"I swear to every god out there that I will kill you if you don't tell me what I need to know!" The man shook in fear but his eyes held defiance.

"She is a hybrid, why does she even matter?" He tried to push himself out of my grip and I bared my fangs at him, warning him to stop.

"I am the one asking the questions here and I want to know where you people have taken her. Tell me now or you will never see the light of day again. Or maybe you will, when your guts are splayed out in front of you!"

He started to chuckle. "The Salvus that I know would never do such a thing to an old friend of his." I pulled him closer and slammed him back against the wall, making the dent that was there worse.

"That Salvus died when you people took her from me!"

*~*~*~*

Salvus was never supposed to meet Mischen. He just happened to take a wrong turn and ended up in her pack. He was hated at first because of him being a vampire but he doesn't care when he sees her. Immediately he knew that she was his beloved but she was young at the time. Deciding that he still wanted her but knowing he couldn't have her because of her age, Salvus stays close to her.

One day, he is told her secret. Mischen is a hybrid. Hybrids had been 'outlawed' for years. If one was born they are to be killed, thus the reason why Mischen being a hybrid is kept a secret. Only it wasn't a secret anymore. She had been discovered. So now Mischen and Salvus are on the run.

Prologue
I met her when she was four years old. She was so little and fragile, like a human. Only she wasn’t. Human, I mean. I had been meeting a friend at his new house but I took a wrong turn and ended up at a pack house. I remember the alpha of the pack, the Dusk Moon Pack, was furious at me. He was yelling that I shouldn’t be on his land and how he would kill me if I didn’t get back in my car and turn around. I was pretty sure he hated vampires at the time. When I proceeded to tell him I took a wrong turn, a guilty look crossed his face. “Alpha Weiss,” he introduced himself calmly. “Salvus,” I nodded in acknowledgment. “So if you could just show me the wa-” Then a scent entered my nose that made me want to fall to my knees. Pumpkin spice and vanilla. I looked around only to see a little girl. She had dirty blonde hair and green eyes that were always sparkling. So innocent. So young. Not to mention my beloved. She ran to Alpha Weiss and buried her head against his legs. He chuckled and picked her up. He looked back at me and held her tighter, just a bit. That made her look over to me and blush. “Right, so a way out of here.” I looked back to Alpha Weiss. “You’re just going to go towards the town and there’s a highway that is branched out on the left side. That’ll take you anyway you want.” Only I didn’t want to leave. I wanted to know who the little girl was. After all, she would be mine one day. I never thought that my beloved would be another species. Especially for them to be a werewolf. It was rare, near impossible, for a vampire to have a mate of another race except for our own or a human. The girl started to struggle in Alpha Weiss’ arms. She eventually broke out of his hold and ran to me. As soon as her arms wrapped around my legs I felt sparks. I knew she wouldn’t feel them. She wouldn’t even feel the bond until she could shift. She would probably only feel an urge to be around me, her child-like curiosity adding in as well. Alpha Weiss, who had shock written across his face, immediately pulled her away from me. “I’m sorry. She’s not usually like thi-” His eyes zoned out. He was mind linking someone. When he came back to cursed under his breath. “Mischen, we’re going back inside.” Mischen. That was her name. Unique and beautiful. “You,” he looked at me, “either get out of here or help fight off the rogues. You turn on us and I will kill you.” His eyes narrowed. “Painfully.” “Keep your wolves off of me and I’ll help.” I’ll never let the pack with my mate in it get hurt. Never. He nodded and gestured for me to follow. When we got near their pack house there was a woman with blonde hair waiting anxiously. “Joli! Take Mischen,” he set her down, “and get to the safe room.” Mischen looked back at me before running to the woman who proceeded to take Mischen into her arms. My heart broke a bit while she was being taken away from me. I will see her again, I told myself over and over again. I followed Weiss out to the opposite end of his territory where there were wolves fighting other wolves. It didn’t look like there were many rogues, ten maybe twenty. You could always tell what wolves were rogues. Their fur was more matted because they tended not to take care of themselves. They also had this hint of a smell I can’t quite describe. You see, all wolves have a hint of a smell that links them to a pack but since rogues are their own group, they have their own scent. Alpha Weiss shifted into his wolf. It was quite large with shaggy blond fur to match his shaggy blond hair. He was, of course, larger than the other wolves due to his Alpha status. It gave him an advantage when he started tearing into the group of rogues. I was about to join him when I noticed a rogue, who was off to the side, sneaking past the fight and closer towards the pack house. It took off running as soon as it got past the brawling wolves. I turned to follow it only to be tackled by another rogue. It’s fur was a matted dark muddy brown. It’s teeth were yellow as it tried to reach for my neck. I narrowed my eyes and grabbed onto its neck, crushing it beneath my hands. It whimpered and thrashed for a minute before I yanked it, ending its pathetic life. I threw the limp body off of me before it shifted back to the human form. There were less rogues now, but I spotted a few people who were injured or dead that weren’t rogues. A wolf went for Alpha Weiss, making me lunge towards them. A scream was heard from nearer the pack house and Alpha Weiss and I both looked up. He growled and started to run towards it, worry in his eyes. That only made my thoughts more prominent. It could be Mischen. Alpha Weiss and I ran towards the scream. The rogue that I saw slip past the group stood in front of Mischen. I saw another form lying on the ground, unconscious but chest still rising and falling. Luna Joli. Alpha Weiss growled and ran towards Luna Joli, his wolf probably taking over with the need to protect his mate. Meanwhile, I could feel my blood boiling when the rogue went to jump at Mischen. In the next second I was in front of her, facing the rogue, eyes black in furry. No one messes with my beloved. The rogue growled, taking a step forward. I flashed my fangs. It took a step back. I looked behind me, checking on Mischen. She was crying. Otherwise, she just overall seemed to be frozen in fear. I immediately regretted looking behind me as I felt the rogue tackle me. Its claws swiped at my face, surely cutting me. It would heal soon enough. I put one hand on the rogue chest and used my other hand to keep its teeth away from my face. Claws pushed into my stomach. Groaning, I did the same, only without claws. I felt ribs crack under my hand as claws continued to swipe at me and its jaw trying to push my hand away. Blood began to pour around my hand as I reached for its heart. A weird growl/whimper sound emanated from its throat. I grabbed onto the heart, tugging it until it came out of the rogues chest. The rogue started to shift back to human form as it fell on top of me. I pushed it - her off of me. It was a medium built female with ratty hair and pale, dirty skin. I pushed her off of me and took off my blood soaked shirt. I put it over her naked form. There’s no reason to humiliate her dead body. She probably just lost her sanity after something happened. I don’t know her history so I can’t judge her for going absolutely rogue. Looking down, I noticed that the wounds on my stomach were already healing. The process would go faster once I got some blood in my system but right now my beloved was crying in front of me. I kneeled down in front of the young girl and pulled her into my arms. I looked over to find a shifted Alpha Weiss holding onto his now conscious mate who was looking at him like he was her world. One day, when Mischen is all grown up, perhaps she will look at me like that. Until then, she needs to grow and learn on her own. For that I will need to let her be without me. At least for the most part. . .
