Uarian is a federal republic modeled after the United States with executive power exercised by the president. The government of Uarian model in the composition and management of the upper and lower house of a bicameral legislature. However, despite the perfection of the said system, corruption and mismanagement seemed to mock the early heroes who died for the country's amalgamation and those who laid down their life for the birth of democracy. Forms of corruption vary, yet all existed in Uarian - bribery, exhorting, cronyism, nepotism, patronage, graft, and embezzlement. This had facilitated criminal enterprises such as drug trafficking, money laundering, and human trafficking, Child labor, and prostitution. The leaders are busy using government power for their selfish purposes, repressing political opponents, and the use of general police brutality. The country's wealth withered with little to show. Leaving an average Uarian in hunger and sickness. One of the gone heroes once symbolizes Uarian as a cow held and milked by the strongest, the most cunning, and the fortunate. Ninety-five percentages of Uarian citizens are leaving below a dollar in a day while the remaining five percent are in control of the nation's wealth. No security for the property and life of Uarian. Even those men in uniform who are supposed to protect the citizen are the ones murdering them in broad daylight. No basic amenities like drinkable water, good road, health care, and many more. The working population of Uarian citizens has no employment opportunities while those employed are underemployed. The youth were neglected, putting the future of the state in jeopardy as most of them have turned to internet fraudsters while others engaged in different shameful acts just to eat their daily bread. Yet billions of dollars were reportedly looted by politicians, collected back to be stolen by those who regained it. Those in power keep getting richer, having offshore accounts and buying houses both in Uarian and overseas. The worst is the latest insurgence of the Boko-haram, attacking, bombing and kidnapping. Since 2010, the sect Boko-haram had been blamed for many of the attacks on residents of northern Uarian and the federal capital territory, shooting and bombing innocent citizens in cold blood. Calculated terrorism, planned chaos. Terrorism has a singular goal. What? killing innocent people? No. Death is only a by-product of terrorism. Show of strength? No. A weaker persuasion does not exist. To cause terror? Aye. Concisely put, quite simple. The goal of a terrorist is to cause terror and fear, to weaken the enemies from within. Terrorism is not an expression of rage but a political weapon. Remove a government power of infallibility and you have removed the people's faith in him. Who are the Boko-haram and what did they want? Before colonization and subsequent annexation into the British empire, the Bornu empire rules the territory where Boko-haram is currently disturbing. Both the Bornu sultanate and the Fulani caliphate of Usman Dan folio came under British power. During this period, Christian missionaries used Western education as a tool for evangelism leading to secular education being viewed with suspicion by many in the local population. Increased dissatisfaction gave rise to many fundamentalists among the Kanuri and the northern people in general. In 1996 a group was formed with Malam Lawal as the leader, who later left to continue his education, Mohammed took over leadership of the group and allegedly opened the group to political influence and popularity. In July 2009, the media reported that hundreds of bodies were found beside the police headquarters in Maiduguri. While thousands left their homes and hundreds were left homeless while escaping from the violence that has erupted in the once quiet and peaceful town. A jailbreak was reported and thousands of prisoners were set free, some were later apprehended while the majority remained on the wanted list. In the same July, more than fifty people were killed while several were injured when a firefight erupted as a police station was attacked by seventy members of the Bokoharam sect members, armed to teeth with grenades and guns. Many soldiers and Bokoharam members lost their lives in the attack that erupted when the police detain the leaders of the sect. The neighborhood, where the group was entrenched, was later searched and many were arrested. On July 28, Uarian soldiers reportedly launched an offensive on the compound of the sect leader, Mohammed Yusuf, and a nearby mosque used by his followers. The inside of the mosque was raked with machine gunfire. The House of Mohammed Yusuf was shelled when his followers barricaded themselves inside. Mohammed has reportedly escaped the soldiers. A few months later, Yusuf the leader of the sect was captured by the military and handed over to the police at their headquarters in Maiduguri. He was executed inside a compound in full view of public onlookers and the video got viral contradicting the police claimed that he was shot while trying to escape, and he died from the wounds sustained. Other members of the sect were executed and it was rumored Yusuf's father-inlaw is among them. On August 2, a group of women and children abducted by the Bokoharam sect were found locked up in a basement in a house in Maiduguri. The frail-looking people were taken to the hospital. Many of them died from hunger and shocks, while the living ones will remain traumatized forever. Seven hundred and eighty bodies were taken off the street by the members of the Red Cross a few days later. They were buried in a mass grave. A new leader was reported to have taken over. The shy bookish Mohammed Shakau had recruited people for future jihad to fight the state. This includes members who came from neighboring countries. Critics claimed the Boko-haram reflects the darker side of the religious message of Islam, while many argued it was fueled by disenfranchisement and inequality. The third set of critics believed the group engaged in class warfare portrayed in government propaganda as terrorists to win counter-terrorism assistance. No matter the course of explanation we accept or reject, the fact remains that Boko-haram has come to stay in Uarian.
