2. New To Town

Nina's POV. "Nina, wake up!" I heard Nevins say as he shook me. "The removal truck will be here in an hour," he added, as I listened to his footsteps heading out of my room. I let out a frustrated groan. I was still feeling exhausted. I have had nightmares I usually have every night for the past ten years. "Nina, I made some breakfast!" Asher yelled from downstairs. I got up and packed my sleeping bag with my other stuff. I put my things in my walk-in robe to make space for all my other stuff that will soon arrive. I walked into my bathroom, washed my face, and headed downstairs to the smell of pancakes. "Hmm, yummy," I said as my stomach growled from the beautiful aroma. "Where did you get the pan and food from?" I asked as I grabbed a few pancakes and started to put butter and pour syrup on them. "I went for a drive this morning and found the supermarket. It opened at eight o'clock, so I waited and bought utensils and ingredients for breakfast," Asher said as he sat down and started eating. "Also, I found a nice café we can go to for lunch after the removal truck gets here," He added as he handed me a coffee cup he bought from the café. "We'll just put everything into the living room and slowly unpack our stuff before we do the rest of the house," Asher looked at us, and we nodded in agreement. "But we'll have to set up the fridge first so that we can go buy some food after we have lunch," he continued to eat his food. About eleven thirty, the front doorbell rang, and Asher went to open it. "Hi, removal for the Casters," a guy said as Asher opened the door. Asher signed the paperwork as Isaac, Nevins, and I began to help the other removal guy grab boxes and take them to the living room. While the boys helped the removal guys with the last of the big heavy stuff, I started to take my stuff up to my room. After unpacking my stuff, the boys took my bed to my room. They finished their rooms, and then we all headed to the café. It was two in the afternoon, and we were hungry after all the lifting and unpacking. We all walked into the café and over to sit in a booth in the back corner. I sat near the window as Asher sat near me, Nevins sat across from me, and Isaac beside him. "Hi, your back, and you brought your family with you," an older woman in her forties said, looking at Asher while looking around at us with a big smile. "Yes, these are my siblings. My brothers Isaac, Nevins, and our baby sister Nina." He said as I read her name tag, which read Sarah. "It's nice to see new faces in town and, of course, in the café," Sarah said with a big smile. "So, what can I get you all?" Sarah asked as we gave her our order. "I need to go to the bathroom," I said after Sarah left. I got up, walked into the bathroom at the back of the café, and quickly did my business. As I came out, I looked at my reflection in the mirror and heard the toilet door open. Still looking in the mirror as I washed my hands, I saw a hot guy walk in. At first, I thought I saw things from lack of sleep. Then he stopped when he saw me staring at him. "Umm?" I started to say, "I think you are in the wrong bathroom." I finished as I got myself together. I was distracted by his hotness. "Yeah, I don't know if you saw the urinals over there," he said as he pointed to my left, and I turned to see in the direction he pointed. My face went red; well, thanks to my light brown skin, it didn't show. "OH MY GOODNESS! I didn't realize that I had walked into…." I felt too embarrassed to say anything else since I had just walked into the boy's toilet without noticing. I looked from the urinals and back to the hot guy, and he was laughing. Another hot guy walked in when I thought it couldn't get any worse. "Hey, Sam, why are you taking so long? You want me to..." He stopped talking as she saw me. "Oh, who's this?" the guy asked, looking from me to Sam while flashing a flirtatious smile. The guy that first walked in chuckled, "It's okay, I'm Sam, and this is my friend Ryan. You look tired, which is why I'm guessing you ended up in the boy's toilet?" he said in between laughs. "Oh, I'm so sorry! I didn't realize that I had walked into the boy's toilet. I'm Nina, by the way; I'm new to town," I replied awkwardly. "Well, Nina, I guess that's another reason you got lost in the boy's toilet. Plus, I hadn't seen you in town before either," Sam said, while Ryan nodded. "Quite too beautiful too, if I might add," Ryan said as he shook my hands. As he did, it caused me to blush, and Sam gave Ryan an elbow to his stomach for being flirtatious. "Oh well, thank you for the compliment." I didn't know what to say. I had two hot boys smiling at me in the boy's toilet. "Um, well, I better get going. My brothers are outside, and they are probably wondering where I am. Plus, lunch is probably ready by now." I said as I said bye, and walked out of the toilets. I quickly returned to my table and saw all my brothers were already eating. I didn't want Asher to move, so I sat beside him. "What took you so long?" Isaac said as I sat down to start eating. "The line was a bit long." I lied; I never lied to my brothers. But I don't think I could tell them I accidentally ended up in the boy's toilet. I was not going to tell them that or how two hot boys walked in too. I would never hear the end of it. As we all finished lunch, Asher gave me the cash to pay while my brothers headed to the car. As I turned around from the counter after paying for our lunch, I saw Ryan standing behind me with a grin. I started to feel embarrassed again at the memory. "So, if you're new in town, will you start at Willows high school tomorrow?" he said. "Yeah," I replied, still feeling embarrassed. "Okay, well, we are in grade eleven," he said. "Me too," I interrupted. "Great, you're welcome to hang out with us tomorrow. I'll come to find you in the morning and show you around," Ryan was still smiling. "Oh, and here is my number in case you get lost at the school, too." he finished while he chuckled and handed me a napkin with his number written on it. I nodded at him as he walked away back to his group of friends. I walked out of the diner and jumped in the car. "So, who was that? And why were you talking to a boy?" I heard Isaac say as he turned to look at me with raised eyebrows. As you would say, Isaac was a man w***e of the family, and he didn't like me talking or being around boys. Asher and Nevins didn't mind, though, considering I grew up with boys. I got the s*x talk from Asher when I was thirteen, which was hard for him. He was very uncomfortable with it but got used to it over time. Although you could tell, he is still uneasy on the subject, especially with me. Asher had to become a mother figure to us all, mostly when I first came into womanhood. Nevins and I talked about girls and guys all the time but only to give each other advice. "Just a new friend I made. He goes to Willows High and is in the same grade as me. He offered to show me around tomorrow," I answered, hoping he didn't get the wrong idea. "Well, he better not try anything," Isaac said. "Nevins makes sure she doesn't get herself a boyfriend on the first day," he added while looking at Nevins, who nodded his head. "You know I get along with boys better," I said honestly; all my brothers knew that very well. Growing up with my brothers has made me get along with boys better than girls. Plus, it's not like I haven't had a boyfriend before. However, all my brothers got overprotective when I had a boyfriend three cities ago. Isaac was the main one of all my brothers that did not like it. Plus, we never stayed long enough for me to have a serious relationship with that guy. "Okay, I believe you, for now," Isaac said, clearly not feeling confident in my words. We pulled up at the supermarket and did our grocery shopping. It didn't take long before we had done with our food shopping. "Here is the card," Asher said to me as we walked towards the exit of the supermarket. I looked at him confused, "If you need to get anything that you need, I suggest you do it now." He was clearly uncomfortable, he only ever got like that if it involved something to do with female stuff. I scanned my surroundings and noticed we were standing in front of a chemist. I grabbed the card and walked into the shop. "We will wait for you in the car." Asher continued to push the shopping trolley out of the exit. As I turned to go to get some feminine stuff, Isaac stood beside me. I looked at him and he had his head on his phone. I cleared my throat so he knew I was trying to get his attention. "I'm going to accompany you to the chemist." He spoke without looking at me. "You don’t have to do that," I replied. He looked up at me and put his phone in his pocket. "I'll just wait near the checkout." He shrugged his shoulders. I decided not to bother with convincing him to leave, so I walked in. I collected the items I knew I was running low on and just as I was about to make my way to the counter, I saw my brother talking to a girl. She had honey blond hair and brown eyes, she was smiling at my brother. "Lucy." the girl said her name. "Isaac, I'm new to town." He replied and grinned at her as he scanned her body. I was all too familiar with my brother and his flirtatious ways. "In that case, I can show you around." The girl named Lucy said as she eyed my brother from head to toe. "You know, you are way too beautiful to be single." My brother said, and I wished that I hadn’t even bothered to hear the whole conversation. "I just broke up with my ex." The girl said in a very happy tone. "Their loss," my brother added. I walked over to the counter and paid for my things. I turned and I saw that the girl and my brother had exchanged phones. I knew that they were putting each other's phone numbers. "You ready to leave?" I asked Isaac, not caring that I was interrupting his conversation. The girl glared at me. "Yes, um Lucy, this is my little sister, Nina." My brother said and the girl's glare turned into a smile so fast. "Oh, nice to meet you, Nina." She said in a sweet tone. I just gave her a smile and shook her hand as she reached out a hand. "Well, we better go," Isaac said. "See you around... Lucy." He smiled at her before we walked away. "Is this thing going to be serious?" I asked my brother. he scoffed, "Of course not. She was glaring at you, so I had to let her know you are my sister." He said as we opened the car door. . . . . Once we returned home and unpacked our shopping in the fridge and cupboards. We set up the dining and lounge before ordering pizza for dinner. "Alright, time for bed. Get up early so I can drop you two off at school before Isaac and I start work. Unless you both want to walk or catch the school bus." Asher said to Nevins and me as we finished up the last of the dishes. I walked up the stairs to my room and jumped on my bed. As I lay down on my bed, I grabbed the napkin with Ryan's number and pulled out my phone. Me: Hey Ryan, it's Nina. See you at school tomorrow? I sent a text with a smiley emoji. Ryan: Thanks; I thought you wouldn't text me. I'll save your number and see you tomorrow. Ryan added a separate text with a thumbs-up emoji. I placed my phone on the bedside table beside my bed and fell asleep. I am excited about school tomorrow as I have made a friend already.
