I was cornered in his arms. "And don't worry, I'll be a good husband for you. And I won't force you to get pregnant right away. Becoming a mother or parent is not a piece of cake. You must be emotionally, physically, and mentally prepared and stable." "So, why are you agreeing about early pregnancy?" Jacob stepped backward, crossing his arms. "To stop them from pressuring us." I giggled. "Our parents will assume I will get pregnant before the year ends. How can you handle the situation?" "Don't stress yourself about that. It's easier to lie than tell the truth." He went back to bed. I felt relief. "What? Are you planning stupid things?" "No. I'm just defending your side. And to get peace of mind too." "What if our parents ask about the child?" "We will tell them we tried our best, but getting pregnant is not easy." I inhaled. Jacob's idea calmed me. "Good idea. Thank you for being so understanding," I said, giggling. "But we still need to do the usual couple responsibility, especially sex." I was indeed speechless in shock. But I must be responsible to Jacob. My husband has s****l needs, and if I didn't give them to him, he might be tempted to cheat. And once their parents figure it out, their reputation will be ruined. "I'm not sure about that. Let's see sooner," I said, turning back to the mirror.
