Bright's POV:
At Morgan Group's head office, I was seated on my office chair inside my office, discussing business with a client when my office door swung open and my fiancee, Nini Andre, who worked as my finance executive, barged in.
"Bright, I am done with this relationship!" Nini shouted as she rushed in and threw the diamond engagement ring that I gave her the previous night in my face.
Nini didn't care that I had a client with me. She couldn't wait for us to be alone, and she openly embarrassed me in front of my top partner.
"Mr. Justin Tilman, we will discuss the business negotiation later," I informed my partner, who stood up and left my office respectfully. He acted blind, as if he didn't see the angry woman in my office.
After Mr. Justin left my office, I fixed my gaze on Nini. She is a fair-skinned, tall and slender 27-year-old lady.
"What is it, Nini? Why did you throw the engagement ring at me?" I asked her, standing up from my office chair. I am the CEO of Morgan Groups and the Blues Hotel in this city.
"Are you asking me why I am calling it quits, Bright? Are you really a man? We have been having unprotected s*x for the past five years, and yet, I am not pregnant by you. What does that tell you? That you are impotent!" Nini shouted, glaring daggers at me.
My heart ached at the way she said that to my face. I already knew that I am not capable as a man down there, but at least, I provide for her and her family's needs.
"Nini, we have been dating for five years now. Why do you want to break up with me because of this? We can get medical help. You will have my child," I said to her, walking out from behind my desk to approach her. But she yelled at me.
"Don't come any closer to me! You are an impotent man. What's the point of having all these millions when you cannot get a woman pregnant! I cannot continue with you, Bright! I only accepted your ring at the hotel yesterday because I did not want to embarrass you, but I cannot continue with you. You should look for a barren woman to marry, not me," Nini said, not caring if her words were breaking my heart.
"Nini, please, you know that I love you very much. I did everything to support you and your family. I paid your tuition fees at the university. You cannot break up with me now," I told her, but she narrowed her eyes at me.
"Tell me how much you spent on me, Bright? I will make a refund. This is my life that I am talking about here! My future. I cannot spend the rest of my life with you. And do not come after me again, we are over. Completely over! Besides, I gave you my body in these past five years that we have known each other. So take that as payment for all the money that you spent on me. But I cannot take this ring. I need a real man who will make me feel like a woman, not an incompetent CEO like yourself!" Nini shouted and darted out of my office, leaving my world turning black.
I have always loved Nini Andre. I did everything to make her happy. But recently, I don't know how she found out that I am impotent. I haven't discussed it with her yet, but she says she wants to have a child before we are married.
I moved back to my office chair to resume my office work, as the time was past 4 pm. I couldn't focus on anything that I was doing.
My mind still replayed all the words that Nini said to me.
I am a 31-year-old man, and I had been dating Nini since I was 26.
Sighing, I turned off my computer and picked up my phone to call my best friends, Sunny Howard and Gabriel Jefferson.
"Hello, Sunny, are you free tonight?" I asked Sunny, and he apologized to me. "I am sorry, Bright. I have an important client to meet tonight, and I cannot hang out with you. Why not call Gabriel?"
I frowned and felt like the world was turning its back on me.
"That's fine. I will call Gabriel now," I said before my call with Sunny ended. I placed a call to Gabriel, asking him to hang out with me.
"Hello, Gabriel. Can you hang out with me tonight?" I asked him, and he paused and asked, "Where? Why not call your girlfriend to hang out with you?"
My heart ached at the reminder of Nini and how bluntly she had cut me off, also warning me not to go after her.
"Nini broke up with me and returned my engagement ring," I told Gabriel, and he gasped, "What? That bìtch! I already knew that she didn't want to marry you. Didn't you see the way she was behaving after you gave her the ring? She was reluctant to accept you!" Gabriel was seething with rage, and I could feel his anger over the phone.
"It's okay, Gabriel. I hold no grudge against Nini. She says that I am not man enough to get her pregnant, and she doesn't want me," I said, and the phone call went silent for a while.
"Are you sure you want to hang out in your club tonight? You just need to relax and calm down and maybe try to reach out to Nini to know if she is serious about breaking up with you. Besides, you have done so much for her. You helped her family, and now, she wants to quit the relationship with you?" Gabriel was angry, and I understood him.
"Gabriel, let it slide. Nini will surely come back to me. She cannot do without money, so she will come to beg me," I told him, and he sighed.
"Alright. I will see you tonight at the Blues Clubhouse. Time, 6 pm," he said, and I felt better.
"Alright. I am still at the company. Once I close, I will head to the Blues," I told Gabriel, and he replied, "Alright. I will see you there."
My phone call with Gabriel ended, and I got a call from my stepmother, Eden Morgan.
"Hello, Mom," I told her, and she asked me, "Bright, what's going on? I heard that Nini Andre has ended her engagement with you? Why would she do that?"
Shutting my eyes at the painful memory, I replied, "It's her choice. How am I supposed to know?"
"How can you say that you do not know why your own fiancee broke up with you? Anyway, you have to come home today. Your father insists," she said, and my brows furrowed.
"I am in no mood to come home. How about tomorrow? I will be at home," I told her, as the day is Friday. I need some time to chill and relax.
My stepmother, Eden, doesn't really like me, so I am sure she is celebrating now that my fiancée has called off my engagement.
"Fine," she said and ended the call. I got ready to leave my office and hang out with Gabriel at the Blues Clubhouse.
