Chapter Two "Steve...don't leave me. Don't leave..." She said very softly in between moans. He managed to remove her hands from his neck and place her in the first bodyguard's hands. He went back to the car to get her luggage and her handbag and he handed them to the other bodyguard. "I'll take my leave now." The stranger added, giving no room for further questions. He waltzed out of their presence and zoomed out of the mansion. The bodyguards went straight into the mansion. One had Pamela in his hands while the other was with the bag and luggage. He touched the security bell to announce his presence. The moment Pamela's mum saw her daughter through the camera, she scampered out of the foreroom, asking a thousand and one questions from the bodyguard. "What happened to Pamela? Why is she unconscious? Where is Greg? Peter? What is wrong?" "She was brought by a stranger home. He mentioned that she mistook him for her driver and, having no choice, he had to bring her to the mansion. She collapsed in the backseat a few minutes after he started driving her here." Greg said, answering as much as the information given him by the stranger would answer. "My poor baby. Where is the stranger who brought her? I want to see the person." She said. "He'd left already, ma'am," Peter said with his head bowed down. Pamela's mother ordered Greg to take her to her room upstairs while she ordered Peter to take her luggage and bag into the room. Pamela's mum followed them upstairs and tucked the sheets around her. She sat beside Pamela, looking at her with endearment. She took her hands in hers and gave her a quick and light kiss on her forehead. She'd missed her baby. Living without Pamela had been very hard for her mother. All through the six years that Pamela was away studying in Texas, United States of America, she'd ensured that she spoke to her at least twice a week. She'd hoped that her daughter had moved on. She'd hoped that six years would be a long time to heal her hurt. She could not bear seeing her in pain. It hurt her to see her in a broken state. "Steve... Steve... "Steve...Don't... Don't leave me. Stay with me." Pamela said softly, causing her mother to freeze. In the next moment, Pamela yelled, tears trailing down her cheeks, "Don't touch me. Get away from me! I don't want to see you." Her mother held her shoulders in a tight grip, calling out her name to no avail. "Let me go. Take your filthy hands off me. Don't touch me!" She screamed, flailing her arms in the air and fighting with all her strength. "Pamela!!!!!" Her mother screamed, causing Pamela to jolt back to reality. She abruptly raised her body, maintaining a sitting position, while breathing heavily. Her mother rubbed her hands along her arms. "It's me, Pamela. It's just mummy." She said, hushing her, hugging her as Pamela snuggled in her chest. "It was just a nightmare. It's nothing more than that. You have nothing to be afraid of." She added, rubbing her back with her palm and giving her light kisses on her head. Pamela hated appearing so vulnerable to her mother. She hated it when her mother treated her like a child. This time, however, she was happy that her mother was right there comforting her. She was happy that she was back home. How she'd missed this. How she'd missed her mother's unrestrained love, care and affection. How she'd missed the hugs... She simply stayed in her mother's arms like that, enjoying the moment while it lasted. It's been about thirty minutes since her mum left her room. She'd been hesitant to leave her at first but Pamela had assured her that she would be alright by herself. She undressed and sat in her bathtub, her mind clouded with the events of the day. She suddenly remembered that she wasn't awake when she arrived home. Then, everything came back in a flash. She remembered waiting at the airport, her mother's call, and right, the driver. She remembered that she had taken out her frustration on him. That did not still deny the fact that he needed to be fired, because he stood her up. It was his duty to ensure that she got home safely. She was glad at least that he did the job well. As she lay in her bathtub, she suddenly remembered faintly that she had clutched her arm at someone's neck. It couldn't have been the driver. She thought embarrassment and disgust etched in her face. She tried to take the unpleasing memory off her mind by relaxing in the tub. Moments later, she was out of her room. She'd just been invited to dinner by one of the maids. She was the first to get to the dining room. The table was set with various kinds of food, like cheesecake, waffles, French fries and grilled chicken, scrambled eggs, pasta, toasts, sausages, chicken burger and other delicacies. The tantalising smell of food filled the air, causing Pamela's stomach to rumble. How she'd missed homemade delicacies. When she spotted her favourite - french fries and grilled chicken, she took in the aroma, closing her eyes. Her parents walked in just then. The moment she saw her father, she walked up to him, giving him a very tight hug. It's been six full years since she'd seen him. How she'd missed him. She'd always been a daddy's girl. Growing up, she'd always found it strange when someone mentioned that they were not close to their father. This was because she and her father did a whole lot of things together while she was growing up. "Princess, I've missed you so much." He said, kissing her hair and holding her in an embrace. They stayed in that position for some seconds before her father finally let go. "So, have I." She added, showing her perfect white teeth.
