The right choice
He spotted a group of goblins during his watch. Ranger quickly hid in the bush to have a tactical advantage if they get closer to him. That didn´t happen and the unit of ugly creatures kept their way. They are heading down to the village flashed in his head. I must stop them before they get there. He knew he had no chance of catching them.  Goblins were one of the few creatures, no people could catch up with. Their dexterity and speed were specially trained as they lived high in the mountains and their bread and butter depend not so much on bread with butter, but on pillaging nearby human villages. The nearest village, Dolage, was under attack. Screams could be heard far from there, when suddenly... Nothing, no sound came out. The ranger prepared himself to face the group of goblins, but nobody was in his sight. He started running towards the village again. Dead bodies were everywhere, but not only human´s. Goblins were dead too. He searched some of them as he saw some symbols on their skin.  It was probably a spell that should protect the village, he thought. Ranger kept searching the village for survivors, unfortunately, he had no such luck. Prepared to leave, he heard a cry. Turning his head in all directions, he was trying to find the source of this noise.  Taking a deep look at a barrow placed right on the edge of the village, he started walking towards it. The sound was getting louder and louder with his every step. Reaching to the heap of hay in the cart, the scream got even louder, when his hands touched the object. What he didn´t expect was to pull out little infant. "Who are you little one?" The baby stopped crying and looked up at him with big blue eyes. Knowing he won´t be able to take care of it, dark thoughts came to his mind. "Should I kill you by my hand? Should I let you here for the wolves or something worse?"  Contemplating about his options and trying to decide, he didn´t notice the goblin running towards him. The baby started crying again and the ranger noticed something was wrong. As he turned around he spotted the enraged creature with big pointy ears and grey skin getting right to him. Within a second he pulled out his bow and shot it right in the heart.  "Did you warn me, little one?" he asked with no response expected. There were several possibilities such as the baby poop itself or it was just hungry, but in the eyes of the ranger was it clear.  His eyes softened as it began smiling right into his face. The conclusion was obvious. Baby saved his life and now he owns his life so he decided to spare it from death. The ranger took off his dark green coat to cover the baby in. As he took off its wet swaddling clothes he noticed it is a boy. Now the infant was in a warm coat. The ranger lost his coat so it was possible to see him into a face and his body build could be seen too. He wasn´t tall at all, which was good for him. His height served him well as he needed to not be revealed by enemies. Despite that fact, he was muscular. He had short dark hair with no mark of his age. Looking young he was very attractive and even more with his short, sharp, black stubble. What really caught your attention were two brown eyes so deep every woman would happily drown in them.  He was on the road to his hut deep in the forest, when he spoke with the boy. "I am sorry for what happened to your family in the village" the baby was silent now.  "But. I am going to take care of you now, don´t worry. Right now, I am worrying more about how to call you, unless you will tell me your name."  The baby just kept silent and with googly eyes watched the man´s face.  "Of course you won´t tell me what your name is. You don´t even know what I am saying right now" smiling on contemplation what he is doing right now. "I am talking to a baby!" he shouted on himself and started thinking about the name.  The little one frowned a little, but then kept watching him like a little dummy.  There was a moment of silence when they were getting closer to the ranger´s home. It was situated deep in the forest, where dark and evil creatures lived. He knew about the risk for baby in this location, that's why he was struggling so much. It was hard for an adult man to live there and survive.  What it will be like for a baby? He asked himself when they stood right in front of the boundary of forest and fields. "You must be careful in this place, you know? You might get eaten easily" with these words he stepped into the forest.  The boy seems to be terrified as he looked on ranger with a frightened look.  The man comforted him, while he was breaking through the shrubbery. He didn´t want to move the little one to tears as they were in such a dangerous place right now. The scream would attract unwanted attention. The unpleasant journey was over when they reached a glade. It was different than most of the people would think in such a dark place. The glade was clear with a considerably different colour of grass. It was caused by the sun, that was enabled to entre the grassy place as there were no mighty trees. There was also a water well supplying the building right next to it. The hut now standing in front of them looked like it was abandoned. The exterior was in a very dilapidated condition.  "Don´t let yourself confuse." said the adult while stepping in the building. The interior of the cabin was mesmerizing even though it was smaller in size. It was very cosy. There was a fireplace that could heat the place, a couple of chairs, a massive oak table and only one bed. Above all of this was a small hideout for emergency case.  With an almost unnoticeable smirk on the baby, ranger cleared his throat and said "This is your new home, welcome." he placed him on the oak table and went to set the fire on. After he made sure about comforting the hut, he approached the baby. "So, little one... You need a name. I was thinking about it the whole journey and I decided to name you Gelerion, after my father and I am Norrick."
