She had been lied to all her life, about what she was, where she came from, what her role in their backward society is.

Mikayla at first glance was just another face in the crowd, she was nothing more than another mob, the extra in someone else's story, destined to be the faceless mother of another generation of hunters.

But the arrival of Jason and Justin, twin Alphas over one pack turned her entire world upside down and forced the truth to reveal itself, now marked as a mate by the overprotective Jason, as well as his blunt and hot headed twin brother Justin, she is thrown into a whole other world where the rules she grew up obeying mean nothing anymore, and the normal life she thought she would have is nothing but a distant thought, how can one girl hold the key to the strength and survival of an entire species?

The further she dives into this new world of love and blood the more questions she opens up, she needs to find out where she came from and what she truly is, their entire existence rests on her shoulders. Our lies can never stay hidden, the truth always comes out.

We can't choose who we love, we have no choice but to be obedient and submit to tradition, to bare our husband's children, to raise the next generation of hunters. This is what I was taught growing up, and as the eldest daughter of the Hunt family I had more pressure put on me more than anyone else, but I didn't care about it because I believed them, I believed that they were right, and I believed that vampires and werewolves, kitsunes and ghouls, and all the creatures supernatural were evil, that we needed to raise an army and wipe them out before they became another problem like back in the past, I was ready to submit to my chosen husband and bare him children, but things happened a little differently, because I was being lied to, by my friends, by my family, by everyone lied, and if it wasn't for them, I would have never known, I'd have been trapped in a miserable life and died a lonely woman. It started like any other day, my sister Anna, and my brother Austin were going on another hunt with our parents, they did it every weekend but I was never allowed to leave, father had chosen me as the next to marry one of my cousins and start the next line of successors to the crest our family held proudly, I was nineteen and ready to be sold off to someone I had met only once when I was a child, but I didn't know any better, I thought it was normal. We were supposed to be triplets, but I was always left out of everything important, and I always felt out of place because of how different I looked from the rest of the family, so mother gave me blue contacts that my eyes would look like theirs, and dyed my hair a fresh blonde every three weeks to hide the black, but even then my skin always looked healthier, not a corpse pale like theirs, no matter how she wanted us to look alike, that was something she dared not try to change. Sometimes it felt like they were hiding me, but since I was allowed freedom I never gave it a second thought, not until that day, Hollow valley was a large and nearly self sufficient town no less than the size of a city, but it was surrounded by mountains, and it rained most of the year, even then the population was near five hundred thousand people so there was never any shortage of kids and visitors could even get lost in such a population. After finishing high school I started to attend the only college that existed there, a large campus that even students from out of town attended, but it was only me. My sister and brother started going on hunts as soon as they were sixteen, both dropping out of high-school, to follow family law. I never made any friends because that is what I was told to do, it was the one rule I was given "your family should be your only friends" is what I was always told, I was also never bullied because I would kick any ass that dared try, boy, girl, or teacher, it felt completely normal to see a stranger's car drive through the front gates, and sitting by the window I thought nothing of the two guys that came out of it, I could tell they were new though simply because as soon as they stepped out of the parking lot they were met by the head principal, a custom I had seen and experienced myself. It was weird though how he seemed respectful to the two, weirder since he was on my family's list of people that were going to be hunted and killed in the coming weeks, Anna told me that he was a ghoul, and often went out of town to neighbouri towns to hunt and feed since doing it in Hollow Valley would have gotten him caught already. I found myself staring at him, his face and how nervous he looked even from this distance, soon enough though they were led by him inside and out of my sight, leaving me staring at the distant mountains, this class was the peak of boredom that even I who was a need for history could tolerate, half the students were already asleep, and the rest were fighting the grave our monotone professor was digging with every word his old lips farted out, it was a nightmare, and I tried tuning it out, only for the door to be swung upon, jolting everyone to awareness when the handle hit the wall and echoed through the quiet classroom. "Dr. Hamilton." My lecturer called to the principal as he stepped in adjusting his glasses, and in behind him walked the guys I had seen arrive just a few minutes before, identical down to the way they walked, both taller than the principal and more confident than the ghoul ever showed himself, I could barely make out any distinguishing features from being in the back of the class but I was sure they were good looking, had it not been for mother's words in the back of my mind all the time I would have already been in a relationship. "Stay away from people, you already have a fiancé." She always said, ever since I was asked on a date for middle school prom. Even if I liked them, and it was attraction on first sight, I had to stay away, it was customary, I wasn't even supposed to touch the opposite gender. "... are you deaf?" I heard the professor calling out, and for a second my eyes blurred from shock when I stopped looking at the twins and realized that every single gle person was looking at me. "Huh?" I asked back, and the old man scrunched up his face and pointed at the newcomers. "Jason and Justin Jackson, take them around the campus for the rest of this session and then drop them by the office, I know you are already well versed in the study of history Hunt but that is no reason to space out in my class like that, show some interest at least." He informed and then complained. "I'm fine staying here... sir." I called back but he was having none of it, and completely ignored me leaving me huffing as I picked up my bag leaving all my revision right there and started making my way down the Isle to the platform to recieve my new charges. "Make haste Hunt I have a lot to do today." The principal called at me and without realizing I let out a muted growl and clicked my tongue. "Taking orders from a ghoul, what the hell." I hummed to myself just before reaching there, but found both of the new students staring at me almost shocked. "Don't talk to me and don't ask any questions, just follow." I nearly snapped at them and then walked right out, smirking to myself when I heard their feet catching back up in the halls again. "I'm Justin Jackson-" The twin on my right started but I stopped and looked around at him causing him and his brother to stop and stare at me awkwardly as I scanned them from head to toe, sure enough I found that him, Justin, was slightly taller than his brother, and there was a slight darker brown in his eyes, not that I could even see either of their eyes clearly because of their hair in the way. "I've already memorized your names and faces, I said don't talk to me." I spun and started walking again. "Just follow and listen so I don't have to repeat myself again." "Bro she's f*****g rude." The one on my left, Jason, chuckled and stuffed his hands in his pockets, causing my eyes to twich, I simy did not want to have them as a responsibility, it was easy to make friends, and I was trying to avoid that to save myself the trouble later. It felt like the entire tour went smoothly after I was again walking toward my seat and they had been obedient for the most part, the next lecture turned out to be in the same class, but as I was about to enter the Isle Jason walked in passing me and sitting right in front of my papers then neatly packing them up. "Do you mind asshole?" I was about to snap again but stopped self and took a breath. "Give those to me." I stretched my hands toward him, and like the price he had proven himself to be the bustard stretched them toward me, waiting until my fingers brushed against them before he let them go causing them to spread and fall across the bench and beneath the table. "Oops... guess I am an asshole after all." He chuckled and I felt my face start burning as the small act of taunting triggered me. Once again I took a breath and turned away, this wasn't worth my time, I just need to attend classes normally and then do my finals early and be done with this place before I left Hollow Valley to get married. "No call-back this time?" Jason tried taunting but I found it only childish and simply walked to the seat behind them and sat. "Cmon I was only messing around." He waved his hands after his brother punched him over the shoulder and went to pick the papers off the ground, at least Jason was a better listener, he kept himself composed and his brother in check for most of the tour. "It's just coincidence that we have so many classes in common, I'll make sure to keep him away from you, he's an idiot." Justin smiled at me and gave me the papers neatly folded, and I huffed and snatched them away from him, he and his brother were polar opposites, figured all the nice had gone into one and the other was made primarily with asshole as his main ingredient. It had never misbehaved until then, but as Justin turned around and started watching the class fill with students the pendant around my neck hidden in my blous started vibrating violently, and it set me soo alarmed that my hands started shaking. Someone had just walked in, someone that triggered it, there was something dangerous near me, and they were actively using their supernatural abilities. "You okay?" Justin looked around at me again, and as he did I released a breath after several gasps and looked around as the students started settling in their seats, ther was nobody new there, I knew ald recognised all these faces... which could Hve only meant that it was one of them... either Justin or Jason. One of the two was hiding a secret, one of them had to die to protect humans. "Hey Mikayla." Justin called at me again and I released yet another breath after a series of gasps. "I-i'm good." I lied and sat straight, reaching into my bag for my phone and searching for my contacts... Were they ghouls? Is that why Dr Hamilton was so nice to them? I wondered as I scrolled through the list stopping on Anna's messages and opening them up. -I need tou right now- I typed and almost immediately she replied. -I'm with dad and Austin, did something happen?- She texted back. -Two strangers came today, my pendant is going crazy, i think one of them might be a ghoul, even Hamilton was acting weird around them- I replied and I only saw the message go on ready, Anna was my sister and best friend, she was definitelyon her way, even if I can't do it myself, I'll make sure all monsters are purged. As I looked up again, I found two pairs of eyes glued on to me, both Justin and Jason, staring just as they did when we met earlier, at that time their stares only seemed weird and new, but now that I suspected them that same stare felt like I was their target, Luke I was a piece of meat in their eyes, especially Jason, who had already gone out of his way to cause me trouble. "What?" I asked, and both looked at each other and then turned around again, not saying another word to me for the rest of the class... they were planning something.
