The Princess Next Door

Cara's P.O.V. As I'm packing up my last box to move to my new college, I hear my Aunt Dana screaming some kind of craziness at my Uncle Ken. I go to the staircase and hear her say, " Cara cannot leave us. She must be protected at all costs." she says. Then my Uncle says, " Dana quit being unreasonable, she is going to a college in a small town. No one will know her. " he said as he looked up at me standing on the stairs and motioned for me to come down. I walked down wondering why they are talking about me as if I am in some kind of danger. " What's going on?" I ask them as they are standing in the living room with both of their faces red from arguing. My aunt is petite but fiery for her age and my Uncle is like a big teddy bear. He has always been there for me while my aunt has always seemed to have it out for me. I was told my parents dropped me off with them when I was two years old and ran away. " Cara, listen. Since you were little we have always had to keep you safe due to your parents running away. We think someone was after them, that's why you have never met your other family." my uncle said as he came over to give me a hug. I hugged him back, feeling safe in his arms. " Well I'm glad you told me, don't worry all that Jiu Jitsu training will come into play if I feel threatened." I told him jokingly. He looked at me and smiled while my Aunt just walked out of the room in a huff. " Don't worry, finish packing and I'll help you load up the rest of your stuff." he said as he walked into the kitchen after my aunt. As my Uncle and I loaded up my car, He handed me a can of pepper spray to attach to my keychain. " Hey you can't ever be too careful." he said as he hugged me. " You know you Aunt doesn't like goodbyes, call me when you reach your apartment. " " I will Uncle and thank you for everything. " I drove east about two hours away from my home in Arkansas to a small town in Texas where I was going to be going to school for Accounting. I love math and wanted to work with numbers. I was kind of a geek in school, but I didn't mind being close to only a few people. I arrived at my apartment and I got the keys from the landlord. I was on the second floor, so I was definitely going to get my workout in. I had to climb stairs on the outside and then I would reach my apartment. Thankfully it was partially furnished and I wouldn't have to worry about furniture, just my basics. I got my last box out of the car when I slipped and fell on the second to last step. The box fell out of my hand and opened up and it was my lingerie. It spread out all over the steps outside of the building. " Oh my gosh " I groaned as I hurried to gather all of my things before someone saw it spread out everywhere. I quickly climbed down the steps and almost slipped again when a man's hand grabbed my waist before I fell. I looked up and saw the greenest eyes on the most handsome man Ihad ever seen. He was at least 6'3 compared to my 5'4 height. He has dark eyebrows and dark brown hair with a chiseled jaw. His arm muscles barely contained themselves in his polo and his waist was trim. I almost couldn't speak as he helped me up. " Ummm..thank you." I stammered out as I kept staring. " Haha, your welcome. You might need these later" as he handed me a pair of my lacy thong underwear. " Oh my goodness" I blushed as I quickly grabbed them from him. He helped me gather the rest that had fallen on the last few steps. As he handed me the rest of my lingerie, he had a smirk on his face. "What's your name, I've never seen you around before." he said as I quickly put everything back in my box. " I'm Cara, I just moved here for college." " A beautiful name for a beautiful girl, my name is Shawn. Nice to meet you Cara. I live in 4B." " Oh that's nice, I live in 5A across the hall. " " Well Cara, I hope to see you again, if you need anything you now know where I live" he winked at me as he walked past me towards his car. I just watched him as I stood there frozen, not believing such a handsome stranger talked to me. As I walked up the steps to my apartment, my phone started ringing and I had forgotten to call my Uncle." Everything okay Cara? I haven't heard from you and I was worried. " he said. " I'm fine Uncle" as I walked into my apartment and locked the door. " Great to hear, Cara. If you need anything, please call me ok? I love you." he said and I replied " Love you too." as we hung up. I got ready for bed as I was putting on my lingerie, I couldn't help but think about Shawn and how handsome he was. Just thinking about him made me wet. I never gave myself to anyone in high school, and only had one boyfriend. We had kissed and gone further but it wasn't mind blowing like I had read in my romance novels. I was really hoping to see Shawn again tomorrow. Maybe he could be the one to change my life.
