Chapter 1 Nathaniel's pov It was a very bright morning, and the sun rays were ever so bright. It was One of those usual mornings I would wake up to. The same morning I had for over seven years. But there was nothing compared to the emptiness I felt each day like some part of me was missing. Yes Winifred had been long banished seven years ago but it felt more like a decade. I wanted her back. In all my years as alpha I've never seen a woman skillfully designated like she was. She was the type of woman any king of this time would want to have. Besides time was running and I needed an heir for myself. I knew Winifred wasn't dead, neither was she lost in the middle of nowhere. She was a smart and a very indulgent woman. "I want her back!"i said to myself out loud. She is My mate and the one that would bear children for me. Maybe that was the only reason I wanted her back. Just to have children for me. Many times I had taken other women with me but I felt absolute nothing for them. I was so hungry for Winifred. And I was going to get her back by all means. Even if it meant war. I got out of bed to start my day as usual. There was a meeting I needed to attend today and I didn't want to be late. The maids knew when and how i wanted my bath. "Your highness. A bath has been prepped for you" a young maiden said to me. They looked different each single day and I was worried that most of them might be spies. But even they were i would have their heads chopped off in no time. That was why I was fearless alpha, i commanded respect regardless of the situation. I saw myself as a manipulator but that was the way I handled things here. I covered my lower body and got into my shower room were about five maidens waiting on me. I got into the warm bath tub, it always felt even warmer once I was fully relaxed in it. And yes the maidens chuckled every now and then. It was the usual for this maidens. "My king the others await your presence for the meeting"the first maiden that informed me in the beginning spoke again. "I'll be there in a moment. Speed up the process will you" i spoke to the maids that wouldn't stop giggling. In no time we were done and I was dressed on a red and black leather clothing and black trousers. The meeting hall was full already with prominent members of the pack. I was the last to arrive but that wasn't the issue, they'd never complain to my face. "What a bright new morning we have again. ... welcome welcome.. all of you today"I smiled knowing that they were disgusted with my lateness. "It's an honor my king. We are gathered here for a pressing issue that has been circulating round the pack for a long while" ramus the chief security guard and my hand Man. He would travel to send messages to other Kings and in return give me their response. He was the Best hand man I had in the few years of my reign. "Ramus tell me.. what exactly could that be?" "One of the greater packs surrounding us has been making little moves to attack us. I heard from a pack member that there could be spies around. Watching and informing others of our every move. We need to take action" ramus obliged. "And the punishment for any unknown is death. This my king should take place if one is found without restriction " Lady Belmont said. She was quick to judge and lay waste once a rule was apprehended. "Of course lady Belmont. Whoever finds any of this spies would be rewarded greatly. Send the word around" i announced. "When we get the spies we shall force them to speak and tell us all they know "i said. There was mumurring in the meeting hall. "Doesn't he know what he's doing?".
