1 | Reunion
THIRD PERSON POV Reunion. That was the dreadful word that has been playing on the loop inside Nadia's head for the past week. It's only been 10 years since she's graduated from high school and now they wanted to have a reunion already? Nadia was not happy when her old friends reaching out to her out of the blue. These past 10 years had never been nice to her. From the first year after her graduation, she's been in trouble with her future planning and how to make a living from the choices she forced to have. Because of her parent's strict upbringing, she has no words in picking her own interest and how to live her life. She was forced to follow her older siblings footstep towards success. But because of her grades, her parents literally neglected her feelings and never asked her opinion on how to live her own life. In the end, she decided to disobey her parents and that lead to her being kicked out of the house she was born and raised in. Without any proper income nor money to spare, she lives on the streets for a couple of months before she got a job at a local restaurant as a dishwasher. Slowly, she's building her life again. After years of working at low wages job, she manages to get a roof on top of her head and eat a decent meal for a change but her life is far from perfect. The 27-year-old sighed when she arrived at the designated place for the reunion. "Why am I going again?" She asked herself. She looked at her own reflection on the windows before walking inside the venue. "All of these people with their fancy car, fancy life, fancy clothes." She said mentally. "Name?" The man behind the table said. "Nadia Roman." The man looked up and was shocked. "THE Nadia Roman?!" She smiled. "The one and only." The man wrote her name on a tag and present it to her. "We never thought you would come. I mean, we heard what happened to you." That comment made Nadia's will to go further shattered to million of pieces. "Just go through that door." He was friendly but deep inside, he's laughing at the way Nadia came today. He waited until she walked through the door. "Oh my God did you see how she dressed? I mean jeans and a t-shirt with the jacket? Didn't she read the fine print? This is a formal gathering!" They all laughed at her. "Who can blame her, she's not living in the Roman household anymore. Didn't you hear? She was chased out because she disobeyed." Said the man earlier. "I should know, my fiancée is her little sister. Her family didn't even invite her to our engagement party. She probably doesn't know as well." They laughed again. This continues for some time. They making fun of the person who's least successful than they are like it's an entertainment for them. Inside the ballroom, Nadia tried as hard as she could to be invisible from her other classmates. The truth is, she just wanted to have a decent meal for a change and this reunion will provide her with such. Stealthily, she went to the buffet table and just eat anything she could reach without anyone noticing. To her surprise, a woman stood beside her, watching her acting like a thief. "You know, this food is not running away from you. Why would you act like this?" She swallowed hard on the food in her throat as she listened to this woman unique accent. "I never recalled having any foreign student in our class before. That accent, it's Ukrainian and Russian am I right? Who are you?" To her surprise, the woman was gone. She searched for her but she's nowhere to be found. She shrugged and continue shoving food inside her mouth. Just after a couple of bites, a group of people walked up to her and looking at her with disgusted looks. "I never thought of saying someone from the dignified Roman family to be this ... ungrateful." Nadia froze when she heard that voice. She places the plate on the table and slowly turned around to face the woman she hates the most. The queen bee of her class. "I see you never change. Your lackeys are here as well. How nice to be the boss isn't it?" Nadia knows she shouldn't pick a fight with her but she can't help it. "Did you all hear anything? Something just barks at me. I wonder who." The woman faces Nadia. "I was hoping you would skip today's reunion. But I was wrong. Someone like you doesn't know the word of embarrassing." The woman looked at Nadia from top to bottom. "You should be kicked out because of your poor taste of attire as well." It's Nadia's turn to looked at the queen bee from top to bottom. "And your fashion sense never change. Always the w***e of the school. Tell me, how many goats die because of you?" The woman's face reddens from Nadia's comment. "Don't test me dyke. Isn't that the reason why your name completely vanishes from Roman's family? How shame." Nadia felt a tugged in her heart. She really hates it when someone called her a dyke. It's what she is, a lesbian. There's nothing wrong to be the way she is. But society thought otherwise. "I was sure your parents sent you to that therapy session in the looney hospital paid off but I don't think so." "Hey, let's not waste our time talking to nobody. Any more time spending with her, her disgusting scent will rub on us. I don't want that." Said one of the lackeys. Nadia watched as the group of people finally leaving her side. "I knew it. Coming here was a big mistake after all." She said mentally while getting herself ready to go home. She was about to walk out of the venue when an old friend called for her. "Nadia!" When she turned it was the person who informed her about the reunion. "Where are you going? Leaving so soon?" She asked. "I have work." She lied. "Work? Come on, you can skip a night from work. Let's have fun." She invited. Nadia was about to decline but her friend insisted. They met up with another group of successful-looking people with their expensive watches and dress. "Oh my God. Nadia. So nice to see you again." Nadia can sense it was a forced greeting. Her eyes are not even close to greet her. Nadia just stood there, drinking the champagne while her friends talk about their life in front of her. When it was her turn to say something, she doesn't know what to say. "I'm ... not working at some fancy company like you all do.. I'm working at a small restaurant. As a dishwasher." They all feel sorry for her. "I'm sorry Nadia. We didn't know. We all thought you would work at your family's ...." She was nudged by a friend next to her to stop talking. Nadia just smiles. "No. I'm not. Hell, I don't even have a family. They all disown me. I'm not even invited to my older sister wedding shower and my little sister's engagement party. And when my older sister was expecting, I'm not even invited to the baby shower." Social media suck, she thought. "It must be rough on you." Said her old friend. "Enough about me, what about you all. I see all of you are married. Any kids?" Nadia mustered up every ounce of energy left to smile at them. "I had twins." Said the one beside her. "I have a son. He's 2 years old." Said another one. "I have triplets." Said her old friend. "It must be hard to be a lawyer and to take care of the kids at the same time? I'm just a work at home mom. It's the perks of being a world-famous author." Nadia sighed mentally. She wished to get home now before she feels more sorry about her own life. While her friends were busy talking to themselves, she snuck out from the ballroom and went home. She threw the tag from her chests and enjoyed the nightlife of the city while walking on the pavement. She was just walking past a dark alley when she heard a woman screamed not far from where she is. She looked for the source and hid behind the many trash can when her eyes landed on a couple of guys cornering a woman at the end of the dark alley. The damp streetlight made it hard to see what's going on. "I need to help her." She said in her mind while searching for a weapon. She grabbed a wooden log and ran towards the guys and hit their head hard. One of the guys manage to grabbed the wood and took it from Nadia. "Shit." She cursed. "Well boys, it's our lucky nights we have two damsels in distress." Nadia covered the woman's body with hers. "Hello again." She whispered. Nadia recognized the unique accent. It's the woman from earlier. "Seems like we're both in deep trouble," Nadia said when one of the guys took out a knife from his waist. "I shouldn't play with my food. This is what I get for being that way." The woman sighed. Nadia was confused. "Enough chit chatting! Now, show us what you got!" The guy slashed Nadia's clothes using the knife and her breast cane to view. "Oh wow. Now that was unexpected." The guy said while drooling at the sight. Nadia took this chance to kick his crotch and watched him kneeling down while groaning in pain. "You b***h!" The kneeling man was furious and stabbed Nadia for a couple of times and all at her vital organs. Nadia was in so much pain but she never let go of the woman she protecting. "You sacrifice yourself for my sake? That's plain stupid you know that." The woman whispered. Nadia smiled before she vomits the blood from her mouth. "At least ... you ..." Nadia didn't get to finished her words when she collapses and died on the scene. The woman with the unique accent looked down on Nadia's corpse and turned her attention to the guys. "Hey, we can use her still. She's still warm." One of the guys suggested. "You touch her you die, vermin." The woman warned them. They all laughed at her. "And what would you voluptuous goodie two shoes can do to us? Smothering us with your breast? By all means please do. We would love to taste them." The woman eyes started to glow bright red in color and grabbed the nearest man. "As you can see, I'm not human. Never was. Humans like you are my meal and that's all it is." The woman watched as the others tried to run away from her. She raised her free hand and clenched it. Their legs were dismembered instantly and leaving them bleed to death. Their screaming could be heard a mile away but somehow, the people walking on the busy street didn't even take a glance at them. "You stabbed the person who tried to save me. Stupid, but her attempt will not be in vain." The woman smiled as she squeezed her hand as hard as she could until the man's neck was dismembered from his torso. "You drenched my good dress with blood. How dare you." She let go of the head and walked towards the other two. "Die!" She spits venomously and uses her heels to stabbed their heads. They died instantly. "Now you all made my heels soaked in blood." The woman heard a loud flap of wings behind her. "Honestly, it took you only a few minutes to do this kind of bloodshed? You should control yourself, my lady." Said the woman with the leathery wings. "You should know me by now Agramon. I don't like to wait long." The woman with the leathery wings kneels down next to Nadia's corpse. "Can I feast on her? She's barely alive." The woman was shocked. Is she not dead? She thought in her mind. "You touch her, you die, Agramon." The woman with the unique accent kneels and carried Nadia's body in bridal style. "Let's go home." Agramon touched stooped her. "What are you doing bringing a human to our domain?!" The woman glared at the woman with wings. She can feel the outstanding power from the woman she called as her Lady. "As you wish Asura, the Behemoth." Agramon bow at her superior and friend. "She will come with us whether you like it or not. Understand?" Asura let her wings out and open up a portal above them. They both fly upwards and went home. Asura ... Just who is this mysterious woman with a unique accent you say? Asura came from a high ranking demon family. She took his father title as the new Behemoth after he stepped down from his throne and she rules all of Hell. Together with her loyal General, Abigor, Agramon, and Asmodeus they're the devil's that keep the order in Hell and the gates that connect to the human world. Besides having the never-ending war with Heaven on their spare time, they mostly do whatever it takes to take down any stray angel or fallen angel who cause chaos in their territory. Agramon was glad that this time they actually appeared at one of their many 'home' in the human world. Asura places Nadia's body on the couch and watched as her blood stained the white couch. "A human shield my body with her own without fear. She's worthy of the blood of a demon in her veins. Besides, her life is full of misery, to begin with, she has nothing to live for." Asura smirked. "What I'm doing now just something she will use for revenge." Asura begins to strip Nadia off her clothes. "You're going to transform a human into a demon? Right here?" Agramon, one of Asura's general asked. "Yes. I am. If not, she'll die." Asura touched Nadia's cold flesh and searched for the perfect spot to stab. When she found the right place, she slowly used her long nails to pierced into Nadia's inside and grabbed a hold on her heart. "What a dark place her heart is." Asura pulled out Nadia's heart from its cavity and was mesmerized by how deliciously dark her blood does flow down her hands. Asura took the liberty to lick the human heart and was satisfied. "I have a new servant to take care off." Asura watched as the wound healed up on its own perfectly. "Delicious." Asura gave Nadia's heart to Agramon. "Put them in the crystal. She can only have her heart back when she's worthy to have them again. Honestly, why does God always makes it like it's a game when he gave these human a heart, to begin with?." Agramon can't agree more. "Where's my son?" Asura asked. "Sir Draven is asleep. He must be tired chasing down the Cerberus earlier today. They got away and terrorizing the humans again." Asura laughed. "We really should move away from this presidential suite. It doesn't seem to be an ideal home to have pets on." Agramon nodded. "Should we go home to the castle then?" Agramon asked her superior. "How about Nadia's home?" Asura suggested while showing Agramon the image of Nadia's place. "Oh no, Lady Asura. That house doesn't fit for a queen." Asura sighed. "We have the money the humans willing to kill for. The renovation is the solution here Agramon." Asura can't help but stare at the former human who willing to be killed for her sake, a stranger sake. "She has a dark heart but she manages to be more of a human who's preaching about the word of God that we met last week." Asura cringed. "Now that man is evil. How dare he talks about God as if he knows him better than I do. What a joke." Asura pushed back Nadia's hair. "Asura, as a friend and not as your general. Frankly speaking, are you fallen for this former human? You seem to act like the time you found your ex-husband." Asura looked up to Agramon. "A woman like her willing to be killed just for my sake, of course, I fell for her. Why do you think I even took the liberty to give her immortality?" Agramon sighed. "I'm sorry for being clueless then." Asura lifted Nadia up bridal style and carried her to her room. Agramon watched as her friend did the same thing all over again. "What should I do about you Asura." She sighed before she went to her own room. Asura closed the door using her feet and placed Nadia on her bed gently. "Did I do the right thing?" She asked herself while laying on her side, watching Nadia asleep. "How come I fell for her so fast? All she did was saving me when I don't even need to be safe." She pokes on Nadia's cheek. "Maybe I should make her wear some clothes on." She said to her self and snapped her fingers. "There, all better." She smiled before laying her head on Nadia's chest. "It's been years since I feel this relax on my slumber. Even though technically I don't need to. This feels nice for a change." Asura's hands were rubbing on Nadia's stomach. "Who are you, Nadia?" Asura moved her head from Nadia's chest. She stabbed onto Nadia's brain and began to transfer her memories into her own mind. The moment when Nadia still inside her mother's womb and when she finally was born, Asura witnessed it all. The time when Nadia was banished from her own home for being the way she is, the time when her parents disowned her for not be able to have good jobs like her siblings, Asura saw it all. When Asura finally did ransacking Nadia's memories, she pulled out her hand from Nadia's brain and waited for the wound to heal. "Hmmm.. you'll be perfect for me, Nadia. I shall help you with what you had done for my sake. Stupid but thank you." Asura chuckled and rest her head on Nadia's chest again. "Now the only thing I have to worry about is your awakening."
