Summer Break Begins
The school quickly emptied as the beginning of summer break started. Students rushed to the buses and cars as they prepared to go home or leave town for the summer. I smiled at the thought of leaving town for the summer with my friends. We have been planning this for months now, collecting money from odd jobs and putting the money together so we can get away. Erick had spent two weeks out of town, north, up in the mountains, looking for a place for him and our friends to live. It is hard to find a place for seven people. He found a plot of land and paid some people to build a good sized home there.     "Hey Evie." Erick hugged me, followed by one from Adrian. "Everyone else is in the van. We don't have to stop anywhere, do we?"     "No. We agreed to get new clothes and other needs once we get closer in. I got me a bag of clothes to last me a week." I replied to him. He smiled and opened the van door. I stepped in while Adrian got in the passenger seat.     "Everyone ready to start the greatest adventure of our lives yet?" Adrian asked excitedly. We all nodded excitdely. Erick started the van and left the school. "Mom told me to text her when we are almost there. I told her I will and try to keep in contact with her as best as I can. She's knows we are going off technology for a year to start a new."     "At least we will be able to send out letters throughout the year. The only problem will be summer because of the snow." Erick said.     "On a brighter note, we all love snow. The mountains wil be so pretty all year round. no parents to hold us back, We'll live happily and no one will tell us what to do." Jenna said happily. "You guys remember the day we met?"     "Always. I have a picture from that day." Joseph grinned widely and held it out. "I have a photo album of all of us. I took pictures of fun moments, special moments, and awesome pranks we pulled."     "Remember when we met Evie? She thought we were out to get her." Jonah smiled at me as I blushed. "You were so short in middle school, you still are, It helps you sneak around though. Your hair was at your knees and was as black as night. Your eyes were a bright blue too. We thought that was how you truly looked until you cut your hair before our freshmen year while out of town. You came back with bright red hair and and the tips were black. Your eyes a stormy grey. You still can't get your skin darker. You will always be pale."     "She may be short, but when you threaten the people she cares about, you better run. Remember when she beat off the bullies for messing with Adrian because he's gay? She got a week's detention and a two day school suspension. Principal River went soft on her when she explained why she did what she did. He has favored her ever since." Neil laughed at that memory. "Anyways, back to the day we met."     "I remember it was July 4th. The whole town gathered at the lake to watch the fireworks. I had snuck away from my family to sit under the bridge to watch the swans. That's where I first met Adrian. He was feeding the swans and turtles. We all had the same idea to go under the bridge. Of course, Neil, Joseph, and Jonah were hiding from a group of bullies, Jenna, you were hiding to avoid getting hit on. Erick, well, he was avoiding his girlfriend because all she wanted to do was makeout."     "She scared me and to this day she still does." Erick defended. "You guys met her, she was creepy! Now I have a better and wonderful boyfriend." Adrian grinned brightly at Erick and kissed his cheek. I laughed as Erick gave a goofy grin before focusing back on the road.     "You guys know what we should totally do in like two or three towns over?" Neil asked. We all looked at him questiongly. "We all should getting matching tattoos. I'll draw the tattoo and show the person what we want. My uncle and cousin went to this really cool tattoo shop the next town over. Not many people know about it so we can go there and there will be no problems. I hear that one of the ladies that work there is a seer."     "A seer? That's crazy. I don't believe you, but i do like the sound of matching tattoos." Jenna said. "We can stop and eat first and then get the tattos. It will be so fun. Do the sketch and surprise us. We can see the tattoo when we are done. You can choose the colors and everything. Make sure it is meaningful and cool. Put our saying on it."     "I think we should get it on our arm." I said. They nodded in agreement. "I have never told you about the tattoos I have, have I?" I asked them.     "No, now will be a great time since we have an hour of a drive. Tell us where they are, what they are, and what they mean." Jenna demand. I rolled my eyes and took my jacket off, revealing my tank top. My right arm held one large tattoo of a dagger with a King Cobra wrapped around it, holding a lily within it's mouth.     "This one I got when I was sixteen. My uncle did it for my birthday without my parents knowing. He told me the dagger represents the knife I had once used to scar my body. The King Cobra represents the venmon I hold my enemies and the feirceness I hold for the ones I love. The lily represents my grandmother. She save my life when I was fourteen. She walked in as I was going to hang myself.     "It's beautiful." Neil whispered. He ran a hand down the tattoo in awe. I smiled and lifted my tank to show the middle of my stomach. There, a baby foot laid with a date.      "When I was ten, I lost my little brother. I convinced my uncle to give me this tattoo the day after he died. My parents never knew. This is my first tattoo. My uncle decided that after this tattoo, he would do the rest of mine in secret. Three months after I got this one, I got another tattoo. I pulled my shorts up a little, showing a purple and silver dragon. "My uncle said I should get a dragon tattoo, so I got this one in his honor." I showed them eight more tattoos before i paused.     "You have alot of tattoos. They are awesome and have great meanings. I know you have one more though. Where is it at? Most of your tattoos were on your legs."     "My last tattoo is on my back. I need help lifting my shirt." I said. Jenna reached over and began lifting the back of my shirt. She gasped and then moved out of the way. On my back laid phoenix wings. They were balck mixed in with gold specks. I got this on my eighteenth birthday. A few days before my uncle passed. "I got the phoenix wings because I find the mystical creature unique." I lowered my shirt back down. They smiled. "I never get a tattoo unless it has a meaning."         "That is wonderful. They are all awesome." Jenna exclaimed. I smiled as the others nodded in agreement. I looked at Neil when he clapped. I knew he got an idea for the tattoo. He beagn to draw and I couldn't wait until I see what he chose.
