-WINCREST PACKHOUSE-
"Knock, knock"
"Come in", said Harley, "Oh Dr Norris how are you, hey Cassy, what a surprise to have both of you here. How can I help you?"
Dr Norris and Cassy exchanged suspicious looks at each other before leading the way to an isolated room downstairs.
The grand old stairs creaked at each step taken. Cemented walls on each side had glaring orange lamps. Despite the horrific scene, no dainty silken spider webs were in sight.
Harley followed the two in silence. An impenetrable and obscure aura surrounded Cassy, much to everyone's ignorance.
They reached a rusty wooden door that creaked loudly as it opened. Cassy halted abruptly before entering. Her veins flashed on her neck several times for Dr Norris to notice.
"I told Lincoln to replace this door", whispered Cassy under her breath.
Dr Norris only chuckled, "You know he never listens", he said.
Cassy gestured her hand to a small padded swivel chair. They were all seated when Dr Norris began to talk.
"Amareche Mulualem Shawel, do you by any chance remember that name?" asked Dr Norris.
Cassy stared intently at Harley, waiting for her reaction. With numbness in her face, Harley replied in a soft tone, "Yes, I remember her, how could I ever forget her?"
Harley looked at Dr Norris with sparkling eyes and a broad smile. It soon faded from a daunting realization.
"Do you know what she is, or where she currently resides", said Cassy.
"Of course I do, she's a ..." she paused, "Wait, wait, I remember. Why can't I remember?"
Her eyes reddened and tears began falling down her face.
"The reason you can't remember her is that she has been reincarnated, at a great cost, that is, as your emissary", said Dr Norris.
"My guide, what do you mean my guide?" asked Harley.
"Remember when the goddess said she'd send someone to help you on your journey?"
"Yes"
"Well, Amareche has been chosen to take that responsibility".
"Okay, but why her?" said Harley.
"Because she was the closest person to you when you lived as a rogue, you two share an amazing bond", said Cassy. Harley leaned forward and shook her head.
"How do you know about that?" she said.
"Goddess showed me, and I'm really sorry that you went through that", she reached out to Harley and squeezed her hand.
Harley got up from her seat and made her way to the door, "I need some space... to process everything."
She's so intimidating. I can't believe she pretends to be nice and everyone buys it.
-FIVE DAYS LATER-
"So let me get this straight, you told her everything and then that was the last time you saw her?" said Lincoln.
"Precisely", said Dr Norris.
Lincoln clenched his fist while leaning on a table and inhaled heavily. He concentrated deeply on communicating with Harley.
He could hear faint sounds of crying but could not reach Harley. A little girl in a colorful dress lay alone in a snowy forest. Her parents had abandoned her.
-6 YEARS Ago, MEADOW HILLS, SUNSET PACKHOUSE-
"Thank you everyone for accepting Harley here as your beta. I hope we will all work well together and continue to strengthen and train ourselves. Today truly is a wonderful day", he looked at Harley.
"Harley, I couldn't be more proud of you, you have shown immense strength and intelligence. I remember the day you came here as an omega, like it was yesterday. Everybody, cheer for Beta Harley Blake of Sunset pack!"
Everyone howled and cheered for their newly appointed beta Harley. She was embraced by every member of the pack.
"Mac, you're such a show-off, there was absolutely no need for that whole speech", said Harley.
"Why not, you're special", said Mac. He tied his shoulder-length blond hair in a bun and walked towards Harley.
"Special? I'm not royalty".
"Harley", he said as he pulled her in for a bear hug, "I hope you can be happy for yourself someday."
Harley struggled to get herself out of his grip, but she failed. "Cut the crap Mac. I am happy, I don't need to advertise my teeth to show it".
Mac finally let her go, "Alright fine, just do what's best for you kiddo."
"Don't call me that", shouted Harley, to Mac, who was already outside the house.
-NEXT DAY-
"Woah, woah, whoa slow down there, I didn't make you Beta, you could just train harder," said Mac.
"Shut up"
"Hey watch it, I'm still the Alpha here".
He saw tears running down her face and merging with her sweat. He sighed and thought to himself for a few minutes, then he grabbed the punching bag in front of Harley.
"Look, you'll find them someday-
"WHEN!" shouted Harley.
"I don't know but what you're doing right now isn't going to help!"
Harley stripped off her gloves and left the training room. Mac looked up to the ceiling and let his tears flow. He giggled when he thought of Harley.
"That girl will be the death of me".
-PRESENT-DAY-
Harley barged into the room and pounced on Lincoln and wrapped her hands around his neck, strangling him.
"You ever try to go through my mind like that again, and I'll torture you!", she said.
Dr Norris and Cassy struggled to pull her off of Lincoln. Kassidy and Kyle ran to them to help.
"YOU HEAR ME LINCOLN, DO YOU HEAR?"
Kyle coughed a couple of times before he agreed to Harley. Dr Norris and the rest dragged Harley to her room and locked the door.
It was unlocked a few hours after she calmed down and begged for the door to be opened.
"Are you okay now, Ms Blake?", asked Dr Norris. Harley responded by only nodding her head. She went straight to Lincoln and tilted her head.
"Got something to say, Alpha?"
"Yes, uh, I'm really sorry for what I did earlier today. I was just really worried about you and I needed to know if you were alright wherever you were" said Lincoln.
"But you found something else, right?" said Harley.
She smashed her fist into the wall beside her. She had her teeth clenched as she pulled out her hand from the wall.
She turned her back on Lincoln only to see everyone else looking at her. Harley faced Lincoln again, "Don't ever do that, you may be blood to me, but that's where it ends. Understand?"
"Yeah"
"Yeah", she reiterated.
With that, she walked away and disappeared once more.
"Honestly darling, I don't know how you put up with her. She's a wreck. Her emotions are all over the place", said Cassy.
Lincoln looked at her and smiled, "You know she'll come around, I just made a stupid mistake."
'Stupid mistake? Deadly mistake'
Kyle burst into laughter after he heard the exchange between Lincoln and Cassy, "You really think she's gonna 'come around', you have time Linc."
"Whatever man, just don't bother her, she might actually kill you-
"I'd love to see that happen," said Kyle as he clapped his hands.
Lincoln looked at Cassy before Kyle again and shrugged, "You two are very much alike. Who knows, maybe you're meant for each other
"Don't you dare speak such blasphemy in my presence?" said Kyle.
"Like I said, whatever man".
'She's stronger than she looks'
Dr Norris retreated to his room with a heavy heart. The old man never gets a break. He received unexpected news.
A descendent of one of the first werewolf packs, Mulu, contacted him regarding Harley. He meditated on the message as he attempted teleporting to Cruzaexia Temple for insight.
- 2 HOURS LATER-
"You do understand what must be done, right?"
"Yes, I understand. I never thought I'd experience this so early on in my life, but I can't complain if it is the goddess' wishes."
"One more thing, Dameon".
