Trey's Present Landon entered the cabin that held the plate TREY ALEXANDER BRENT CEO. "Hi Trey, Good Morning. Today we have a trial at 3.00. But it seems like the accused is going to take the deal. Is it ok if I take the new case" Trey slowly looked above from his chair and raised his brows. "There is a new case?" Landon was surprised that he didnt knew. "Yes Mr. Brent sent this case because the parties involved are his friends." Trey took a long breath and said "Yeah, you can handle it. You know I dont want to get involved in any matter that involves him" "Great, I also wanted to talk to you about something, whenever you are free" he hesitated "Go on, I am listening." Trey said without raising his head from the papers. "I proposed to Rylie and she said yes. We are planning on getting married around the Christmas Holidays." "Wow, thats amazing news. Its about time you both finally accepted your feeling for each other. After your last fight I almost thought you guys wont make it but you manned up. Proud of you man. Tell me if you need anything." "Yeah thats what I am here for. Can you be my best man?" He asked Trey not knowing his reply. "Wow, I did not expect that. Hmm. Decide on a date and finalise a place and I will be there." Trey said with a smile Christmas the mere remembrance of the word bought back waves of memory. The happiest Christmases in his life were those which he spent with her. There were very little happy memories in his lifetime. His Grandparents taking care of him, baking with his Grandma, helping his Grandpa find his glasses, yearly visit of his parents during Christmas and then each and every moment he spent with Tia. His trip down the memory lane was broken when his mind reminded him that at the end of the memory lane was painful and its not supposed to be remembered. His phone rang and in display was his Grandma's photo. "Hey Grandma, how are you?" He asked trying to be cheerful. "I am fine. How are you? How is the company doing?" Grandma asked in her soothing voice "I am good too. The company is fine. How come you remembered me in the middle of the day?" "Oh I think about you all the time but I dont want to disturb you while you are being all lawyeryy" "Haha, lawyeryyy. You sound like a millenial Grandma." "I am a millenial. How dare you think otherwise?" "Haha.. Ok teenager what do you want?" "Are you coming home this Christmas?" "Why do you make it hard for me? You know I wont come." "Why Trey? I dont even remember the last time you were here for Christmas. Will you never forgive them?" "Forgive who? I dont know what you are talking about." "Dont you lie to me Trey Alexander Brent. You know who I am talking about. Your parents." "The only parents I remember are you and Grandpa." "Trey, how long are you gonna hold on to this stained relationship with your parents? Please forgive them and give them a chance to show their love and care for you" "There was a time when I longed for that. Now I have learned to live without it. So I dont need it anymore. I am sorry Grandma but I have to go. I will come to visit you. I promise. Ok, Take care of your health for me, will you?" He hung up the call and anger took over him. He felt the need to smash something. He went over to his apartment and entered his gym. He punched the bags till his arms were sore. He worked out everyday and whenever he felt like running away from his pains. After that he took a quick shower and headed onto his trail. The past years he worked like a machine. He moved to NY. He took over the company from his Dad after his Grandpa convinced him. He took each and every case and worked himself. Even though he gave chance to other lawyers to present the case, he always kept an update on everything. He just didnt want to go back home. Home where he spent his entire childhood. Home where every place has a memory of her. Her laughs, her blushes, her anger, her secret smiles, her eyes and the secret messages, her body. The very memory of her made him go crazy. She is the only one who he ever touched, kissed, felt, loved. He tried to move on, went to blind dates set by Landon but nothing ever interested him. To top it all his phobia, he was scared of anybody touching him. Haphephobia. He knew that he had it because of the abuse but when she touched everything seemed right. He was not scared of her touch infact he wanted more of it. There was nobody in the world he wanted to touch and feel other than her. How come everything is so messed up? Am I not eligible for happiness? Why does anybody who loves me cant be with me? So many questions popped as he closed his eyes.
