Opening Scene
The rain hammered against the bulletproof windows of the black suv but Orion barely noticed. His dark eyes were locked on the screen infront of him a live feed of a burning buliding across the city. The flames were fierce consuming everything in their path. The people trapped inside weren't his concern atleast not officially. His job was to recover the target before the fire department arrived. "three minutes" the voice in his earpiece said, "plenty time" Orion replied coldly. The suv came to a stop outside the blase. He stepped out his tailored coat catching the wind as the heat from the fire hit him. His team moved like shadows slipping past the police. Orion followed his steps unhurried yet commanding. Inside the inferno smoke filled the air but Orion didn't flinch. His eyes scanned the chaos until the locked onto a small black case hidden beneath a collapsed beam. He didn't need to open it to know what it contained an artifact that could destroy everything, if it fell into the wrong hands. "got it" one of his men said lifting the case. "good now leave the area" Orion orderd. He turned to leave but his steps faltered for a split second. Through the smoke and flames he saw her, not here not now. Serena. The thought of her hit him like a punch to the gut. "Orion move" his guard shouted. He pushed his thought side and walked out the fire reflecting in his dark eyes. He didn't have time for distractions not when the world demanded so much from him. Even as the door slammed shut behind him he couldn't shake the feeling that everything was about to change. Returning to his office the weight of it lingered in the air like a storm waiting to break. He stood at the edge of the office window the skyline stretching endlessly before him. Yet the sight did little to calm the unease swirling in his chest. Orion wasn't a man prone to doubt but tonight felt different. The world he built, the control he prided himself on, seemed to shift subtly like sand slipping through his fingers. He pressed his palm against the cold glass the city pulse thrumming beneath it. The unknown gnawed at him a rare sensation that both loathed and welcomed. Orion was afraid of change, he thrived on it. Manipulated it to suit his purposes. But this.... This felt personal. A shadow of destiny creeping closer. The faint buzz of his phone pulled him from his thoughts. He turned the soft glow of his desk lamp casting long shadows across the room. Picking up the device he saw the message. "she's closer than you think be ready" Orion brow furrowed as he stated at the words. His thumbs hovered over the screen. Itching to demand answers but he knew better. Whoever she was whoever this warning referred to he'd find out soon enough. Patience was a virtue he'd mastured over the years but tonight it tested him. It tested him to a breaking point. His grip tighten until the phone cracked the screen splintering beneath his fingers. A moment later with a sharp snap the phone crumble into pieces in his hand. He exhaled slowly his jaw tightening as he fought to quell the storm buliding inside him. Before he could move the sound of the door opening broke the tense silence four of his bodyguards entered their movements precise and displine. There presence alone Was alone to convey there were high alert. Leon stepped forward his sharp eyes flicked to the broken phone in Orions hand then back to his face. "trouble sir?" he asked his voice calm but laced with an edge of readiness. Orion looked at him his shoulders relaxing slightly. "not yet" he replied he's voice low and measured. He wiped the remnants of the phone from his hand the fragments falling to the floor. "but it's coming." The men exchange glances, they worked with Orion long enough to know that when he spokes like this it's a warning. Leon nodded once "we'll increase security" Orion shake his head "no. I dont want her running off" his lips curled into a dark knowing smile. "she'll come to me. And when she does I'll be ready." The guards didn't question him. With a brief nod they turned to leave, their boots echoing against the marble floor. He watched as they leave his mind already racing with possibilities. Whoever she was, whatsoever she wanted he wouldn't let her slip through his grip. The world outside his window seemed both vast and suffocating as if the very universe was closing in on him. The cryptic message the warning - it wasn't just a coincidence someone wanted him off balanced. His thoughts flicked to the past to countless enemies he'd made in his climb to power. rivals, betrayed allies, ghosts of a life he had buried. Yet this felt different. This wasn't a threat to his empire or his reputation. This is personal. A sharp knock at the door interrupted his thoughts. Leon stepped back in. "we've swept the buliding nothing out of the ordinary. " "keep it that way. I want to know the moment something feels wrong." Leon hesitated his eyes studying Orion. "sir if this is about her...." "it is" oriin interrupted "and I'll handle it. Just do your job." Leon gave a curt nod and retreated once more, leaving Orion alone in the silence of his office. Alone, but never unguarded.
