“Alicia!” she heard Steven yell.
Alicia watched as the orb of light hit the vampire in the stomach and disintegrated it into dust. A big smile appeared on her face, happy that one of the spells had finally worked for her… but shocked at the same time. She was so wrapped up in her personal celebration that she didn’t see another vampire coming at her.
She saw something out of the corner of her eye and turned just in time to see its head disappear. Blood sprayed across her face and body and a shadow flitted across the cemetery before vanishing. Feeling something hit her foot, Alicia looked down and jumped back when she saw it was the vampire’s severed head. Lifting her startled gaze, she looked around for the shadow that had saved her but it was gone.
