Chapter 98: Incident On The Trip I

Rekka entered the village of Riverchrest. It was a small, but beautiful village. Rekka walked through the small town, looking around. He thought the place looked familiar, but couldn’t get a hold of where he saw it.

-Students, please gather around. – Said the teacher. Kids quickly ran to him – We will be spending our night here today. You can look around freely, but don’t pass the city grounds. Also, one citizen generously accepted to tell us a story about an attack that happened many years ago.

The students soon after left in groups. Rekka was alone, but Ren approached him.

-Are you feeling better? – He asked with a smile.

-I am, thanks. – Answered Rekka and stood up.

-Come on, let’s walk around.

The small village was beautiful. A giant river was running through it. Rekka and Ren approached it and sat down next it. Ren noticed Ichika sitting nearby and sneaked on her. The boy tried to scare her, but the girl looked at him in disappointment and punched him to the ground. Rekka burst out laughing.

-You so pathetic! – He continued to giggle.

-Hey! Don’t be so mean! – Shouted Ren in an annoyed voice – And you, woman, could you not act like a brute?

-Who are you calling a brute, huh goblin? – Ichika was irritated.

She stood up and menacingly gazed at him.

-I’m in trouble. – Said Ren and started running away.

Ichika followed him. Rekkas head suddenly started hurting, but he brushed it off. Afternoon came, and the students gathered in the village square. A middle aged woman walked on the stage and waved his hand with a kind smile.

-Hello students of Limasse, I’m Riko. Today, I’m going to talk to you about small story that occurred in this village. It was a beautiful day outside. I was outside with my children, when suddenly, a wild beast with the shape of a human attacked. It tried to feed on my children, but tripped over. I think he couldn’t control himself because of his hunger. After, some unknown humans in cloaks took him away, never to be seen again. Pretty scary story, right. We use it to keep children from going out alone, that a demon will come and eat them. – She giggled.

The students started whispering to each other, spreading rumors. Rekka remembered the incident. The demon was a young him. The face of his dead parent filled his mind. His head was killing him.

-NO, AAH! – He shouted and ran into the forest.

Ren noticed and followed him. Ichika, out of interest, followed as well.

-Rekka, Rekka-sama, where did you go! – Shouted Ren, searching for the lost boy.

-Is he okay? – Asked confused Ichika – He’s been acting weirdly for the whole trip.

-I don’t know, maybe he’s homesick. – Said Ren and made a tired sigh.

Oneiros got bored. Out of nowhere, the two kids felt a burning aura. The air around was getting hot. Ren ducked instantly. Rekka swung his sword, wanting to behead the boy.

-WHAT ARE YOU DOING REKKA!? – Shouted Ren in a mad voice.

Ichika put her guard up.

-He’s being possessed, look at him. – She calmly said.

Rekka had red eyes and his canine teeth were glowing. The air around was nearly burning.

-This isn’t you, Rekka. – Said Ren and backed off – If he’s possessed, he’ll kill me! I have 40.000 PL, a lot lower than his! – He thought.

Rekka was a dead smile. He started slowly moving forwards

-I can feel again. – Said Oneiros with an excited voice – Let’s see if I still got it!

Rekka dashed forwards, pointing his sword. The students jumped each side, but they were bombarded with fireballs. Ren turned on his ability and quickly dodged it, but Ichika just slowly moved aside. Rekka noticed this and attacked the girl. They were deep into the wood, so no one could hear them. Ichika evaded all of his attacks. Ren appeared behind Rekka, but was met with a punch in the gut. He fell on the ground.

-Still as pathetic as ever. – Ichika looked down on him.

Ren got irritated and clenched his fist, but there was nothing he could do. Rekka continued to swing his sword like a maniac. At occasions, he would create fireballs to attack with.

-You’re mine! –Shouted Rekka and created a thin beam of fire.

He caught Ichika off guard and cut her arm slightly. It started bleeding.

-Ichika! – Shouted Ren – SNAP OUT OF IT REKKA!

The demon kid looked behind. He started heading towards him, but turned around when he felt a strong presence.

-Look, I don’t care if you get possessed, or anything else, but I won’t forgive you harming me.

-Oh no. – Thought Ren.

-What are you saying, princess? – Giggled Rekka.

-I think it’s time I get serious for once.

Ichikas eyes glimpsed with light. They turned bright pink. Rekka got confused, but he didn’t falter. He rushed towards the girl. Ichika started moving her hands together, forming signs. Pink magic with the shape of a rose appeared around her. She moved her hands more intensely and unexpectedly moved them forwards. The magic signs were aimed at Rekka. The boy stopped, took position and cut the roses in half. They suddenly turned into countless petals and started spinning around them like a tornado.

-This magic, she’s from the Aoki family. Didn’t expect to come across one. – Thought Oneiros – Killing her wouldn’t be a problem, but it will cause a lot of commotion, I think it was enough for today. I had my “fun”. – He giggled.

Rekkas eyes turned back to normal. His head was dizzy and after a couple of seconds, he passed out. Ichika cancelled his magic.

-It’s over. – She said and started healing his cut with magic – He burnt my skin off, what a monster.

-Is he back to normal? – Asked Ren carefully.

-Stop being so frail and come get him. – Menacingly answered Ichika.

-What if he goes berserk again!?

-Will you just leave your “master” like this?

Ren went silent and checked Rekka. He checked his pulse and temperature, he was all right. The air around cooled down too.

-What to do with him? – Ren scratched his head.

-Drag him with you to the hotel and make a bad reason of why he is passed out. – Said Ichika with a straight face.

She had healed the wound completely. Ren accepted the offer. He actually dragged Rekka on his shoulders through the whole village, and when people asked about Rekka, he answered that the boy was just tired. Luckily, they avoided the teachers and arrived in their room.

-When will he wake up? – Asked Ren.

-Time will tell.

Ichika randomly started undressing, flustering the boy. Ren covered his eyes.

-W-what are you d-doing!?

Ichika looked at him with a disappointed look.

-We bathed together when we were little all the time, what’s the difference? – She clenched her fist – If you think of something, I’ll gauge your eye’s out.

-She’s so unfair! – Thought the boy.

Ichika replaced her cut shirt. Ren sat in the corner of the room with a face redder than a tomato.

-Wake up Rekka. – Ren prayed.

The whole night passed with the kids looking over the demon boy. In the middle of the night, Rekka finally woke up. He stood up and covered his head.

-What happened? – He looked around and noticed that he wasn’t in his room.

Ren approached him, carefully. Rekka turned around.

-Ren? Where am I? My head is killing me.

-You don’t remember? – Asked confused Ren.

Ichika was on guard nearby.

-Remember what?

-That you nearly tried to kill us!? – Ren was a little bit irritated, but didn’t show it.

Rekka suddenly got his memories back.

-Oh no, no, no! It’s because of the seal breaking! – Rekka started walking around in the room, mumbling about something.

-What seal? – Asked Ichika in a serious voice.

-Crap… - Thought Rekka and stopped.

-Too late to hide the demon. – Said Ichika and slowly approached him – I already suffered enough. Tell us the truth, or else…

-What do I do, what if they expose me? The dangers… - Thought Rekka.

He was in a corner, and decided to tell them about Oneiros.
