At that point, Dante took a deliberate step forward. There was something about the way he moved—calm, unhurried—that made the space feel smaller. Emilia caught herself watching him, a strange mix of awe and anxiety curling in her chest. For a brief, almost shameful moment, she wondered if Diah was afraid. Truly afraid. If beneath all that arrogance and superiority, there was fear finally taking root. If there was, it showed.
