New
Marissa looks out the window of her new room. Boxes are strewn across the floor and clothes are thrown everywhere. Not really paying attention, Marissa starts braiding her long blonde hair and opens the window. Green lawn was all she could see. No town in sight. She couldn't see any neighbors, nobody saw her Who would want to be able to see her home anyway? Yes, it was huge. But also dark and cold.It was the middle of summer but Marissa had to pull on a sweatshirt to be comfortable.
"Mar, please come down!" Marissa's mother's voice rang out, echoing in the old empty house. Marissa sighed but reluctantly stood up.
"Coming! What else can I do?" Mar muttered and shook her head. Seven years of moving, seven years of being the new girl. She was now fourteen and was very subconscious of others beliefs. She knew she shouldn't care, but what else could one do in her situation?
"Marissa, please put on something nicer." Mar's mom sighed as she looked Marissa up and down.
"Mom! This is okay." Mar groaned and shifted uncomfortably under "the look." Mar rushed past her mother and went straight to the fridge.
