Tell el-Mukayyar – The night raidFour members of the team reached into the empty space in the four corners of the cube in an attempt to gently lift out the mysterious sphere. To their amazement, the black globe rose up several centimetres, almost effortlessly. The task seemed much easier than they had predicted.
“It’s so light!” exclaimed the youngest of the four. “I bet it weighs ten kilos at the most.”
“Please be careful”, said Elisa anxiously. “We mustn’t scratch it accidentally. Now, altogether, try to lift it out.”
The four worked together, synchronising their movements, and in just a few seconds the sphere was already out of its heavy container.
“Put it down here,” said Elisa, pointing to a wooden shelf padded with soft, colourful blankets. “Gently, I suggest.”
