The engagement banquet was basically a success.
Music cascaded through the entire hall, the violins and cellos creating a delicate sound that was enticing to the ears. Chandeliers hung above us like a cluster of bright stars, their lights reflecting on the marble floors. Nobles and important figures filled every part with the hall, their expensive silk and suits brushing against one another as they moved together like a school of fish.
The entire place was buzzing with life and I hated every second of it.
