Reid's voice cut through the tension like a blade, snapping Myra out of her panic. He rushed in and shoved her aside, hard. I saw the way she stumbled backward, her eyes wide with alarm. My chest was burning like it had caught fire from the inside out, but seeing her fall like that... it sparked something else in me. I didn’t like it. Not one bit.
"Alpha, are you okay?" Reid asked, catching me before I collapsed entirely.
I didn’t answer. I couldn't. Not because of the pain, but because the second Myra disappeared from the room, the pain... stopped.
Just like that.
Gone.
