Third-person POV
Early that next morning at the break of first light, Cole got up. Before he left on his journey, the hotel's owner met him, who gave him some food and drinks to take with him.
"Thank you, sir, it's very kind of you," Cole said to the hotel owner.
"It's my pleasure Cole, you are going to need all the strength possible, so it's the least I can do to help. I wish you all the luck and that you will finally get rid of those Rogues for us." The hotel owner replies.
"Do not worry, sir, when I return, they will never bother you again as they will all be dead," Cole says to the hotel owner and takes his leave.
He had to go on foot as the woods are too dense and rough for any vehicle to move in. So he walks down the road leading to the woods until he gets there and stands in front of the woods.
This is it—his first hunt. Cole wishes Mikael was here to see it, but Mikael cannot know he is doing this. Cole knows his own capabilities, and he will never know if he doesn't engage in actual combat. This is something he has to do by himself. Luckily Mikael gave him the silver sword. It is really going to come in handy now. Well, here goes nothing. Taking his first step into the woods means his mission has officially started. Cole goes towards the eastern side of the woods, as the mayor said. These woods are dense and dark. Luckily the wind is blowing from his front to pick up their scent, and the wind blowing against him won't give his scent away. Cole is not a big fan of the woods, but at least it's a familiar fighting ground for him as Mikael let him do a lot of my training in the woods close to the academy. Cole must admit that Mikael might not have been the best father, but he is a damn good trainer.
Cole rushes through the tree lines in the woods using his werewolf speed and cunning. He finds a path with tracks. I must be getting closer. These tracks are pretty fresh. He heads east, following the trail.
Following the path, he suddenly stops. He can smell fire and something cooking on it as the wind is still blowing right into him. He approaches carefully through the bushes in the woods. As he reaches the end of the bushes, he peaks through and sees a cabin. He sees five young men sitting next to the fire, having a smoke and drinking some beer. So it must be them, Cole thinks to himself. The wind picks up a bit, and suddenly he gets a very familiar scent. It's that of one of the two rogues he thought the day before.
He now knows with certainty he has his targets. He sees they are drinking and having a nice time. They are talking about him and how they will punish the town for what happened the day before.
It looks like they are already celebrating a victory. If only they knew what was about to happen, they wouldn't be so cheerful, Cole thinks to himself. I have to use the element of surprise to my advantage Cole thinks. He sneaks around, wary of keeping the wind blowing from his front side so they won't catch his scent. As he gets closer to the five men, he can see they still expect nothing, and Cole gets ready to make his move. He jumps from the bushes next to the men and cuts the first one's head clean off with the silver blade while the man is still sitting on his wooden bench chair with a beer in his hand. He kicks another one off his chair, and as the man falls, he stabs him right in the heart with the silver blade. Both men were killed instantly. The other three men stumble away and regroup together. As they never thought they would ever have any threat from a fellow werewolf, they didn't have any silver weapons to defend themselves. Their only option was to take the silver sword from Cole and kill him with it or rip him apart with their claws.
"It is him. It's the boy that we fought in town!" One of the rogues say.
"Nice sword you got there boy, you wouldn't mind if we take it, do you?" Another rogue says to Cole.
"I would like to see you try," Cole replies.
He rushes Cole swings his claws at him as he is in full werewolf form. Cole dodges all his attacks as he is too fast for the rogue wolf. As the rogue keeps swinging at Cole, he suddenly feels a sharp pain in his right shoulder. Cole has cut his right arm clean off. As he stands in disbelieve, he suddenly feels something going right through his chest. It was Cole's blade. With his last breath, the rogue wolf cursed and fell to the ground. He, too, was dead. The last two rogues, also full werewolf form, look at each other.
"We have to fight him together. If we are two against one, we have a better chance to kill him!" the one rogue says to the other.
They circle Cole making sudden strikes as they move around him. One of them managed to claw Cole on his back, opening him up with deep cuts. Blood runs down Cole's back.
"You see, you are not as invincible as you thought now, are you, boy? So why stay in your human form? You will be much more powerful in your wolf form." the one rogue says to Cole.
"Lucky hit, let's see you try that again, regarding my wolf form... I won't even need it to kill you," Cole replies.
The two rogue wolves circle Cole again, but this time as the one behind Cole came in for the attack Cole swung his sword around, cutting the rogue werewolf right in halve. The top of his body fell one side and his legs the other side. Seeing this, the last rogue looked at Cole with fear in his eyes and decided to run away. As he is running, he feels a sharp pain from behind. He stops and sees Cole's blade coming from his chest. Cole threw the silver sword right into the rogue wolf's back, going right through his chest. Cole removes the sword from the rogue, and the last rogue falls to the ground. All of them are dead. He cuts off the other wolves' heads to take them back to town. He has all five heads.
Cale cannot believe it, his first hunt and five rogue werewolves non the less.
"Oh, how again I wish Mikael were here to see it. And my first bounty as well. I always wanted to get paid for jobs like this, and now I am finally going to. Let me look around the cabin if I can find something to put the heads in. Ah yes, this old grain bag will do. What is this? It looks like some of the money they collected from the people in town. It's not a lot, but I will return it to the people who look as it belongs to them, and besides, as a Hunter, I can only keep the bounty that I worked for. It looks like there is nothing else here worth anything. Let me have one of their cold beers before I leave," Cole thinks.
It looks Cole finishes his beer, puts the five heads into the grain bag, and heads back to town. He feels more confident than ever before and wishes that Mikael would have let him go on hunts before, as he now knows he is more than capable of handling himself.
"Maybe Mikael knew how powerful I am, maybe he was jealous, or maybe he was scared that I would become a better Hunter than he ever was or even pass his legacy as the best. Never mind, I am on my way now, and I now know what my destiny is." Cole thinks to himself.
As Cole walks back through the woods, he begins to see some of the town's buildings. He is starting to get excited. He still can't believe what he has achieved. As he exits the woods and walks down the street with the bag of heads over his shoulder, the town's people start getting out of their shops and houses. Can it be they think to themselves, did he do it? They all run exited towards Cole. They cheer and laugh and make a lot of noise. The mayor comes out of his offices and sees Cole surrounded by people. He rushes towards Cole.
"Is that what I think it is in the bag?" He asks Cole.
"Yes, it is, Mr. Mayor. It's the heads of the five rogues that plagued your town," Cole replies.
He takes the bag from his shoulder and empties it on the ground. The five heads role out.
"It is indeed them!" The mayor yells, excited and happy.
All the people cheer as they kick their heads around.
"Take those heads and burn them." the mayor orders
"We have seen enough off them lets just get them out of our minds now. To the hotel bar! We need to celebrate our hero. Drinks are on the city council!" the mayor yells out
Everyone rushes to the hotel bar. They drink, play music and dance. Cole truly feels proud. He gives the money he found at the cabin to the mayor.
"Here, Mr. Mayor, I found it inside the cabin of the rogues. I believe it belongs to your town." Cole says to the mayor.
"Thank you so much, Cole. Not only are you here but an honest one as well. I have a feeling you will become one of the most legendary hunters in history. Here is the pin I promised you, you have earned every penny of the reward, and we give it to you with love and respect as you are now our town hero, and we will never forget what you did for us." the mayor replies
"Thank you, Mr. Mayor. It was an honor to help you, but if you will excuse me, I am going to have a few drinks and a meal, then go to sleep as I need to be on my way again early tomorrow morning." Cole says to the mayor.
"I understand Cole and just know one thing. Your story will live long in the minds and hearts of the people of this town." the mayor replies.
Cole has a few drinks, and a meal fit for a hero. After finishing his meal, he retires to his room and goes to sleep. Early that morning, Cole gets on his motorcycle and leaves toward the school. He is now more confident than ever that he will succeed in his primary mission. It will not require as much physical violence, but he knows how important it is to Mikael, and he will not fail him. First, he must get into the school, befriend this girl and lure her to Mikael as he will move into the local town there, and Cole already has the house Mikael will stay at. As Cole comes over the hill, he can see the school in the distance. He pulls to the side of the road and takes off his backpack. He opens it and takes out the picture he got from Mikael that his minion took of her the time he found the girl.
"I can't believe this is my target. She looks so innocent and sweet. But knowing what she will become one day, we have to do this. She must die, and I do exactly as Mikael instructed me."
Cole puts on his helmet again, starts his motorcycle, and drives toward the school.
