Chapter 1
The sun fell further into the earth until it was swallowed up. Only darkness surrounded me.  As the moon started to rise I could feel the change beginning. My brother Amos prepared me for this.  We were twins but he has his change on our fifteenth birthday two years ago.  Now at seventeen I knew my time had finally come.  I wasn’t sure exactly what was going to happen. Amos told me to prepare myself that the first time was going to be painful. He said it would feel like every bone in my body was breaking and reconnecting itself in rapid speed.  But not in form of a human but form of a wolf.  I had a chance to myself to clear my mind.  Since I had always been on the shy side especially when it came to my body.  I was grateful that both Amos and our father stayed inside.  I went to the field by our home. All the hairs on my neck stood up.  I could tell the change was coming.  I took a deep breathe trying to relax my body as much as possible before it began.  Breathe in . . . 2. . . 3. . .   Breathe out  . . . 2 . . . 3 . . .             Before I got a chance to take another breathe I heard a scream. I then realized I was the one who was screaming.  The long wolf coats fur began to grow on my arms as my bones twisted to form the arms and legs of the majestic creature.  I wasn’t sure how long it’d taken me to transform.  But all my senses were heightened.  I could feel Amos’s wolves presences as well as our fathers.              A howl erupted from both of them which I joined in on.  It felt good to finally be one with them.  I felt like an outsider the past couple years.  Not only being the only girl in the house. But, also the only “human” still.  I felt my paws grip the earth under me.  Sending dirt flying behind.  I took off full speed for the trees around us.  Not knowing which direction to go first. Just knowing I needed to run. My wolf had longed to be out. She had been trapped inside my body for so long. She needed to run and be free.             With a thud my body knocked to the ground.  Amos tackled me, he mind linked that I should have been paying more attention to my surrounding and would have heard him coming. I rolled my eyes. Knowing that if my wolf wasn’t so crazed inside of me from the initial change. I would have taken his ass down in a second.              I nipped at him and he took off running howling at the moon.  I heard a stream nearby, we stopped at it and lapped up the water.  Our father, Gillian, came soon after.  He stood quietly taking in his children as wolves.  He had green piercing eyes that had a sadness to them. His grey coat shined in the moon light.  Amos resembled our father a lot except for his eyes he had our mothers eyes.  That’s what our father told us. We never got to meet her. She died during child birth. Amos had dark brown eyes that almost looked black.  When I was younger I would tease him that they were as black as his soul.              As I looked in the water I got to see my own wolf for the first time.  My brown coat shinning in the moonlight.  My eyes were one green one brown.  My father used to tell me I got one from him and one from my mother.  While not completely unheard of it is unusual for one to have two different eye colors.  In my human form I was able to hide it with contacts.  But as a wolf there was no hiding it.  Most people would be proud. But it was just something else that made me stand out that I was unique or different.
