Chapter One
The sound of bones cracking, shifting and remolding itself up under Avery's skin brought a sigh out of her. She leaned against the white kitchen countertops and sipped on her glass of cold water. She was use to this, her beast fighting with her human side. It always created a rift between the two and made Avery half shift. Her house doors opened. Her mother walked in with a scowl, as usual. "Do you want to tell me where you've been?" She crosses her arms, Avery shrugged and moved to the fridge for another bottle of water. Staying hydrated was her key to stopping shifts half of the time. The coolness of the water chilled her overheated wolf till the point that she fell back into her corner in the back of Avery's conscience. "I wouldn't know I can't remember" she replied bitterly and it was true. She can't remember a single thing from last night, around seven p.m when she stopped drinking cold water. It got to the point where she had to pee every hour and she didn't like that but consequences served her up right after. Her wolf was able to get out and block Avery off from reality, creating an alternate reality for her to bask in. It was a bittersweet memory. One she didn't want to remember. "You killed seven people last night Avery, seven" her mother hissed. Avery cringed internally. She didn't want to show how much her wolfs killings affected her but it did and she didn't know what to do about it. Though. . .there was one thing. . .she shook her head. Nope. She wouldn't and couldn't. "I don't know what to say" Avery replied in a monotone voice. She honestly didn't know what to say, what was she supposed to do. It wasn't her fault she was overcome by her weakness and her wolf got out. It wasn't her fault. She shook her head of all thoughts and put on a blank expression as she headed for the stairs. "You need to get control of that f****d up wolf of your young lady! I will not stand for another murder! I can't stand for it!" Avery ignored her mothers rant and walked into her spotless bathroom. This, like everything else in the house, was made out of white wood, white marble and any other type of material she could get in white. Avery always said if she couldn't get her wolf under control then she had to have something she could control and OCD kicked in when she turned fifteen. She became persistent on clearing her room and the house itself leaving no dirt left behind but since the wood in her house was so dark, she'd always have to rewash one place over and over again thinking that it wasn't clean enough. That's when her mother bought her the house she has today. A two story Victorian styled house right on the outskirts of the Canadian borders. No, she was not from Canada but almost every America wolf pack had to move here because of the America government not agreeing with the werewolf council. They were in the middle of an upcoming war with the human world. Werewolves did not agree with the government ruling over them and the risk they are putting humans in. You see the human kind is slowly dying off and Avery's killings aren't helping but werewolf bites and fairly effective and can save a human from sudden death. The human government wants the werewolves to bite as many humans as possible to save them but if they did, there is a chance that half can become bitten rogues and the other half dies. Bitten rogues are lethal and venomous and the werewolf council cannot have that type of werewolf roaming the world. Especially since humans aren't genetically made to mate with a werewolf. There is no way that they'd be able to carry a litter of pups with their low immune systems and disease worthy bodies. Avery shivered as she stepped under the cold water. Just the thought of humans bodies made her shudder in disgust. They weren't and never will be suitable for a werewolf to mate with and create strong genetic off-springs.
