Chapter 8: An enemy to Destroy

Damian was alerted when he felt a familiar presence. He waited, taking his guard up. Staring at the visitors who appeared uninvited. He finally realized who was the one who made a grand entrance. He met the familiar faces of the shadow hunters that he met in the woods. He regretted giving them a chance to find him. Also cursing himself that he was unable to think about hiding his presence, underestimating the finding skills of the two. 

Nevertheless, Damian was confident that he could take them down. He showed his claws an attribute of him as a demon. But then he had a sudden realization, he was not the only one inside this mansion. He glanced at the three seemingly adjusting themselves because of the thick dust that was caused by the falling debris coughing along the way, he scanned them to see if they’re fine, he exhaled relief to see them okay. He pans again to the enemy in front of him, now losing confidence because of the three.

Not because of him showing his powers, the three of them already experienced it, but because they would be in danger if they stay. Knowing the two they will surely capture one of them hostage or even the three of them.  “Missing your mommy? and you even brought friends with you, how thoughtful, though they aren’t as important as you.” 

A sense of relief rushed again through Damian; he was glad that the two idiots did not seem too caught up with the reason why he is here in HELIO. Trying to find an escape for the three, his thoughts were caught off when Neveah asked them who are the guys that are seemingly too proud of themselves that they have to have a grand entrance to this story even though they’re only irrelevant characters. 

“They’re the ones tasked to capture me, Nagi and Gini.” 

Damian said with a bitter force when he called out their names. Damian recalls the time when he was in prison, these two were the ones who always bully him whenever they see him, kicking him and even adding some bruises after he was tortured. Not an ounce of thought passed him, that he will forget nor forgive these two. No, since there is one of the guys who pissed off Damian for 20 years in that s**t of a prison. 

“Nigiri?” 

Damian and the Shadow Hunters panned their heads to Neveah who suddenly talked. ‘What’s a nigiri?’ Damian thought about trying to find someone named nigiri. 

“Menagerie?” 

Larcade also asked, staring at the shadow hunters. ‘wait are these words rhyme with…’ 

“Atomic theory?” 

Lucas followed after Larcade. Damian stifled a laugh covering his mouth when he realized what they were doing. ‘they’re words that rhyme with their names’ Damian uses all of his energy to not laugh about the three’s insults of their name. The shadow hunters looked at them dumbfounded; it took them a mere 20 seconds to realize what those words are. 

The shadow hunters’ faces shift to a terrifying expression, glaring at the three of them. “You know Damian? Our order is to capture you alive, it doesn't say that we can’t kill those brats who are fool enough to not shut their mouths.” 

Damian finally took the situation seriously. He cusses in his mind when he notices the two emitting their magic aura. Magic auras are linked to their magical ability. The only ones who can emit this are sorcerers and creatures. Magic auras have a distinct color for every person, the two hunters have a black aura which means their magical ability consists of dark magic. Black auras are only found in creatures like shadow hunters or any creatures who use dark magical abilities. Nervous for the three, Damian also emits his magical aura which makes the hunters stunned.

Their reactions made Damian snicker. Of course, since the hunters didn’t even expect him to have a magic aura. Demons are not part of any sorcerers or creatures, they are different beings that have a different magical abilities. Since Demons are the second being that landed into the world, they were given different magical abilities. 

But Damian’s case is different. Damian, who was a demon, was taken care of by sorcerers and was surrounded by sorcerers all his life so he doesn’t have a choice to adapt to his surroundings. With Isis' help, he managed to wield a sorcerer's ability. Isis did everything she could to not let Damian’s Demon blood and Sorcerer magic clash.

 Instead, she found another way to make the two work together without conflicting with each other that led to Damian being Isis’ best student. Damian’s magic aura is a beautiful golden yellow. Auras like this are common in the Light magic ability, this magic includes healing oneself.

Damian smirked ready to fight the two, Larcade and the others were astonished because of the beautiful flowing light surrounding Damian. They thought that they were fireflies that came together to protect him, ‘So this is a magic power’ Neveah thought admiring Damian’s proud back. She smiled, her eyes twinkling. She clenches her fist to contain her excitement. The other two who were beside her looked at her weirdly, wondering how Neveah can be so calm in this dire situation. 

Nagi, the one who has an all-black in his right eye, started dashing Damian, his fist filled with a black aura, ready to hit him. Damian, who expected it, dodge and grabs his arms, digging his claws in his flesh, Nagi winces at the pain, he uses his other fist to punch him.  Damian avoids the attack and leaped away. Nagi was able to regenerate his wounds, after doing it he began to dive again. Damian, who didn’t move an inch, took a glance at Gini; he raised his left eyebrow confused as to why he was just standing there. 

Nagi began to punch but Damian easily evaded every attack. Nagi was slowly feeling his blood boil and took notice of Damian who was currently preoccupied with his thoughts, which made Nagi seriously annoyed. Nagi gathered all of his energy into one beam, ready to hit Damian.

Damian, unable to process what Nagi was doing, didn't move to his spot, ‘I didn’t expect him to have this power.’ He squinted his eyes and took notice of the visible purple vessels to Nagi’s neck. ‘Enhancement?’ Damian, who was drowned by his thoughts, didn't notice the upcoming beam that was headed for him.

 But then a man’s figure appear Infront of Damian that caught his attention. Before he could react, a blinding black light appeared indicating that the beam was hit by something. Feeling fine he nervously looked, forcing himself to open his eyes through the blinding light.

But what he saw made his mouth gape open.  A green forcefield was currently protecting them. He peeked at Larcade who was currently in front of him. He finally realized that the forcefield was made by him. Larcade, who was also shocked, stood there. ‘How did he…?’ After a second of silence Larcade suddenly shouted that made Damian flinch. 

“Neveah, you i***t, don’t push me again!” 

Neveah runs to Larcade grabbing him and moving him from side to side trying to see if anything happens to Larcade, Lucas who trails behind her. Damian finally grasped the situation, 

“I was planning to push Lucas, sacrificing him but I panicked and pushed you instead, I’m so sorry!” Neveah kneels rubbing her palms together, asking for forgiveness. 

“Wait, you were planning to sacrifice me?” Lucas, who was shocked by the information he heard, lightly kicked Neveah but still caused her to fall to the ground. 

“Of course, you, dipshit, your life will be worth more if you sacrifice it.” Neveah returns Lucas’ kick with a slap on his thigh. “But it still doesn’t change the fact that you pushed me.” Larcade also joined Lucas is kicking her.

The remaining three, Damian, Nagi, and Gini watch the other three bickerings, with a dumbfounded expression painted on their faces. Their eyes follow when Neveah rolled into the ground like a soccer ball because of Larcade and Lucas’ kick. Nagi’s eyes twitch, 

“I have enough of this!” He shouted, causing the others to turn their attention to him. 

“You, their brat, how did you do it?” Nagi asked and pointed his fingers at Larcade. Larcade who was confused for a second finally recalls what happened a while ago. 

“I didn’t do it.” Larcade retorted, his eyebrows clashed, puzzled onto why Nagi asked him. 

“What do you mean, you didn’t do it? I saw you appear before that beam, making that forcefield.” Larcade who stood there was about to disagree but Damian stopped him by raising his hands. 

“What’s it to you?” Damian dismissed Nagi, glaring at him. 

“Is this the reason why you’re here in HELIO?” Gini stated for an hour of being silent. He looks through Damian’s eyes in which Damian returns with a glare. 

“So... he can talk.” Neveah who came back up from the floor broke the tension. 

“I know, I thought he was mute.” Lucas agreed with Neveah. “He’s been standing there like a creep for an hour.” Larcade who also commented began to whisper to each other. 

This made Gini annoyed. “I can talk, okay?! And, I’m not a creep!” Gini who defended himself lost his composure. 

The three of them, Neveah, Lucas, and Larcade, stared at him with an unreadable expression. “So, he was just doing it to be cool. I bet the readers find it annoying.” Neveah whispered enough for it to be heard by the remaining people of the mansion, to the other guys. “Yeah, such a loser.” Lucas. Larcade nods at both of their comments.

Damian slapped his forehead expressing that he was done by the trio’s antics, shaking his head. ‘How did I meet such brats?’ Gini finally loses his patience and orders Nagi to attack them. Damian, who reacts, waved his hand, an invisible force pushed Nagi away hitting the wall, after a second Nagi came back up, started dashing Damian. 

Damian raised his palms that causing Nagi to freeze, Nagi squirms around but to his dismay, his body doesn't move. Damian slightly moved his hand downward, this caused Nagi to faceplant on the floor with a loud impact. Damian raised him using his power, he saw that Nagi was unconscious. ‘Finally, a moment of peace...’ A slight smile appeared on his face, satisfied by what he’s done.

“That’s so cool.” 

Neveah commented again, unable to make her mouth shut. ‘I shouldn’t speak too soon.’ Damian took a glance at her, he slightly flinched when he saw Neveah’s expression. ‘Like a kid who found a new toy.’ Damian quickly avoids her stares while ignoring the twinkling atmosphere behind him, looking at Gini.

 He threw Nagi’s body to him which he avoided. Gini’s eyebrows clashed as he readied himself to fight Damian. ‘I underestimated this son-of-a-b!tch’ Gathering a magic beam on his hands, he steadied it to Damian’s direction. Suddenly, Nagi who regained his consciousness began to attack Damian again. 

Gini who retracted his beam smiled at Damian mockingly. In which Damian tilts his head, feeling sus. Damian, who had enough because the fight is taking longer, grabbed Nagi’s neck. Nagi choked while trying to remove Damian’s hands

. Damian scans Nagi and he notices the overall purple veins appearing from his neck to his face. “Enhancement?” Damian laughed. 

“You think that you can beat me because you enhanced your power?”

 He glared at the both of them, shaking his head. He raised Nagi again using his power and planted a black hole with luminous yellow light surrounding it on the center of his body. Nagi shouted, panicking tears and snots off his face, he flailed his arms trying to grab onto something but to no avail he was swallowed by the black hole in a matter of seconds without leaving any trace. The three behind Damian swallowed their excess saliva, astonished and fear crept upon them. 

“Now, tell me, where did you get your enhancement, as I recall you were just little shrimps than the other Hunters in your organization” Damian started walking in Gini's direction. He backed away trying to escape but he was cornered.

“You don’t have the right to know.” Annoyed, Damian made him kneel using his powers. 

“You know both of you had a chance to kill me a while ago if you just worked together on attacking me at the same time.” Damian stopped, 5-meter away from him. 

“But knowing you idiots, you never thought of it.” Damian mocked them with a smirk.

 Neveah open her mouth surprised, she was analyzing the fight that happened a while ago and she noticed that Gini wasn’t joining Nagi in fighting Damian so she thought that maybe they had some backup plan to defeat him, but the truth is that they didn’t even think of it made Neveah facepalmed.

“I will give you a chance to live if you answer my question.” 

Damian stares at Gini with a deadpan expression, losing his patience as seconds pass. His eyes twitched when he heard Gini scoff. Gini stared at his eyes wide, this made Damian shiver, ‘This guy is indeed a creep.’ Damian waited for his choice, 

“A ‘hunter’ never reveals his secrets.” 

He said, smiling proudly. All four of them, dumbfounded by what they heard. An infamous idiom left his mouth. 

“It’s a ‘magician’, Idiot.”

 Damian who finally loses his patience snapped his finger. A black hole appeared in his body, but because of Damian’s annoyance, he let him get swallowed quickly without giving him a dramatic dialogue or scene.
