“You look perfect,” Teresa purrs from behind me.
I am standing in front of a full-length mirror admiring myself. I spent the last three hours preparing for my Luna ceremony. “I agree,” I twirl myself admiring the silver goddess dress draped over my body. Teresa had picked it out for me. At first, I was hesitant because I didn’t think it was my style, but seeing it, I am in love. “You have perfect taste,” I say to my mother-in-law.
She gently squeezes my shoulder, “See? Mothers always know best,” she winks. “I know I am not your mother, and I won’t push to replace her, but I think of you as my daughter. I want the best for you, Lenore.”
I touch her hand and squeeze, “Thank you, Mom.” I smile, and tears well up in her eyes.
She sniffles, “Great, there goes my makeup,” she chuckle
