The time that Agos asked me something that is peculiar, I am not aware that Valour was on my back, and he had heard Agos.
I didn’t notice him not until when he started to whimper. At first, I didn’t thought that it would be Valour because never in my life had I heard him whimpering, or seen him frightened. But this time, I was able to see it.
As I hold Agos who has fainted because he was still weak from the torture he had experienced, I am looking at Valour. And I was worrying about him so much. When I saw him quivering, as if he had seen something terrifying—or perhaps remembered a horror, I decided to call other of the gang.
“Gaston, quick!” I screamed at Gaston. Luckily, they had quickly responded to my call. The remaining Owls had first attended the unconscious Agos because they are too much worried about him. When they came, I quickly ran towards Valour. He was being comforted by Gaston and the Vultures, but he remained shaking. I quickly held him on his shoulders, and with all my force, I let him still and stop shaking. But it wasn’t effective. He was still shaking, and it was drastic.
“Valour, what is happening to you?” I asked. “Valour!”
To no help, he continued shaking and showing a frightened face as his gaze shifted from one place to another. He looked frightened. And terrified.
What could be the reason why Valour was suffering and acting like this? Never in the whole staying of him beside me have I seen that kind of frightened expression on his face. He was always calm and calculated. He was one of the coolest person I have ever met in my life.
But why? How is this happening to him?
“Th—The demon,” he finally said.
When he said ‘demon’, chills ran through my spine. That instant, I already read from his face what is he afraid from. Or to who.
Yet, I think we didn’t need to answer that kind of question anymore. Because it has already revealed itself right in front of us, after Valour telling about it. It had to. Just like Valour, I think I also have the right to feel the terror and scares from what was in our front.
The Demon.
