Chapter 6: The need to find you Part 2

1012 Words
Cole P.O.V As we left the office shared by the triplets, we all heaved a collective sigh and walked away with our heads bowed in shame. It had been a long day of labor, and we were feeling particularly discouraged. After disengaging himself from the rest of us, Jason made his way to their room, where Jennifer was patiently waiting for them to arrive. I could understand why she was so grumpy most of the time because she was required to stay in bed because her belly was so large because she was pregnant. I couldn't even begin to fathom what it must be like to be confined to a single room for the entirety of the day and to be unable to do anything other than lie in bed the entire time. I was able to hear Jennifer's voice, although it was difficult to make out due to the door being closed. Jason entered the room. "Finally, someone who understands," she said, her voice tinged with exasperation and the weariness that comes from being overworked. Jason made his way over to her room, sat down, and immediately took her hand in his. "I know it's tough, Jen," he said, his voice gentle and reassuring. "I've been there." "But know that all of us are here for you. We are going to do everything in our power to make this process simpler for you. Jennifer turned her head to look at him, and her eyes began to well up with tears. "Thank you," she said, barely raising her voice above a whisper. "I really appreciate it." "I just don't know what I would do without you guys." As we walked outside, Mrs. Marshal, who was in charge of planning the event, rushed over to speak with us. I shook my head. She was an unstoppable force who instantaneously gave orders to everything and everyone in the room, both left and right. I'm ashamed to say it, but I found her to be quite intimidating. She gave me a headband that had rainbows and clouds on it, and I immediately realized that there was no point in arguing with her. After she gave me one look of disapproval, the headband quickly and securely fastened itself to the crown of my head. I couldn't help but feel a little self-conscious as Jarrod burst out laughing, which made me feel even worse. But I also knew that because he was going to be a father for the second time, he was going to be in for a lot more than I was going to be. I did my best to keep up with Mrs. Marshal's orders as she continued to bark them out. As I had anticipated, Jason's mother approached him while holding a set of fairy wings in her hands as she walked over to him. As she attached the pink and purple wings to his back, transforming him into what appeared to be a real-life fairy, I couldn't help but laugh out loud. Soon after, John's wings appeared, and at that point, both of them just stood there staring at each other with horrified expressions on their faces. I couldn't help but laugh at the amusing scene, and I couldn't help but take a few pictures to memorialize the occasion. When their mother came over, she was holding three crowns, as if things couldn't get any funnier than they already were. She gave each of them the appearance of royalty by placing a crown atop their respective heads. The very sight of it made me chuckle, and I couldn't help myself. I was aware that they were acting ridiculously for the purpose of their sister's baby shower, despite the fact that I thought they looked ridiculous. "Excellent job!" The reigning monarchs of all of Fairyland! As I walked past Jason and John on my way to Rick, who needed assistance setting up one of the tents, I made fun of them. Rick needed my assistance. I couldn't help but poke fun at them when I saw them walking around with fairy wings and crowns on because it was such a hilarious sight. Soon after, Jennifer was able to make it out of the packhouse with the assistance of Jason, who helped her down the stairs. I could tell that she was in some amount of discomfort as she walked. On the other hand, whenever one of the triplets offered to carry her around, she consistently declined the offer. It would appear that she had the sensation of being a whale and refused any assistance offered by one of the fishermen. Even though she was very pregnant, she still maintained an admirable level of strength and resolve, which I couldn't help but admire. When I got closer to Rick, I could see that he was having a hard time setting up the tent poles. I was quick to offer my assistance, and the two of us were able to successfully erect the tent together. Although it was a lot of work, it was well worth it to see the happy expression on Jennifer's face as she took in all of the decorations for the party. I continued to look around and search the crowd for any indication that Domonique was present. It had been a considerable amount of time since she had been seen, and I was beginning to get concerned. The devil knows where she could be. She was nowhere to be found, despite the fact that we needed all hands on deck in order to set up for the baby shower. I couldn't help but feel angry and helpless at the same time. Even though all of us were putting in a lot of effort to make this day memorable for Jennifer, it seemed as though Domonique was uninterested. I was aware of the fact that she had a propensity to get distracted and do her own thing, but this matter required her attention. If she didn't show up soon, she would have missed out on everything fun that was going on.
