I turned to Alec who still offered his hand to me, which I accepted. “I guess I get to show you around this place now.” I made to move toward the doors, but he gently pulled me back. I turned to him with a raised eyebrow. “Is something wrong?”
His eyes showed his conflicted thoughts. “I was here for five years?”
I nodded. “Yeah.”
“So, you were without me for that long?”
I shook my head. “No, time moves faster here. It was…well, it was a long year over there.”
He turned his face away and closed his eyes. “Did I take care of you like I promised myself I would?”
