The pavement ricochets beneath my feet, but I keep running. I run faster, harder like I can outrun my own damn thoughts.
No matter how far I push myself, her face keeps surfacing. The shock in her eyes. The way her fingers gripped into my shirt before she shoved me away. I grind my teeth and push harder, my lungs burning with every ragged breath. It was just a kiss. Just a stupid, impulsive mistake.
