The Beta and her Alpha

Alice’s POV “Alice get up, Zane is here to get you to plan you and his 18th birthday party!” My mother yelled as she was running out the door late for her meeting with the current alpha. I get up and rub my eyes trying to rub the tiredness away. I put on my glasses and put my long natural waist length dark silver hair into a messy bun and pulled some strands down to frame my face. I threw on a maroon crop top and high waisted leggings and some black vans. I was going around with Zane our future alpha who I was beta to and our gamma Rj, to find outfits for mine and Zane’s birthday party. We share the same birthday, I’m like 2 hours older and always mess with him about it and he hates it. “Alice!” Zane yells snapping me out of my thoughts. “We still have to go pick up Rj!” “Okay!” I yell back grabbing my clear lip gloss and my bag. I also grabbed my key and locked the door as I ran out. I jumped into the convertible over the door into the passenger seat. Zane just gave me a look because he has told me not to do that every time I did it. But I felt cool so why should I stop? I bobbled around smiling while putting on my seat belt as he giggled while shaking his head at me. I patted him on the shoulder and he started on his way to get Rj from his house. The pack land was insanely beautiful and even living here your whole life you never get used to the beauty it holds. Vibrant flowers and the greenest of greenery. Zanes family always held that as a priority. One of the most powerful wolf packs and the most beautiful one by a landslide. A beautiful silver lake and white tipped mountains also surrounding the land added to the gorgeous scenery. I never got tired of hiking the trails and training in the thick wooded areas. Zane needs us at the top of our game and trained well to make sure we are at par of what an alpha, beta, and gamma should be. He even went as far as having back ups in case we were ever captured or killed so he would have someone to step in and help at the drop of a dime. I didn’t think of it as rude or as I’m replaceable. It’s very responsible of him and honestly admirable for someone so young to think of to ensure the safety of the Silver Lake pack. We all trained the same way even the back ups. Rj shut the door to the back seat jolting me from my thoughts as he got into the car. He patted my shoulder asking “You alright mousy” I rolled my eyes, “I hate that nick name! I’m fine with ‘little one’ like Zane calls me but ‘mousy’ just makes me sound week and timid” “Oh Alice lighten up” Zane chimed in while chuckling as per usual when it comes to Rj calling me mousy. I ignored them and turned up the radio so we didn’t have to speak on the way to the mall. We arrive at the mall, got out the car and Zane lead us right to where the boys needed to get there outfits. Even though it wasn’t Rj’s birthday as well, he had to dress to impress also. I would be next after I helped them decide on the perfect ensemble. The boys only took about 30 minutes each and they purchased their stuff and now I was in the hot seat. I could always count on them to be brutally honest. “You look so weird in that, like you look wonky.” Rj says as he tilts his head and closes one eye as if he is trying to make it look better. Zane just giggled and looked at his shoes. So I head back into the dressing room. I have tried on eight dresses so far. I saved the best for last but when I tried it on I decided instantly I was getting it and got back into regular clothes and hid it under the pile of other dresses to keep it a secret from the boys. I’m not girly but this dress screamed elegance and beauty and I wanted to have jaws drop on my birthday. The boys looked at me confused but I shrugged it off walking passed them trying to hurry to the cashier handing her the dress I want and giving another woman the other dresses to hang up. She bagged it, I swiped my moms card she gave me and was on my way. The boys followed me out as I felt eyes on us as we left. Which wasn’t uncommon when you see to her handsome extremely tall boys over 6 foot and a short semi pretty 5 foot tall girl walking around together. “We still have 2 weeks until our birthday.” I whined wishing it was here so we could soon take our places as alpha, beta, and gamma. “Stop sulking, we have training to do.” Zane states as he pulled up to the training grounds. We left our bags in the car and went over to all the Warriors and omegas. We were training along side the warriors today and teaching the omegas new moves to keep them strong and in with the new fighting styles in case we encounter a rouge attack and we need to count on them until we get to where they are depending on the place of attack. Training was a b***h today but we accomplished a lot. Besides the girls ogling Zane and Rj the whole time. Like seriously, Zane has never dated and they still think they have a chance? Rj has dated, I think he just enjoys the attention. He’s hooked up with one or two but never went all the way in respect of his true mate he has been dying to meet. Zane and I on the other hand aren’t really looking for our mates and never really showed interest. Not that Zane wasn’t excited to meet his future Luna, but he was also very goal oriented and wanted to make sure he was the best he could be for our pack and for her when he does meet her. Also, we were always so busy training and learning all we could from our parents. My mom is beta to Zane’s father. Rj was an amazing fighter and as gamma he would be in charge of trainings and making sure everyone was in shape and some of the affairs outside of the pack that Zane gives him from his architectural company his family owns. But, only when we all officially become the leaders of the pack. I will be Vice President and help with a lot along with travel to the states and other countries who have projects with us. I had Zane drive me back to the cabin my mom brings us to during spring break and in the summer. It’s spring break and so We were staying there. We come to get away from the pack. All though we love them all, it’s nice to escape and take a breath of fresh air and relax. We were heading back to the pack house tomorrow because we’ve been here for almost a week. “You sure you don’t want to come back tonight and play video games before we have to go back to school and can’t play as long?” Zane asks. We would always play call of duty together and even ranked in the top 10% of all players. We’ve been getting so good and play every chance we get but we haven’t played since we won first place and out of excitement we kissed. We didn’t just kiss, it got heated and one thing lead to another. *flash back 2 weeks prior* “We are about to win! Zane we are so close please don’t f**k this up” I yell half serious half excitedly. “We won Alice! Nice final kill shot!” He yells and we both jump up off the couch. He lifts me up pulling me into a hug. I look down at him the shock still all over our faces as he holds my face with one hand while the other is still holding me up and pulls me in for a kiss. I go to gasp in shock and he uses that to deepen the kiss. Heat filling me and his tongue explores the inside of my mouth. I can’t help but to kiss him back putting both my hands on both sides of his face feeling his chiseled jaw resting in my palms. He was so sexy and I gave in to my desires and deepen the kiss, my tongue wrestling with his. We ended up back on the couch touching each other letting the warmth fill us with every touch. He reached under my shirt and bra and started to pinch and twist my n*****s making me wet and moan with desire. Suddenly there was a knock at the door making us jump away from each other while panting, trying to catch our breath. * I blush thinking back but, that just can’t happen again. “Alice?” Zane pulls me back from my thoughts. What was I thinking? I can’t like him, he will be my alpha and I his beta. What would my mate or future Luna think if he or she ever found out about it. They would be so upset and our jobs for the pack require us to always be around each other. I know the mate bond will remove all feelings for someone prior to meeting our mate but what if they feel weird about it? I just can’t risk that. I shook my head and replied “yeah, let me pack up and I’ll leave a note for my mom. I miss my bed!” He laughed at me and walked out to wait in the car while I ran around like a crazy woman. I could play video games and not have that happen again right? Yeah, we can just play in the rec room in separate love sac bean bag chairs. That would create the space we need. Zanes POV We were at Alice’s after a long day of shopping and training. I couldn’t keep my eyes off of her. She’s so beautiful and her violet eyes just melt me when I look into them. I was just going to drop her off but instead I asked her to come play video games with me and she started to stare out as a light blush covered her cheeks. Was she thinking about when I finally couldn’t hold back from her? Does she feel the same way? I’ll just act nonchalantly like I didn’t notice. “Alice?” I say questioningly She shook her head and replied “yeah, let me pack up and I’ll leave a note for my mom. I miss my bed!” I laughed at her and walked out to wait in the my car and put the hood up beings it was getting chilly and I didn’t want her to be cold. I can’t wait to break out the Jeep and take the doors and top off. Just a few more months. Alice jumped in pulling me from my thoughts and I waited to hear the seat belt click and her to pat my shoulder letting me know she was ready and we pulled out and were on our way back home. Alice POV We pull up to the pack house as my mom is walking out. “Mom, I left a note but beings you are right here, Zane wanted to play some video games so I decided to give you the cabin with dad tonight because I miss my bed also.” I say sweetly She smiled as she replied “okay sweetheart, I trust you two won’t stay up all night knowing training is super early and you both need to be in good shape for your birthdays!” “ I promise and I am in great shape might I add. We train twice a day Rj, Zane, and I.” I reply matter of factory followed by a slight giggle as I hold up a muscle. She giggles and posts me on the shoulder. “ I love you Alice, I’ll see you tomorrow at training!” She talks slightly louder as she walks away. “I love you!” I yell “I love you too!” She replied I smiled while grabbing my stuff out of the car heading to the door. I went up to the beta floor and down the hall to my room to drop all of my stuff off and get changed. As I put my clothes away I pulled out a hoodie, clean underwear, a bra, a tank top, and a pair of velvet shorts. I took a quick shower, brushed my hair and grabbed a soft blanket. I texted Zane saying I was heading to the rec downstairs to set up the bean bag chairs and get ready to play some video games. He replied saying he just got out of the shower and would be down in 10 minutes. Why was I nervous? I made sure we were on separate bean bags and we’ve been friends since we were practically born. My mom and dad are his betas for crying out loud and my mom was his mom/ lunas best friend. Where are these feelings coming from? I can’t fall for him! I’m his future beta and he is my future alpha! I shook my head clearing my thoughts and walked down to the rec room. I texted Zane again to ask to bring down drinks beings I forgot. I slipped my phone in my pocket after pressing send and relocking my phone and started moving the couch out of the way and pulling out love sacs over and infront of the tv. I finished setting up the tv and the ps 5 and set up both controllers logging us into our accounts. I put his controller on his spot and plopped into my spot and put my blanket on. I got bored waiting for Zane so I texted Rj to see what he was up to. He wasn’t replying either so I just scrolled through f******k absent mindedly to pass the time. After what seemed like hours Zane finally busts threw the door. He was out of breath with no drinks and he had a bloody nose. I instantly jumped up and ran to him. “Are you okay? What happened?” I asked him frantically while examining his body to see if he was further injured than just his nose. He caught his breath and replied slightly embarrassed “yeah I fell down the steps trying to avoid Lesley and just kept barreling down and couldn’t stop myself and then ran straight here to see if I could lose her.” I rolled my eyes. Lesley and her stupid mean girl click have always wanted Zane not even just for his looks but for his title. They all wanted to be Luna to be head b***h. I wish I could be Luna and be with Zane. I don’t even care to be Luna as long as Zane would always be by my side but I always pushed the feelings away because I’m his beta and his true mate will be his Luna and I will be her beta as well. “We’ll clean yourself up, we can get drinks later but for now we have a game calling our names” I say patting his shoulder and walking away. He nodded and walked over to the bathroom and cleaned his face. He took about five minutes. I’m guessing to finish letting his nose bleed. Rj walked in nodded to me and walked to the bathroom, I’m assuming to give Zane a new shirt. I was correct, a new shirt and a smile. I giggled and shook my head as I clicked on the game we were going to play first. I wanted to play zombies for a little bit before playing in a live match. Sort of as a warm up I guess. “What if Lesley ends up being your true mate?” I ask with slight amusement “Then I guess I will love her whole heartedly as the moon goddess wishes I would” he answers factly. His words slightly stinging my heart. Why was I feeling this way? Why did it hurt my heart? “What if she did it just for you to reject her and get your second chance mate and a way of teaching her a lesson? Because she doesn’t seem worthy of you. I would bet that she doesn’t even have a mate.” I reply He pauses to kill a zombie, then replies “I honestly think she’ll be mated to a warrior or omega. Someone on her level or lower. Not that it matters the title, but hopefully someone not as powerful as I, you, Jake, Rj, or Peter” He lists off his back ups too because they held rank above the warriors and lived on the second floor of the pack house. The pack house has over 100 rooms over the span of 6 floors. The first floor includes the rec room, the library, a work out room, basketball court, kitchen, dining room, and rooms for the omegas who work in the pack house. The second floor is the back up beta and gamma floor with enough rooms for their families and offices. The third floor has two conference rooms and our guest rooms for visiting alphas and their betas or gammas. The fourth floor is the gamma floor with enough rooms for the whole family a commons lounge area a small kitchen and two offices. The Beta and alpha floors are the same way. The alpha floor has bigger rooms which is insane being all the rooms are huge. My moms and dads room will be my room soon as they are retiring and living in the cabin full time as soon as alpha Mark steps down for Zane to step up and take lead. It’ll be remodeled and re furnished the week before we have the alpha ceremony which will take place a week after he finds his mate or when he turns 20. Alpha Mark wanted to change that rule because Zane was ready regardless of him lacking a mate. Of course he’d be 10x stronger with a mate but he has us and we’ve all been training since pups for this! “Are you ready to turn 18 and find your true mate Alice?” He questions I lean back after dying on round 35 due to spacing out and reply in a chill tone. “If the moon goddess blesses me with a mate I won’t fight it but, I’m not going to actively search. I’m more excited to meet my wolf and go on my first run and first training session with her.” His eyes widen “I almost forgot we got our wolves on our birthday. I’ve been so busy that it slipped my mind! I can’t wait either, I know he’s gonna be bad a**!” We play in a comfortable silence for another hour and it was ruined when Lesley and her little b***h squad walks in squealing. I rolled my eyes so hard. We continue to play trying to ignore them. Too bad we can’t mind link until we get our wolves. This sucks. Just then I see Zane texting out of the corner of my eye. My phone lights up, I look down to see that he wants to go up to his room to finish playing, I mean he hasn’t seen me in a week so I’m guessing he really missed me. “Hi Zaney, I missed you” Lesley says tracing her finger on his arm. “I told you the only person who could ever call me that is Alice. She’s the only one who as called me that since we were little. What is your angle Lesley?” He barked making her back away slightly. “Oh I don’t mean it to be malicious za.. Zane.” She catches herself “I just miss you, I can’t stop thinking about two nights ago.” I don’t even let him say anything. I got up and walked out with my things as Lesley grips his arm. I hurriedly get into the elevator I go to rjs floor and walk the halls to his room and knock on the door. He opens the door and I run under his arm and jump onto his bed. He shuts and locks the door and sits in the recliner across the room. “Did Zane and Lesley hook up while I was at the cabin?” I blurted out. He looked at me stunned. “From what I heard, she kissed him but, he pushed her away.” I let out a deep breath I didn’t know I was holding and fall over sideways laying onto his pillow. Rj smells like a fresh Christmas tree. It smelled so good. Zane smelled like warm apple pie and my mouth watered constantly around him. “She came into the rec while me and Zane were playing zombies and said something about to nights ago.” I say half falling asleep. Rj moved me to his couch and he laid in his bed. I would always hide here for the night when I was avoiding someone. This time for the first time ever I was avoiding Zane. Rjs phone rings slightly waking me up. He’s whispering but I think it’s Zane looking for me. Why did it take him so long to call Rj. Did he have his way with Lesley? The thought made me gag so I forced myself back to sleep.
