The child of the moon

2 overslept..

My heart gave an extra beat, mom always gave me very special gifts. Last year, she had given me the gift of combat skills. But now she just looked at me with concern in her eyes and said “You are the essence of beauty my child and therefore this year you will not receive a gift as you have before, but instead a cape woven by me. 

When you wear the cape and hood over your head no one will see your beauty. 

You are still visible however there is no one who will object you because of your beauty. The cape will be in front of your door in 3 days when you start your journey ”

I looked at her and could see her concern so I just smiled and thanked her“ Thank you, mom, I am sure I will be very happy for it ”

I hugged her and while we were standing there I told her that I loved her,

she took the flowers that I had picked for her and stroked my hair. "I love you too Luna, my beloved child, see you in a year" And with that, she clapped her hands together and rose to the sky.

I went back into the house and sat down on a chair. I could feel the nervousness crawling up my spine and I got cold sweats all over my body. I mean for goddess sake she is the moon goddess!!!!  so if she nervures then I REALLY worried…. With concern through my whole body, I went to bed and fell asleep in a restless, dreamless sleep. 

The next days flew by, I spent the day preparing things I would need for the trip. I had made myself a big backpack of a kind, that I could carry both in my wolf form and in my human form. 

In it I had 3 dresses, some underwear, 2 corsets, a nightgown, my winter boots, dried meat and other dried vegetables that were long-lasting for when I did not have time to hunt, a purse with money that I had received from my mother then she taught me about the outside world. and a full water bottle in leather.

so, with tender fingers from the work, I lay down on my bed and immediately fell asleep, and I slept like a rock all night.

And, of course, I did not wake up early in the morning as I wanted to when I woke up it was almost mid-day.

I almost jumped out of bed and rushed to put on the dress I had preperd the day before, it was long but with sleeves that only went to my elbows and had an beautiful embroidered pattern of red roses with green stems. The dress itself was a deep red color and with a light v neck cutout. 

The dress had a belt where I attached an extra small wallet that had half of all the money I had in. I also attached a small ax, a knife and some pine steel in a small bag. Eventually I remembered to put a blanket in my backpack and took it on my back.

The instant moment when I opened my front door I heard voices. My feet froze to the ground as I heard the voices come closer, I was sure it was men's voices even though I had never heard a man's voice before. But their voices were much deeper than the voice of the goddess and my own. 

One of the men suddenly says "I never think I've been this far in the woods before, it's almost like it has been hiding something or been cursed or something like that…." there is laughter then there is another voice saying "it is funny enough why it's called the damned forest mr ... ”he can't finish his sentence for a new voice saying,“ hey guys look there lies a f*****g house ”.

I don't waste another second after I heard that. I take the coat that Mother has put outside the door and put it on. 

Rushes inside the kitchen and takes the bottle of some liquid that hides the smell of my wolf and puts some on, the rest of the bottle I put down in the small wallet in my belt. Then I hide my self inside the wall behind my bookshelf, where is at the moment a very convenient tiny space. 

Just big enuf for me to squeeze into. The only problem there is with the tiny space is that with the bag on my bag I can't close the door completely…..  and the only thing I can do is hope that they don't see it….. oh dear moon guides help me why did I oversleep exactly this day…..
