The laughter of children makes me open my eyes. I am lying on the couch in the living room at home.
“Play with us, Daddy,” A small child with brown eyes resembling Amber’s smiles at me. I cannot discern if the child is a boy or a girl.
I sit up on the couch and look around. Amber and Tyler sit on the other side while three children play in the center of the room. I smile at the child holding their hand towards me.
“Do you want to play Candyland with us?” the child asks me.
I look at the other two sitting on the floor with a colorful game board. I reach for the child’s hand, only for all of them to disappear, leaving only Amber and Tyler in the room.
