The plane began its descent, and the engines roared low in my bones. The vibration pressed up through the seat, into my chest, until I could almost believe the sound belonged to me instead of the machine. The city stretched out below, lights scattered across the dark like broken glass flung across velvet. Sharp. Beautiful. Dangerous. My body still hummed with him. Every nerve remembered.
