Brother Jarak stared down at the map. “An excellent representation,” he noted.
They had returned to the Constance, followed by the tiny rowboat and were now gathered in the captain’s cabin.
Constance“What can you tell us about Brother Aiden?” asked Charlaine.
“He was captured a few weeks ago. We had been sent to try and infiltrate Halvaria itself, as it was felt that Calabria was an easier gateway to the Empire than any of the more settled regions.”
“So you weren’t here about the raids?”
“No, though once we arrived, the presence of their fleet alerted us to the possibility of a full-blown invasion.”
“Are you sure?” asked Captain Logar.
“There is no other explanation for the proximity of so many warriors.”
“But aren"t they needed to keep the population in check?”
