Eternal Shadows

"Sweetheart, wake up its time for school." My father's voice rang loud in my ears. I woke up to find my father opening my door. "Oh good your awake. You need to get ready." And with that he disappeared out the door. I look around and realized this was all just a memory, a nightmare of the day he died. I was getting dressed when my actual alarm went off. I sat up in bed, drenched in sweat. Every night it was the same. Replaying the day my father died. "Ugh..I wish it would stop..what time is it?" I looked at the screaming alarm clock. Five in the morning. I got out of my bed, went to the shower. Turning the hot water on, I got undressed and took a shower. The hot water helping with my drowsiness. After showering, I went to my closet to pick out my work outfit. Today, they said I could go business casual which always was my favorite day. I chose a white button up shirt, my favorite black jeans that hugged me just right and my combat boots that I hardly got to wear. I made myself two eggs, a slice of toast and coffee. I downed my coffee and eggs but took my toast to go. I turn and yell, "I will be back for dinner mom! I love you!" my mom, walks to the stairs from upstairs, "okay sweetie, be safe." She smiles but her eyes were distant. I knew she had other plans for the day but something about the look in her eyes always made me feel nervous to ask what she was doing. I shook the feeling of the unease before stepping out the door. I walk to my car and open the door. Getting in, I start the car finishing my slice of toast. Starting up some music, I back out and drive off to work. In a city that I barely knew, I did not feel very welcome here but I had to deal with that in order to keep an eye on my mother and keep income coming in. A text from my phone tore me from my song. "play text." the car chimes, "I have a proposal for you when you come home for dinner. drive safely, mom". As I was pulling up to the building, another chime came through, "play text. Where are you? your late. from boss, reply?" I turn the car off and lay my head on the steering wheel. "reply, outside just pulled up sir. send" I got out grabbed my brief purse and keys. I lock my car and quickly head inside. Clocking in, my coworker spoke up, "the boss is livid today so be careful." I nod before heading in. I bow out of respect and Xander Kain turns around. When I say he is drop dead gorgeous, I mean his stare could kill a woman if he tried. He always had his hair nicely cut, his suits never looked like they had wrinkles and his shoes always shining. Not a inch of him was imperfect. Every time he said my name, my heart would do a flutter. "Ms. Belle, your late again. Care to explain?" He eyed me with his icey blue stare. I bow, "im sorry sir please forgive me. I have not been sleeping well." Xander's icey blue eyes softened a bit as she had stated that she wasnt feeling well. He fixes his sleeve. "Probably should have that looked at Ms. Belle." he paused before saying, "i need you to run a errand. I need a...a new suit. pick it up from my usual spot." I nod my head and take notes down. "yes sir. the company card right?" I look back at him waiting for answer. I fidget a bit as he was looking out the window. his stare distant. "yes and get yourself a luxurious lunch as well. I have a client arriving soon and ill be busy for a few hours.." He tenses up as he sees the black car pull up. His hands balling up in fists. "I need you to leave now." I bow and quickly leave his office as asked. My heart hammering in my chest as the weight of his emotions and the way he looked mad got to me. Fixing my composure, I head to the elevator and pull my phone out. As I am making a reservation for my favorite restaurant, the elevator door opens. I walk forward without looking up which results in running into someone's chest head first. "I am so sorry.." I look up into the most green eyes I have ever seen. My breath caught in my throat as the male looked at me in awe. I bow and step around him entering the elevator. The male stood there watching her as she left. Memories of the past resurfaced and he turns around heading up to Xander's office doors. He pushed them open, "since when are we keeping secrets, dear brother?" He goes and sits on the black couch in the office. Lounging back and looking Xander. Xander was leaning on his desk, looking at his brother Sebastian Kain with a rather upset look. His hands gripping the hard wood desk. "You leave her alone. This is a reincarnation of herself. She knows not of what we are." Sebastian grins wide, "Oh I know.....but remember what father had said back when she first became corrupt because of both of us loving her?" He lays his head back on the couch. "Do not dare tell our father of her existence! I cannot lose her again because of you!" Xander lunged at Sebastian grabbing him by his throat. "I will protect her at all costs! So stay away from Eve this time." Sebastian chuckled as his brother pinned him against the couch, "Oh trust me, I will be telling father of your little secret when the time comes, dear brother. Why let you be happy and let me suffer?!" his green eyes lit up. Pushing his palms against Xander's chest, he sent him flying across the room. He stood up and adjust his suit. "so threaten me again, and you can kiss your precious Eve goodbye but in a more brutal way this time." Xander stands up and adjusts his suits. "You wont get the chance to get her. May you try but you will not succeed, Sebastian. Now leave!" Sebastian's grin never left his lips, "We will see about that brother. I only came to to tell you of one thing anyways before I found out." he heads to the door, "Father arranged a marriage to save the company to the most wealthy family in the city. The Belle's. I meet with the mother and the daughter tonight. Father gave up trying to contact you about it and asked me instead. Aidos, brother." he laughs and walks out the door. Xander threw his lamp at the door. His chest rising and falling fast with rage. He picks up his phone and dials his father, "Tell the Belle's I will be taking that offer. Sebastian can have the next offer." "Finally coming to your senses. Be ready around 7 pm. The dinner is at 8 pm. Details sent to you in your email. Do not disappoint me, son." Lucian threatens as he hung up. Xander looks out the window and as Sebastian gets to his car, it was visible that he was now the one upset which made a grin appear on Xander's face. "May the best brother win." He began to pick up his office, making it look neat again after having destroyed the office because of his brother taunting him. His mind reals with how to protect her. "Mark my words Sebastian. I will protect her at all costs." He looks out the window.
