My name is Brie, but that isn’t the name I was given when I was born. Actually I don’t remember what that name was because I was alone when they found me and too young to remember my name or anything about that day. I was told many years ago that I was found in a rundown abandoned shack that looked like it could fall down at any moment and when they ran inside they were chasing after a rogue that had attacked and killed one of their pack members. Instead of finding the rogue, they found me, curled up in a ball in the corner of the room, crying my eyes out. That is what they told me, but I overheard my parents talking about me one night and that’s when I was found I was covered head to toe in dried blood that looked to be about several days old, that I was rushed to the pack doctors and from that day until now the doctor had given my parents wolfsbane pills to keep whatever was inside me weak. I listened to their conversation and they both were worried and wanted to tell me, but they felt like I wasn’t ready to know the truth just yet. SERIOUSLY?!! They thought I wasn’t ready to know the truth, but it was okay because I could handle all the lies they told me? SERIOUSLY?!! After I heard that I decided right there and then to leave. Why should I stay in a house, in a pack where all everyone ever does is lie to me? Why should I stay somewhere that I have been lied to my whole life? I won’t, I can’t stay here now knowing the truth, so I left to figure out and learn who I really am, but when I stopped to rest and eventually decided to stay I ran into a lycan pack. I was shocked when they wanted to take me into their home and help me, but the lycan king kept looking at me weird and then he called me mate. I have no idea of werewolves or lycans and their customs because I’m not one of them, so what the hell is a mate? Can I trust these people enough to help me find out who I truly am? Can I trust the lycan king to help me or will I run away from him as well? Will he help me find out what I am and will it be in time? Can I trust him enough or will he lie to me as well? Will he still want me when we find out what I truly am or will he throw me away or will I leave on my own terms? All these questions and yet I don’t have any of the answers just yet, but I will tell you one thing. I am so sick and tired of lies, I won’t stand for it any longer and I am more determined than ever to learn the truth about me, but what will I do when I find out the truth and what I really am? Will I be able to handle it or will I run? What will happen when I first shift into whatever beast I am? Will I go crazy like everyone thinks I will or will I stay strong?

Alpha Joe’s P.O.V I stood there looking at the dead body of one of my pack members, one I should have protected and one that had her life taken all too soon. She was only sixteen years old and hadn’t even met her mate yet, but that wasn’t going to happen now that she had been murdered in cold blood. “SPARROW, GET THAT SON OF A b***h!! I WANT HIS ASS HERE NOW, SO I CAN RIP HIS f*****g HEAD OFF HIS SHOULDERS!!! HE KILLED ONE OF OURS!!! AN INNOCENT!!! HE HAS TO GO DOWN NOW!!!” I angrily shouted as I started stripping out of my clothes and tying them to my ankle. “Yes Alpha.” Sparrow replied, doing the same as me. We both shifted and ran as fast as we could, chasing the brown furred, red eyed, drooling rogue wolf. Not only did he smell really bad, like rotten eggs and sour milk mixed with rotten fruit, he also looked rabid and that was never a good combination. He needed to be dealt with and fast before he hurt or killed anyone else. I saw an old wooden shed or shack in the distance and then we saw the rogue hightail it into there, so Sparrow and I both stopped dead in our tracks. “That could be his home or hangout, we need to be careful because it could be a trap or he could have traps lying about.” I said, mind-linking Sparrow and he nodded his wolf head. We shifted back into our human forms and put on the shorts that were tied around our ankles. We carefully went into the old shack and started to look around for him. This place was a lot bigger than it appeared to be on the outside, but then we heard a noise and went straight to where it was coming from. Sparrow and I were both shocked when we saw that the noise didn’t come from the rogue we were chasing, it came from a young child. She had her back to us and was curled up in the tightest ball, crying her eyes out, but what stood out the most was the blood. She was covered in matted blood that looked to be a few days old, her hair was a mess, but I couldn’t see a mark on her. “Alpha, this child looks to be about four or five years old, but where are her parents? We need to take her to our pack doctors to get her checked out and make sure that she is okay. What do you think happened here?” Sparrow asked and I shrugged, still looking around. “I don’t know, she could have shifted early, gone crazy and killed or the blood might not be hers and she could be the victim. Either way we will have to keep a close eye on her.” I replied, kneeling down next to her. I carefully picked her up in my arms and she whimpered, scared of what was happening, then I handed her to Sparrow, who gave me a weird look. “Alpha, if we can’t find her parents, then we will adopt her and keep her as our own. You know that Sadie can’t have pups.” Sparrow said and I was shocked, but I also felt proud. I nodded, but my wolf, Chewy, started talking to me and the more I thought about it the more I decided to talk to Sparrow about it. “Sparrow, just be careful. We don’t even know who she is or anything about her and Chewy says that she smells of wolf bear and cat mixed together, but that could be the blood on her. We don’t know if that blood is from creatures that she has killed herself or that were killed by others around her. We must be careful.” I replied and Sparrow nodded. We were so focused on the small child that we forgot to check one of the rooms and then we heard breaking glass. I quickly ran to the room just in time to see that the rogue had taken his chance and went through the window to get away from us. He is lucky this time, but if we ever cross paths again then he is going to be as dead as a doorknob, I thought to myself and went back to Sparrow. The small child in his arms had started to whimper even more and when I pressed my hand to her head she felt like she was on fire. “We need to go now, she’s burning up.” I said and we hurried out of the shack. We ran all the way back to the Black River Moon pack and rushed her straight to the pack doctors. The doctor and nurses checked her over and Sparrow and I waited in the hallway just outside her door. We stayed there until we knew that she was okay and then I had to go back to taking care of pack business and organise a search party for any hurt or dead creatures to explain the blood on her and Sparrow had to tell his wife Sadie everything that had happened and that he wanted to adopt the young girl. This was going to be a hell of a conversation and I was glad that I wasn’t the one having it. seventeen Years Later…… Brie’s P.O.V Many years ago I was told that I was found in an old rundown abandoned shack that looked like it could fall down at any minute, that it was actually the Alpha, Joe and my adopted father, Sparrow, that found me. They were chasing after a rogue that had killed a young pack member and followed him into the shack, but had the shock of their lives when they found me instead. The Alpha and my father held me in their arms, telling me that everything was going to be alright, that I was safe now, but they were so focused on me that the rogue escaped. I was brought to the pack doctors at Black River Moon pack, which is where I am still living now. I don’t remember anything from that time because I was too young, but from what I was told by my parents, I was found crying and curled up in a ball. At first everyone thought I was a wolf, just like the rest of the pack, but now they don’t know what I am and most assume that I’m human, which I don’t mind. It wasn’t weird growing up with them, especially as I never knew my real parents and they told me that I was adopted, but when they told me that they were werewolves and lived in a pack, I was more than a little shocked, but I soon got used to the idea. I am eighteen years old now and although I am healthy I still have to take these pills every day to keep my anxiety in check. The doctor gives me the pills because I get nervous from time to time and when I have a bad attack I feel like my heart is going to beat right out of my chest, but the more I think about it the more I think that it’s all in my head, that this was something I was just made to believe from a young age. I know that my parents would give me everything and anything I asked for, but I’m not like that. I work and earn my own money, plus I plan on getting my own place soon. I looked at the time and saw that I had to be at work soon, so I hurried to get ready. I had to wear black jeans and a white top because I work in a coffee shop as a waitress, but I always worry that I’m going to spill coffee down my shirt, so I started wearing an apron over my clothes. I don’t get many tips, but when I do I save them up and although it's only a dollar or two at a time, it all adds up. I worked right the way through until ten that night and when my boss, Jeffery, came into the shop he handed me the envelope with my paycheck in it. “I gave you a raise since you have been working here for three years now.” Jeffery said and I smiled. He gave me a raise every year and I loved the extra money because it's very helpful, especially with me looking for a new place. Jeffery went to the office in the back, while I finished cleaning up the shop and then headed home, leaving him to lock up. I was on my way back to the pack's territory and when I made it home I parked my car and went straight into the house. I was going to shout out that I was home, but then I heard my name being mentioned causing me to stop and listen. I don’t like to eavesdrop, but when someone mentions me I just can’t help it. “Sparrow, Brie is going to find out sooner or later. How long can we keep making her take those pills and lying to her about what they really are? Sooner or later she is going to realise that the doctor is prescribing her wolfsbane tablets to keep whatever inside her weak. Hell, we don’t even know what she is, but if she shifts then she might just go crazy and kill again.” My mother said and I was shocked. What the hell were they talking about? “Sadie, we don’t even know if she shifted and killed anyone back then, so don’t say that. You know that a thorough search was done and we couldn’t find any bodies or bones, so that might not have been the reason she was covered in all that blood. I know we need to tell her, but not right now, let her live her life. She doesn’t need to be worried about this.” My dad replied and I heard my mother sigh. I had no idea what they were talking about, but I didn’t like it one bit, I just couldn’t let onto the fact that I knew any of what they had said. I waited a few minutes, took a deep breath and then knocked on my dad's office door, before walking inside. “Hey mom, dad, just letting you know that I’m home.” I said and they both smiled when they saw me, but I could see the worry in their eyes. “Are you hungry because I could fix you something to eat?” My mom asked, but I shook my head no. “Alright then, go rest up.” My mom said and I nodded, leaving the office and heading upstairs to my room. When I got inside I closed the door behind me and sat down on the bed, remembering everything that was said. Why did they think that I would kill someone if I shift? Why are they poisoning me with wolfsbane? What did they mean when they said kill again? I thought and started pacing back and forth, trying to piece it all together. I don’t remember anything from when they found me, but how could I kill someone and forget about it? No, it’s not possible. I would remember doing something like that and I know that I haven’t done that, but it's obvious that they don’t trust me or they wouldn’t be drugging me and keeping the truth from me. f**k it, if they can’t trust me enough to tell me the truth, then I’m out of here. I packed as much as I could into two huge suitcases and a few backpacks, then I pulled out three huge hat boxes from my closet. I kept some of my money here, which was my play money and the rest was kept in a checking account. I had saved up every dollar I made in wages and tips, as well as the money I was given for doing odd jobs, birthdays and christmas. I now had fifty thousand dollars in my checking account and about another twenty thousand in my hat boxes, maybe even more seeing as I had been doing small jobs for the pack ever since I was a child and they would pay me really well, which is when I started saving up. I stuck every dollar I had in one of my backpacks and then sat down on my bed, waiting for my parents to go to bed and fall asleep. Almost an hour later I heard my parents footsteps on the stairs and then the sound of their bedroom door opening and closing, so I just had to wait a little while longer, knowing that it wouldn’t take them long to fall asleep. I held my breath as I opened my door a little, but when I heard the faint snores of my father I let it all out. This is it, I need to go now. I carried my suitcases and backpacks down the stairs, trying my best not to knock anything over or make any noise, then left next to my fathers office door. I placed the small note I had written on his desk, then left, closing the door behind me and grabbed my suitcases and backpacks once again. I opened the front door carefully and quietly, closed it behind me and then loaded my car up. I breathed a sigh of relief when I started the engine and none of the lights in the house came on, alerting my parents. I sped off down the driveway, not wanting to stay here a minute longer than I already had. I don’t know where I am heading, but I’m sure that wherever it is I can get a job and find a place to live. By the time morning comes I will hopefully be far enough away that my parents and the rest of the pack won’t be able to find me.
