“What do we want?” The chant was barely audible through the small crack in the door, but the emotion in the speaker’s voice was clear. “Freedom!” The crowd roared their approval, and Winston Blake, chief of police, winced. “Nice of you to join us, Chief.” Winston looked down the hall of the theater and smiled at the speaker. “Apologies, General. I got caught up in the crowd.” Winston winced again when his hands touched his rain-slicked coat. He ignored the pain and made his way toward the group, letting the door close behind him.
