Merry was very excited by her pregnancy. Her marriage life was hard at first because her mother in law used to call her names and insult her. In short her mother in law didn't like her at all.
She would always cry but Alpheos her husband was always on her side and comforted her. Atlast he couldn't take it anymore because his mother became more and arrogant and always insult his wife. That is why he bought the house for his wife in town. It was four bedroom, one dinning room and one lounge, and a kitchen. Each bedroom has bathroom and toilet. Even though it was not very big but they were very satisfied. Outside in the yard there is a parking lot. He couldn't stand his mother's abusive behavior at all. Today they are going for a check up. Ever since she woke up, she was humming a song that we couldn't even hear. Only herself knew it. She was full of smiles.
"Mmh someone is in the good mood." Alpheos said while hugging her on back.
"Yeah of course I am in the good mood."
Replied with a smile, she was combing her hair infront of a mirror.
"May I ask you why?"His heart softened whenever he sees his wife's smile.
"How can I not be happy when I am with my loving husband who is so handsome." She turn to him and hold his waist.
"Wooow she is flattering me. Hahaha I didn't know I was that handsome. All I know is that my wife is more beautiful. No woman can be compared to you my love."
"Ncoooh I LOVE YOU HUBBY."
" I LOVE YOU MORE WIFEY."Now go get ready before I got tempted. I can't wait to hear my baby's heartbit.
"Hahaha munchie you are too bad. Are you hoping it's a boy?"
"I am hoping it's a girl. Daddy's litle princess. Mmh I can imagine she would be gorgeous as her mom."
"Hahaha lier! I am hoping it's a boy."
"Woooow Mrs me! That's the first time I hear woman hoping to give birth to a baby boy."
" Yeah I am even surprised by myself either. But I have this feeling and I hope he will look like his dad and he will be strong like you my love." She couldn't forget to praise her husband.
"Okay okay whatever gender the baby is. She or he is still our precious baby and we will love and adore it. I am one hundred percent sure that it will be beautiful."
They both got ready and went to a hospital. They started at the reception for registrations and payments after that they went straight to doctor office because there was no one on the cue.
"Hello Mr and Mrs. I am doctor Shale. How can I help you today?" Said the doctor with a smile.
" Hello doctor I am Merry Zuh and this is Alphoes Zuh my husband. We are here for the check up. I took a pregnancy test at home a few days ago and it was positive. So we here for confirmation." Said Mery nervously.
"Okay mam. Firstly we gonna start by checking your urine and then go to scan. Please go to a wash room, use the glass on the basin and come back with a sample of your urine so we can test."
" Okay."
When she got up Alpheous also got up. The doctor was stunned. Merry's face turned red because of embarrassment.
" Baby you don't have to go with me. I will be okay."
"Oh my dear wife don't you want me to accompany you anymore?" Alphoes pretended to be wronged.
"Not really. Please stay here I'll come back."
"Are you sure you gonna be okay alone there."
He was still holding her hands.
"Yes my love I'll be fine."
"Okay."
He let go of her hands even though he was reluctant to let her go alone.
Merry went to washroom and came back with a sample.
"Thank you Mam please hold it for me. He than took out the pregnancy test tube and put it inside the glass with urine and took it out again.
" Please go and pour it on the toilet and put the glass in the backet that is on the left side near the sink".
Merry did what the doctor said to her and come back.
"Yeah this test here is positive and this proves that you are indeed pregnant. Congratulations." The doctor looked at them with smile.
"Thank you doc.
"Right now we gonna have to go to a scan so we can see how far are you. Please come with me. Your husband can also come. There is no problem."
Alpheos was very happy to hear that.
"Thank you Doc. "
They both went with the doctor in another room. There was only one bed and the Ultrasound.
"Please open your stomach for me. I'll pour this jellylike substance so we can see the baby."
Merry lay down on bed with her back. She took off her shirt and wait for the doctor.
The doctor put a cold jellylike onto her lower abdomen and put the mouse. He moved it slow.
"There you go..let's meet your child to....there you go....woow do you see this?" She pointed on the screen.
"Yes doc. Is that our baby?"
"Yes its your baby even though it's still a fetus. It's growing healthy. You are 12 weeks pregnant. "
As he was speaking to them, he was still moving the mouse.
Alpheos was so emotional in such a way tears were flowing on his cheek's. Merry was the same. She remembered her mother in law's insults.
" Merry come here I want to talk to you and don't make me wait for you".
That was her mother in law calling her as if she was a child, leaving no room for her to deny her demand.
" I am here mom, what can I do for you?"
"When are you going to give us grand children? Are you on family planning or are you a barren?"
She was looking at her as if she was a trash. Merry open her eyes wide, she didn't expect that her mother in law would be so insensitive. Having a child is a blessing from God.
" We are still trying Mom. We even did the check up both of us. The doctors said we are fine."
Merry was on the verge of crying. This mother in law is not very fond of her.
"You must give birth soon, Alpheos can't keep on feeding you for free you worthless woman. You not worthy my son's love. I don't even know what he saw on you." Said old Mrs Zuh with a disgusted look.
"............................ "( she played with her hands trying so hard to hold the tears)
" Mrs Zuh are you not feeling well! Why are you crying?" Asked the doctor with a concerned look. Merry came back to senses.
" I am fine doctor. These are tears of joy. It's been a long time we've been trying for a baby and now God has blessed us."
"I hear you but I must advice you. You must avoid being emotional so you can protect your fetus. Stress or being emotional may affect your pregnancy that could lead into miscarriage."
Merry got scared.
" I will try my best doctor."
After that doctor pointed to a heart and they both felt the heart bit.
"Du-du-du-du-du" that was a strong heart bit for the baby. The couple saw this miracle and they were both stunned and very happy. They were smiling but tears were flowing on their faces.
"That's your baby's heartbit. It's normal and everything is okay. You should come back for a check up every three weeks. I'll prescribe some medication for you. Put on your clothes and go back to a first room. I'll wait for you."
She took the paper tissue and wipe the jellylike . Merry put on her clothes with the help of Alpheos then follow the doctor.
"Here you go Madam.You must eat healthy food like fruits and veggies, Dont eat greasy food or spicy food."
She gave her the medication and the instructions on how to take it.
",Thank you so much doctor, we will see you in three weeks."
" My pleasure, Please take care of yourselves and don't be hard on your intercorse. The first three months of pregnancy are very sensitive and important. I can see you love your wife very much Mr Zuh."
"Thanx doc". Alpheos nodded with embarrassment. Why did the doctor mention this. Did she think he was stupid?
They both noded and left. Alphoes took Merry into a nearby restaurant to treat her for a meal. Merry was touched.
" Today i cant describe my joy. I love you my wife and thank you so much for the gift. I will try my best to treat you well in future"
Said Alpheos as he was holding both her hands.
"Thank you for not giving up on me and our love. I pray for the safety of our baby until we meet him." Merry was moved again by her husband confection.
"We will meet daddy's princess soon."
Alphoes was smiling brightly. Even a child could see that he was very happy. He had good facial features especially when he was smiling.
" ..............."
"We have to buy a car now. Is that okay momy?" He said with a baby voice. Merry bust into laughter.
"Yes daddy, it's been long overdue and you almost died because there was no transport." Merry got scared whenever she think what happened to Alpheos.
" Excuse me sir, my name is Sarah I would be your waiter today.. would you like to order something..here is the menu. We have milkshakes on special". The waiter was a young lady with good manners.
"Hello.. my lovely wife hasn't decided on what she is going eat. We will call you, let's check the menu first. Alphoes noded to a waiter coldly."
" That was awkward babe but what's up with an attitude?" Even though Merry asked him but deep down she was very happy. Her husband always make it clear to the beauties that he is taken.
" What are we going to eat?"
" We will order some veggies and one of your favorite beef stew and milk shakes but it's your last time having one." Alpheos said firmly.
"You are stingy Mr me."
Merry pouted.
"Doctor's orders remember! Huh Mrs me." He looked at her with doting smile.
They called the waiter and placed their orders. After few minutes the waiter served them
" Enjoy your meal sir and madam.
They enjoyed their meal. They didn't know whether it was food that was nice or the news of their pregnancy but they really enjoyed it very much.
