Rebecca Everly Sampson is a wild, vibrant, beautiful, smart red head with the personality to match but hides a dark streak. She does not put up with anyone's s**t. She is the captain of her volleyball team, which was a passion she shared with her daddy. She is well liked but prefers to be alone. Though she makes herself spend time with others trying to cope with her inner demons after a tragedy occurred in her young life.

Benjamin Rylie Wilder is the new boy in town. A tall, well built and intelligent guy. Handsome as all get out. His sandy brown hair is always disheveled adding to his boyish charm. His baby blues can pierce your soul. He is known for his intensity and arrogance on and off the football field. And he only has eyes for a certain red head with crazy curls.

....

It was finally spring break and I was standing on the balcony of the beach front hotel when I saw her. She was standing alone on the water's edge looking out at the sunset, her amazing curls blowing in the warm ocean breeze. I knew it was my girl. I try calling out to her but I am too far up. Wait...she heard me. I see her turn and look behind her but she wasn't looking high enough. Then I hear a small group call out her, calling her Megan as she turns her attention to them. Why are they calling her that? I run out of the room and down the stair well. I don't know what is going on but that's my Rebecca. Its been 2 long horrible years....

Rebecca Sampson is well known and liked at her school, especially among the bullied. She was a kind, gentle girl but when angry became a force to be reckoned with. She never hesitates to stand up for the teased and bullied; putting the f*****g bullies in their place. She definitely walked to her own beat, never truly belonging to any particular group. She could easily be a loner but kept herself being around others, especially the volleyball team she led. It helped keep her thoughts from going to a dark place. No one knew she had a dark streak; that she cuts herself to cope with her past trauma.   At the young age of 10, Rebecca and her daddy was in a deadly car accident. They were hit by a drunk driver and entrapped in their car. She watched her daddy bleed out to death, traumatizing her for life. Her hero was gone and she could do absolutely nothing about it. That's when her fight with helplessness set in.  She was a daddy's girl through and through. And Mr. Sampson was a proud girl dad and he made sure the world knew it. His Becs was the apple of his eye. He was the only one who could help Rebecca regain control of her breathing during her asthma attacks. She was never good at keeping her inhaler close much to the dismay of her parents. She never wanted to be tied down to it and always felt she could be stronger than the attacks. They did everything together. If he was tinkering in the garage or doing yard work, reading or watching tv; his little Becs was right there. They were attached at the hip. He shared his love of volleyball with her at a very young age. Being a all star player himself, it was no wonder Rebecca went far in the sport. They also sang together. All. The. Time. Her mother would spend hours listening to her two loves singing, their sweet voices filling their loving home. His hazel eyes danced in her presence. Her hazel eyes doing the same. They were carefree and fun loving. Her mom could barely keep with those two and she loved every second of it. They were the picture perfect family. Happy and loving. Oh yea, and only her daddy was allowed to call her Becs. She went by Rebecca and nothing else. Well, that is until she protected a classmate from being attacked. Him and only him was allowed to call her Becca. But that's a story for another time.  Rebecca did her best to keep her daddy's last words close to her heart. Her mom did everything to support her daughter while she, herself, grieved for the loss of her loving husband. Rebecca did her best to not make things harder on her mother. They did support each other but it was not enough for Rebecca. And she never wanted to be a burden. The only relief she ever felt was when she cut herself; controlling her pain. It would be a secret she kept to herself for years to come.  Her mom remarried 2 years after the accident. Tim Wright made her mom happy, but Rebecca never fully trusted the guy or his son, especially after the wedding. Tim was always kind to Rebecca when her mom dated him. Zach, his son who was a year older then her, lived to annoy her, but she always wanted a sibling so she did her best to develop a sibling relationship with the kid. But after the wedding, it all changed. Tim never took interest in her. Barely would say two word to her while Zach continued being annoying. Again, her mom was happy, so she coexisted as peacefully as she could for 4 years with her step dad and step brother. The stress making her self harm a lot more frequently. Little did she know that a beautiful boy was just around the corner for her to meet and give her whole heart too. Her life would be changed.  Ben Wilder just moved to the area. His father is expanding their family business in the area. So Mr. Wilder moved his family to oversee the construction and startup. Starting a new school never bothered Ben. He always found the wild parties and made every team he tried out for. He was cocky, arrogant and smart as a whip. His tough exterior always on display but was friendly when the time called for it, so meeting others when never a problem. Many girls had crushed on him but no one ever peaked his interest. He wasn't a player like many of his buddies. Even when he partied, he never ended up in bed with girls. He had too much respect for himself and girls; thanks to his mother. He just wanted that one girl who would change his life for the better and he had no trouble waiting for her, whoever she is. Most were intimidated by Ben. He had a intensity that most did not know how to handle. He was a cocky athlete that always came through and arrogant due to his intelligence. Normally winning an argument with any teacher. He was all tough on the exterior but had a soft interior that he would only share with one other person...eventually.  His family moved to the neighborhood just one week before school started. Not giving him much time to learn the area or meet anyone, especially helping his parents setup their home. He did meet a kid named, Matt, he was sorta geeky but nice. Ben was carrying boxes in when Matt came over to introduce himself along with his parents. They welcomed the Wilder's to the neighborhood. Matt was the type who was shy and would rather be reading than hang out with his peers. Very smart as well. Ben took a liking to him. Maybe he could take him under his wing, get him to loosen up just a little. Enjoy being a teenager. Ben had made plans to carpool with him. Ben's grandfather had passed down his sweet Black 1966 Ford Thunderbird to him. His pride and joy. And yes, he had the black leather jacket to match.
